Can just imagine the deed its been done and its introduction “long ago, and ancient civilization of witchcraft. Construction an evil artifact called the fleshlight. Little is known about this”
Yeah, for people who were physically fit and were used to hiking, they had zero knowledge of the stars, how to use them for navigation, how to get fresh water, or make it, that water flows downhill, if there is water, or a river or creek, nothing to make a fire, no climbing gear, and no weapons for hunting. I get that it's a story, and that I shouldn't be nitpicking, but there are so many ways and so many things that you can buy, or make, to save yourself in a situation like this, especially if you know you will be hiking where there might not be any water nearby... I mean, they didn't even take the couple of seconds it would have taken to mark their trail, you know, so you can follow it back to where you started. And the more people you are travelling with, I would think the better the chances someone would know what they are doing. Oh well, Skott does an excellent job, and I love listening to his narration. I can't help being a smart ass sometimes. Sorry folks.
Old Yeller You should be klnitpicking, do you know how many stories with potential Empyrealinvective just absentmindedly deletes from the Creepypasta Wiki without a second thought, and his writing... If I weren't listening to this for the NaturesTemper ASMR value I dunno if I could handle it.
This is one of the better skinwalker stories I’ve heard. That Anasazi goat man story also works well. Here, the narrator’s social anxiety explaining how he can see the monster is believable and even makes him sympathetic. The idea of a social monster that slips in from the periphery grounds it in something common. The skinwalker is a better monster than that Slenderman. Your voice is perfect for bedtime.

No. Skinwalkers wear the skin of animals to transform into them. Its native American folklore. Fleshgaits is the correct term. Skinwalkers cannot warp your reality, only shapeshift. They also are/used to be human where as fleshgaits are a cryptid.
Peregrinus Oblivione first off Skinwalkers are Kachinas, Malenches, and Matachinas that can disguise themselves as humans, ands other animals, they can warp your memory and perception, just like Coyete did the The Earth Eater. Secondly Flesgait is an etymological synonym for Skinwalker.
What an incredible Halloween special, absolutely loved this one, unique and truly horrifying, in the right hands this could make an incredible film, it's got that Carpenter-esque potential
Funny I just made a comment sort of like yours. Just saw this but I agree. There are shit loads of stories and we just keep seeing the same films....sad waste.🙁
@Eammon Wright Oh I absolutely agree, his reading of the Goatman story is another one of my favourites, I grew up in woodland countryside so it really gets me in the nostalgic fear feels and I'll admit it's one of those ones I don't like putting on when I'm alone, the author adds just the right level of atmosphere and detail that makes your skin crawl cause it feels too real, I think xenophobic in it's truest sense means to be fearful of anything alien and strange, foreign in it's truest sense doesn't necessarily mean people from other countries, in medical terms you can get 'foreign objects' lodged in places they shouldn't be and I've heard authors describe things such as mountain ranges as 'foreign', I'm pretty sure xeno/xenos is a Greek word in origin and means alien which I'm pretty sure literally translates as 'different', yeah :)
@@laurametheny1008 In a way though I'm kinda happy about it, having a film adaptation brings with it the worry that it could be a terrible film which would then represent the story in the eyes of the wider public, I feel like stories such as this one are so good because they're created purely for the sake of story and not for money, HP Lovecraft is another person I associate this tale with
@@thehypest6118 Just a heads-up, The Anansi Goatman story did get a pretty interesting student film that handled the material pretty well (I think it was called Weirdo). As for Fleshgait being made into a movie, I'd have my doubts as a lot of the premise is built on not knowing names or being able to recognize faces. Additionally it might be hard to convey the memory implantation aspect effectively without telegraphing it. I think watching John Carpenter's The Thing is probably the closest we're going to get to an imposter/doppelganger horror movie so I'd be hesitant to try and have it come out less than what I was hoping for.
Oh I hate this stuff so much. The worst part is how much sense it makes, the perfect predators for social animals like us would be stuff that had some memetic effect on the social parts of our brains and turn the thing that normally makes us strongest into a weakness :c

