Sooo much more to the plugin than I knew! Thank you Drew!
Such a great plugin. That said, these examples are already SO processed when they hit the the Studer. Like, that first share is so saturated…why not start with something cleaner and show how you can get it there?
It's always fantastic what you can get out of the plugins once you've mastered them
Only a couple updates I’d love to see with your amazing plugins. Not having to menu dive to load our own user presets (like in console) and also adding a search bar in console so we can easily load plugins by name. For instance, I always forget if say studer is in the “s” section or the “a” section so I have to scroll through whole list. Then I don’t know if it’s under “tape” “special processing” or “mastering.” Would make so much sense to be able to type “studer” and load in the insert.
Excellent demo - I absloutely love the velvety tone that the Studer instantly imparts to sources, even on the default setting.
🥂
Thank you for the tips! I am really enjoying using the Studer A800! Sounds fantastic!
Thats a great refresh. So good. Drew is the man.
Thanks!!! Glad you enjoyed!
Literally cannot live without this plugin. Thanks for the informative tutorial UA you’re the GOAT!
You're welcome!!
Thanks Drew! Super helpful.
All tape machines in your company must have input output link mode.
Right? Kind of crazy that in 2023 there’s no automatic gain compensation in their plugins.
Anyone else notice how when they’re showing putting the plugin in, it’s way louder? S/ Great sound demos :/
Amazing Plugin, always in my mix template
Very good video. Please make more! I have all your plug-ins!!
Glad you enjoyed it!! More coming!!
Nice job lads, really helpful
Glad you enjoyed!!
Incredible Drew. Thanks for all the examples! Very helpful video
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Awesome tape! UA OneLove)🤙
I produce electronic stuff... But I swear by this now for being a part of the sound & glue I've been wanting for my electronic productions.
Yup!!!! So glad you're enjoying!
Best plugin ever :)
that beat around 3:00 is crazy though!!!
UAD quá tuyệt vời. Tôi đã sử dụng cho tất cả bản mix của tôi
Glad to hear it!
This plugin is the greatest tape plugin I've ever tested, and I've tested a lot of them!
Question/Request: It would be awesome to hear ONLY the stuff/sound that it ads. Like the wet signal without the dry signal.
I could always bounce in place, then bypass the plugin, and then turn the phase of one of them to hear the difference, but it would be cool to be able to do it inside the plugin.
AND Automated make-up/down gain :)
Interesting idea!! Thanks for the feedback. BTW, you can automate the parameters.
I'll make a tutorial Friday night and show you how to do that, it's indeed possible 👍
Is it even better than slate digital virtual tape machine
@@TheSpeedyr6 100% just try it
Copy track, add plugin, invert phase
Digging the wurli teaser..
Sounds great Drew💪🏽😁🔊🔊
Glad you enjoyed!
@@UniversalAudio np keep it up!
Waiting for King Ampex 102 in the Spark signature ⚡️
Nothing yet
Please hurry with UAD Spark for Windows 😁😁
The Studer A800 is on every tracks in every session, Most of the time as the 1th insert slot.
👍🏻
Is there a stand alone version as my DAW doesn't pick it up , I'm running Windows 10 and my DAW is the now ageing Orion Platinum.
Does this require Apollo like the Ampex tape machine plugin?
Ampex for UADX please!!
Is this CPU intensive? I mean, would it be possible to put lots of instances on different channels and not just on the master bus?
Wish there was a varispeed option which would make this my dream tape machine
That's a DAW function.
Was going to subscribe to spark until I found out the studer no longer has gang controls, is there any chance this is being added back in? Very handy for non pro tools users
Yeah, it's a DEEP feature that didn't quite make the initial release. Perhaps we'll get it back in there at some point. Thanks for the feedback, we'll add your voice to the rest that want/need it.
