Africa is one of those songs that defies genre and time. This version is nothing short of amazing! The Tommy treatment was perfect for Africa. Love it!
He makes his version of the song more interesting than the original in my opinion, and I am a huge fan of classic Toto. Great cover of an overrated song.

@@dehnerts thanks! I just did. I have never heard of them before, but I see they are very popular with 4.5 million fans and 56 million views on this song! That’s quite impressive. I thought it was a very interesting rendition of the song, I appreciate the heaviness of it. I wasn’t a big fan of his vocals, though obviously many others would disagree with me. I wouldn’t listen to that version of the song more than this one time, it just wasn’t pleasing to my ear. That being said I thank you for putting them on my radar, and I definitely will check out more of their music! Thanks Brian!

I have always been into metal music, and this is WAY too mainstream pop for me, definitely was not listening to this kind of music in the 80’s. Thanks for pointing it out though!

Such a classic and rich voice. Sadly, as much as his voice stirs our passions and kick-starts our adrenaline, the mainstream has moved on from this type of sound. I am eternally grateful for platforms like this that allow super-talented individuals to shine despite not being a super-popular world stage touring artist. In my opinion, todays singers can't hold a candle to this type of vocal range and power.