[SPOILER] Dude, if this guy were so worried about having accidentally killed his friends, why didn’t he just look or ask around afterwards to make sure that those friends didn’t actually exist?
I got so fucking lost halfway through but I didn't want to spoil anything for myself. I read the creepy pasta up until I got lost and went back and slowly started mapping out the names then again to double check and then kept going from there.....Why can't I be this dedicated in all aspects of life?
while the concept of this story isn't particularly "scary" to me in the traditional sense (I mean I see how the concept of weird shapeshifters tricking you into thinking they're part of your group is, but I just mean the whole "false memories" idea in general), it's very like, upsetting, I guess? Imagine realizing someone you had years' worth of memories with as a friend or (even worse) a lover was actually a monster that had just implanted a bunch of fake memories into your brain an hour or two ago, and then having to kill said "friend" or "lover" to stay safe? Like it wouldn't matter that you knew it was all fake (in a way, that would almost make it even worse), that's just completely traumatizing as an idea. I know there was a Rick & Morty episode from (I think?) before this story that used the same basic plot device, but obviously played it for laughs rather than horror, but when you actually think about it from a realistic perspective, it's honestly just really awful.
@@cahal9247 When researching Fleshgaits , I came to the conclusion that they were similar to Skinwalkers. I originally wanted to have them as Skinwalkers, but I liked the idea of them being different from traditional Skinwalkers. I drew a lot of inspiration from The Silence and the Mind Parasites from Rick and Morty and wanted to try and incorporate them into Evan's more personal recounting.
Travis Kuhlman I find your response interesting. They are basically what you get if you mash up a Wendigo, Yandelushi (Skin-Walker), and Rake. I've just wondered exactly what they categorize as, Cryptid, Extraterrestrial, Demon, etc.
@@cahal9247 I classify Cryptids as creatures that have been witnessed/rumored to exist (Bigfoot, The Maryland Goatman, Ya-Te-Veo, etc.). Wendigos are more interesting due to their historical significance and cultural-bound mental disorder. I liked that concept so much that I wrote a Wendigo Psychosis series here (creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/User:EmpyrealInvective/My_Stories#At_My_Most_Human_State_Series) if you want to waste an hour or so. I'd classify Fleshgaits as cryptids if I had to categorize them as Reddit has a lot of stories about them (although they are nebulous in how the author chooses to write them). Thanks for reading and listening!
What an amazing story! Thank you so much for narrating this for us. I've been in a bit of a lull with horror stories right now, just cant find any good ones. But this was a masterpiece! You and the author make a great team
Wooo...a delicious hour this time 🐊 Love it 🐾 You are flawless in your delivery 🐺 Thank you Skott 🕷🕸 PS, The ONLY thing that really bummed me out abt this story is the Evan never defended himself against his brother. He just kept his mouth shut and took the verbal beatings even tho he KNEW he wasn’t responsible for the map going missing or the not staying awake the whole night ... he should have spoken up, whether they believed him or not… he should’ve stood his ground.
Their clothing is removable, theirs isn’t really without being caught. That and some tally marks written on your arms for number of people their, anytime the number goes up have everyone half remove their close, then whoever refuses swallow your emotion and beat them!!!!!
NT...I’ve watched/listened to nearly all of your narrations. Your talent of bringing life to these stories (even to those involving the undead 😉) has grown to the point that you’re nearly unparalleled in this field. Having said all of that....this has to be your best narration. That was 1 hour of amazing work, friend. What a way to end the creepypasfa holiday season!! Thanks you, NT!
This is the best creepy pasta style story I have heard to date, that was an absoloutely horrifyingly beautifully told mindfuck and I want more, are there any similar stories to this one that I can listen to? This has just set a new standard in my humble opinion.
This one seriously kept me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails til the very end ❤ The way you narrate makes the protagonist in every story so very real; no matter what, you bring the characters to life better than any other narrator I listen to. The passion you have for horror just shines through so much, its amazing. Thank you soso much for putting your amazing narrations out there; I KNOW I'm not the only one who's day/night gets a little brighter when you post a new video ❤❤☺

This is the only “fleshgait story” I’ve found that’s actually about a fleshgait instead of a skinwalker, wendigo, goatman, or rake.