I am brand new to mixing in the box. I bought untold thousands on gear and plugins, and now only starting to mess with them. Today, I am trying different saturation plugins, including the plugin featured here. What I am trying to understand is, there was a time when the goal was to have as little wow, flutter, distortion, and noise as possible. I remember getting crap because I recorded on a 4-track Fostex cassette. So why is everybody loving it now? What changed? Thank you.
Now is digital clean sound boring and analog the real thing
... that changed 😂
After UAD Spark i have this and this is the best tape plug in i've ever tried. I want to add it every channel and every mix :D Btw will you add some new plug ins to Spark ?
Spark will grow for sure!! Stay tuned!
@@UniversalAudio I can not wait. Please hurry :D thank you UAD!
🥂
Would you be able able to tell me if using this plugin with an Apollo Solo and a Mac M1 is all right? I am afraid this one might be too greedy in term of CPU. Thanks
No, it works well with a Solo as it only uses 9% of a chip for mono. Also, you get the free native version of it as well, so you can run more on your CPU.
What is the difference between adjusting the calibration and driving the input harder?
Calibration controls the the amount of fluxivity that is hitting the tape internally, whereas driving the input pushes harder into the entire process including the input electronics.
Hi guys is there any was of just using the saturation and diabling the eq? I couldnt find anything in the manual on if this is possible, thanks
No, those EQ cards are an integral part of the machine and therefore the modeling. But, the factory default is a fairly clean.
Can u guys plz add gang cntrl on the spark version? Why not possible?
It's a UAD feature that didn't make it into UADx. Nothing to announce at this time, but we know it's missed. You can use your DAW's grouping feature to do the same thing. For example, in PT, you can simply link those inserts and have the same functionality.
When did y’all update the GUI? Looks bigger.
We updated it as a part of Spark and that is now in UAD as well.
I'm new to this plugin as I use the Ampex 102, Why does it seem to kill the stereo field when I apply the Studder to my bus channel ? For example I automate a pan on a guitar and it seems to move the panning to the center when enabled, I like the character but this makes me not want to use it.
This might happen a VERY little bit due to crosstalk, but it should not be "mono-ing" a stereo bus. Sounds like something else might be going on.
@@UniversalAudio oh.... It says Studder (m) in my plugging list , I think my DAW Persons studio one is listing a mono version, I will try a few things, thanks .
Yes!!! Be sure you're using the stereo version!!
I love Studer, however you guys know as well as I do, that increasing volume gives the perception of a better sound.
Not making any adjustments to the output gain of the 'wet' versions demonstrates a duplicity which is unbecoming of a company with such a great history.
I had these plugins for a long time but now they just take too much processing power on my MacBook Pro Intel i9 2.4 64 Ram.
I find Oxide is better choice if you don't want to waste time on tweaking. Sounds amazing as it is. Throw it in and move on.
Whats the song at 2:55?
Auto-gain compensate option
I wish they had a mix knob.😢
Send the signal to an aux, add the plug in there and blend away!
Old tape... interesting
Fun stuff!!
I have RC-20, do I need this? 😂😂😂 (I’m joking ofc)
So now let's take a listen to this unprocessed snare:
- (a sound of a mosquito being smashed by a havaianas flip-flop).
Did he say "spank that tape".......
Oh yeah!
what about Acoustic Drums? those digi drums sound rubbish
Interesting explanation of the A800 - but the sound examples are not useful at all - because - what you say here is a snare, is not a snare, it´s a horrible sounding artificial loop. Good snares you can get (for example) from Pearl, DW, Sonor etc. What you describe here as a bass, is not a bass. For recording I recommend a Fender Precision. Further into the video yoy play a drums subgroup, these are not drums, - again,- these are artifical horrible loops. Why not using real musicians playing real instruments ???
Yes it would be interesting to hear this machine on a snare - on a real snare. What you here describe as a snare has nothing to do with a snare, is nowhere near a snare. What you here say is a snare is just a horrible synthetic artifial boring sound.
