Michael Moschen is amazing. Contact juggling, blinded, pressed against another person, while wearing leather jacket and glove (meaning he couldn't feel precisely where the ball was at)... That takes talent!
Actually, Bowie mesed up and that's why he laughed. Michael's job in that scene was to transfer the ball to Bowie and he successfully did that, Bowie was meant to roll the ball over his finger tips and hold it. The end result is that it looks like the Goblin King got a ball out of thin air. Watch the scene in slow motion and you can see Bowie's hand and Michael's hand.
@@qwmx Bowie's right arm isn't in that scene at all. The juggler uses his left hand to roll the ball down his own right arm, which is in Bowie's jacket sleeve.
Dawwwww I always used to think the crystal juggling was one of david Bowies many hidden talents, I'm so naive. But this proves that the film is a masterpiece and created a great illusion.
I do this and the learning curve is so steep that it takes nothing short of single minded dedication and the patience to wait till stars burn out with daily practice of four hours a day especially if you're self taught, one thing I notice and it's irritating is that other people who do this art form never ever get the move right the one where he is doing the wavy motion and the ball looks like it is floating at his fingertips.
Wait! I have a better plan.. *plop* Wait! I have a better plan.. *plop* (David Bowie laughs) Wait! I have a better plan.. *plop* (Bursts out laughing again)
The effort and energy that went into every particular scene is astounding. For a literally one second image, it can take hours of rehearsal. I work in theatre and we put the hours in- but there isn't the pressure of being filmed quite so intimately.
I can't stop watching this,,, probably due to the fact that David's reactions to Michael's mistakes are true reactions, and his real personality really comes out... I just love David Bowie. :)
I've been working on contact juggling with the same acrylic ball. I'm a professional cosplayer, and I also do drag. I'm doing a jareth cosplay, soon. Hand sewing the leather, hand patterning the grey pants (yes they're patterned if you zoom way in), shredding the cuffs, etc. I'm pumped. I've been watching this guy non stop.
He’s one of those people who you don’t expect to die...when I watch videos of him I completely forget that he passed and it fills me with great sadness really.
I worked with a guy who worked with Michael Moschen. He takes himself INCREDIBLY seriously, and would actually get angry when jugglers would incorporate throwing into contact juggling. That being said, he's beyond talented. And when being 'unique' in juggling would mean nothing more than juggling larger or more oddly shaped object, Moschen created a revolution in how jugglers stand out from the crowd.
The care put into David's performance and the jugglers skill going hand in hand with the masterful stroke a production magic by Jim Henson. bravo sir bravo 1:39
Omg the peach was a 'present'...at the time I thought he was just trying to distract her which is still probably partly true but he started falling for her too and the peach was a way for him to get to her and seduce her because he started to fall for her...in Jareth's weird ways but oh so lovely lol...Oh goodness! =P
Michael Moschen was great performing Jareth’s magic juggling, I also love seeing bloopers with David laughing as Michael probably gets annoyed at messing up the juggling.
I remember seeing Michael on PBS doing his performance with crystals... wasn't sure what to think really... but it works well here though it had to be nerve racking.
Up until now I thought that Bowie just knew how to do that, or that they paid an artist to teach him, what a stranhe and magical way to do it. Mr. Henson really knew how to make each of his works special.

I have always been a very intuitive person and ever since a was little girl - and watched the film The Labyrinth for the first time - I've thought: " David Bowie's one of the most fascinating people of the last century".
I have the movie I got it at Goodwill store it's a superbit DVD, this from the documentary on the special features of the DVD, I just saw it yesterday, I do remember it from the 1980s it was in theatres.
This is an ancient art form called Contact Juggling. There are lots of videos here on youtube with many performance artists performing the tricks in Labyrinth as well as many more.

David bowie: Well I had fun! :D

David Bowie has the sexiest laugh...

He has the sexiest everything
His laugh is very similar to of Alan Watts'

It's very sad - and even though I love my brother, I think I'd still wish him away just to meet the goblin king! #inlove

I've known that for a while. He's a singer and an actor. Not a stuntman.
I've always known that he didn't do it and turns out my assumptions were correct all my life.

Believing Bowie is magic is NOT naive! He bloody was!
The ball trick was the whole reason why i liked this movie as a child.
As i got older it took a backseat to David ;D
I agree. I think I'm obsessed with the English accent, and David's accent is one of my favorites. I could listen to him talk all day.