Dude, if this guy were so worried about having accidentally killed his friends, why didn’t he just look or ask around afterwards to make sure that those friends didn’t actually exist?
Awesome job! You really have talent. Hope all the animals you study appreciate you!
I got so fucking lost halfway through but I didn't want to spoil anything for myself. I read the creepy pasta up until I got lost and went back and slowly started mapping out the names then again to double check and then kept going from there.....Why can't I be this dedicated in all aspects of life?
Really enjoyed that, nice to have a long story, hope you do more
while the concept of this story isn't particularly "scary" to me in the traditional sense (I mean I see how the concept of weird shapeshifters tricking you into thinking they're part of your group is, but I just mean the whole "false memories" idea in general), it's very like, upsetting, I guess?
Classic Fleshgait, just what was needed. I just wonder what the origin of them is and what exactly they are.
This is a thing? I thought it was like a callback to The Goatman, or atleast partially inspired by
Emilio Reyes nope, it's a very special semi-unique monster of unknown origin.
Holy fuck I'm 24 minutes in and the conflicting numbers of people foreshadowing that theres more creatures is fucking me up lol
What an amazing story!
Thank you so much for narrating this for us. I've been in a bit of a lull with horror stories right now, just cant find any good ones. But this was a masterpiece! You and the author make a great team
On of my favorite stories
Thank you for including the pictures in the original creepypasta.
Narration is awesome!! Subscriber definitely earned
Wooo...a delicious hour this time 🐊
Love it 🐾
You are flawless in your delivery 🐺
Thank you Skott 🕷🕸
PS,
The ONLY thing that really bummed me out abt this story is the Evan never defended himself against his brother.
So that's why everyone in these stories ends up dead AND naked 🧐🤣 could never figure out that element. That could be it
NT...I’ve watched/listened to nearly all of your narrations.
That scouse accent sounds spot on... lock down your belongings people there's a scouse in the house 😆
Dude you are amazing. The storys you choose, your narration is absolutley amazing, and you're editing. Absolutley astounding. Great job man
This is the best creepy pasta style story I have heard to date, that was an absoloutely horrifyingly beautifully told mindfuck and I want more, are there any similar stories to this one that I can listen to? This has just set a new standard in my humble opinion.
Goddamn it, I read this as "Fleshlight"
Lugia21 demon flesh light it’ll take your junk to hell!!!
Lugia21 lmfao
This one seriously kept me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails til the very end ❤
The way you narrate makes the protagonist in every story so very real;
no matter what, you bring the characters to life better than any other narrator I listen to.
The passion you have for horror just shines through so much, its amazing.
Thank you soso much for putting your amazing narrations out there;
I KNOW I'm not the only one who's day/night gets a little brighter when you post a new video ❤❤☺
Maximum levels of spook.
I am so adapted to dehydration and lack of sleep that this would have no effect on me and I would have just been skipping all the way like a happy lizard running across the desert to find the next rock to rest on.
You're not happen to be a nurse? :D
@@Furzkampfbomber no, I’m not, and I’ve taken care of my dehydration problems more recently.
Ah a desert rat I see
This was terrifying.. loved every second of this. It truly kept me up at night
This is why you pack a piece in the wood or a good solid shovel
Wow, just wow, amazingly well written, and told even better, best experience Ive had with one of these in quite some time

I've listened to every version of this stog'
25:09 Imagine listening to this to fall asleep and then hearing that frickin’ voice.
The "it's me" fucked me UP
Absolutley terrifying.👌 that voice editing keeps me up at night, great job. Definitly got a new sub
Wow. Such a great story! Well narrated! And thank you for a long story..perfect. 😊
Awesome Story!
*listening intently* ....when the fuck did Jessica become amy?....
Awesome! One of the best! Loved the different voices.
mm rick and morty vibes do be hitting hard
This is one of my absolute favorite pastas, SO good 👌🏽Being narrated by one of my absolute favorite narrators? Icing on the creepy ass cake👍🏽😉💕 Flawless as always N.T☺️
Glad you enjoyed my story and NaturesTemper's narration of it.
Thank you for continuing to tell me stories that chill me to my bones !!!
What a mind bender! It’s freakishly beautiful. Thank you
This story has always been in my top 5 scary stories it is so well written and that ending is heartbreaking even though none of our main characters for killed.
Uh Sara seemed to be trying to tell you guys shes the one, potentially trying to actually help you, and instead of confining her to confirm you hit her in the face and yell at her. She didnt bail as soon as her jaw was fucky, Homedawg with fake MS tried to attack as soon as Narrator tried to confront him,
🧐🧐🤔😂
God DAMN this was amazing. Confusing. But amazing. Good shit. And great narration of course.
