I got my JetPens order yesterday and i had ordered a uni jetstream in 0.5 . I was sure i wasn't going to like since i had always been a fun of gel pens. I was so so wrong. I’m gonna save you a lot of time and money experimenting with fountain pens. The best low cost option I’ve found that out performs everything in my fountain pen collection is a pilot metro fine nib with the platinum carbon black ink and a con-20 converter. It writes VERY smooth. The ink has some sort of lubricating property that makes the pen glide on paper easier. It never leaks and gets on your fingers like other inks in the same configuration or like the other pens I have. It feathers less than other inks as well and on very crappy paper it will feather but not much. I still don’t like any feathering at all so to me that’s a downside. It is water proof and it will never fade. It dries quicker than a lot of inks aswell. I think around 5 seconds and it’s pretty much dry. As for uni. They are the best gel pens hands down.. I really like the style fit gel pens in .28mm and the RT-1. I just wish they would not charge so much.

At first I thought I just unfortunate that I got the bad batch, but recently I have bought 5 jetstreams SXR-5 separately, for the past 2 weeks because the ink keep worn out and I decided to bought again and again with hope that I would get a good one. But after 5 times I get my hopes up. I don't know if it's my fault because of the way I wrote (I wrote very often everyday) that makes it a problem or it is the ink. I love this pen A LOT because it makes my handwriting neater, I do like it a lot when it worked very well (if I don't like it, I won't try to bought it 5 times in a row because of this issues) but I keep getting this issues, and because of that I consider find another pen if this keeps happening. So with my new ink refill, I tried my best to use it properly and holding it upright when writing, but the next day, the ink doesn’t come out anymore. I came here to see if anybody has the solution to this.
The Uni Jetstream is a ballpoint pen, so there is no Uni Jetstream mechanical pencil. The mechanical pencil component is only included in the multi pen. If you would like to purchase pens individually, you can get a mechanical pencil and add a container of Uni NanoDia Lead: www.jetpens.com/Uni-NanoDia-Lead/ct/3518
I recently bought a Uni Jetstream SXN-150-05, but I accidentally dropped it, and now it’s skipping when I write. Is there any way to salvage it, or is it beyond repair?
Jetstream ballpoint pens have serious quality problem. Ink does not flow after some time even though there is still more than half of ink left. The ratio of quality problem occurs more than 50%. I am not sure if the maker know this. They should inform consumers on this issue.
My favorite pen is the 4-color one. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to buy it in Poland. I have 3-color pens with 0.7 mm and 1.0 mm tips. The only downside to the cartridges in the pens is that the longer you write, the brighter the cartridge writes. I've already checked this on used and unused pens. I don't know what the reason is. Well, aloe, however, it is one of the best writing pens I have in my arsenal.

I used the Uni Jetstream with rubber bodies (2:05) for writing a fantasy novel between 2012 and 2013, though I think they are the retractable versions of the SX-217 above (2:55, similar color). At the time, I regarded them as the smoothest writing instruments I ever owned, and it's a pain to try and use other ballpoint pens. I think at some point the rubber surface and grip area melted because I live in a country where it's hot all year round 😢 My current go-to ballpoint pens are Pilot Acroball, but nostalgia and this video make me wonder if I should use a Uni Jetstream again.
@@nadiah.floots did you manage to find out the cause of that? Could it be one of the contributing factors of you switching to Acroball asides from the melted rubber (because you could always get the other pen bodies for Jetstream)? I’m torn because I really like Jetstream ink, but I can’t keep buying new refills just to destroy it in 1 day 🥲 Maybe I could switch to Acroball. Do you think the Acroball ink is as good as Jetstream?
@@imthecoolest50 I never did find out the cause. It's more than the SX-217, it happens with the standard Jetstream 101 as well. Basically every Jetstream ballpoint pen I bought became unusable within the week because of dried ink (which I tried to revive the JetPens way, but the results are never sustained). Maybe my bookstores carry old stock? I'm not sure, but that's a theory. With the Pilot Acroball, sometimes the refills turn out dry, but they're much successfully reactivated. Around 60% of my Acroball cartridges get used to the fullest, often without the ink drying. Uni Jetstream ink may be smoother, while Acroball feels closer to writing with a traditional ballpoint pen. Based on personal experience? The Pilot Acroball got me through eight whole paper-based exams. I could barely write memos with Uni Jetstream pens in that same era.
I have the uniball jetstream 0.7 and even though I agree is perfect to take notes quickly, it does skip lines when I try to underline some words or senteces :(
Love my Jetstreams, especially in 0.7 or 1.0. My only frustration is the lack of consistency with their names. What jetpens call the 'rubber' is also called the 'grip' or 'rt'.
Hi there! The Pilot Dr. Grip 4+1 has a grip that is 12.7 mm wide. The Uni Jetstream 4&1's grip is 13.4 mm wide. The difference is slight but pretty noticeable; if you find that the Dr. Grip is the perfect width for you, you should definitely stick with it!
@@JetPens Thank for such a detailed clarification, yes Dr.Grip 4+1 would probably be the maximum grip diameter in terms of comfortability for me, probably will wait for Jetstream 3&1 which likely to have similar diameter with DrGrip's
I got into jetstream right after my favorite ballpoint pen, Avant Silkscribe, discontinued and they no longer have them at Staples. The avant ballpoint pens write so smoothly and the color of the ink is vibrant black color similar to that of gel pen. It's too bad that they no longer have them at Staples. So, I am on a quest to find pens that have similar qualities to my favorite pen. A lot of people recomended jetstream lineup, so, I gave it a try. I bought 0.38, 0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 to see which one I like the best. Upon my first time writing with the pens, I didn't like them that much because the color is not as black as Avant, and they skipped a lot. The 0.38 is way too scratchy. The 0.5 is scrathy. The 0.7 and 1.0 are ok, but don't glide as smooth as Avant. Since I bought so many of them, I continued using them because I wanted to get my money's worth (they are quite expensive, more expensive than the Avant). Within a month, the color faded really bad even though the ink was still full. I thought they dried out, so I performed multiple tricks: dipping in hot water, writing on a glass surface, tapping and scribbling, using blow dryier and sucking the ink. But nothing worked. So, i tried my last resort by heating the nib to a flame for a few seconds. It worked!!! But didn't last long because the pens kept drying after writing a few sentences. So, I kept heating the nib over and over until it POPPED OUT and the ink EXPLODED onto my desk. my book ruined. my computer stained. my hands stained. Luckily, I have some rubbing alcohol with me to rub off all of the inks. To be honest, it was a traumatizing experience writing with this ballpoint. I don't understand the hype around this pen. Even some cheap regular ballpoints can write better than this pen, especially without the need of heating the nib over and over again. At first, I don't like it that much but I can tolerate it. Now, I hate it. Sorry, jetstream.
Maybe you can try the Azor blue or black ballpens. Update:I bought another 1 mm Azor Pinpoint and it still works like a charm. You would have to import it from Central or South America.
I encountered the same problem. I also don't understand the hype around them. I have the multiple pen version, all of them stopped working after a month even tho their barrel is still full.
Mine too!! I heard it could be because we’re not holding it truly upright while writing. With my new ink refill, I tried maintaining an upright grip while writing but it still happens. I came here to look for answers but haven’t found any.
Fakename Fakesurname not alone. I have three BRAND NEW SXR-80-07 ink refills instantly dried up after writing 3-4 sentences long. Three of them having the same issue in a row. I’m now returned to my Dr grip 4+1 with the Acro ink
@@97michaelthang the ink isn't even dry, it just stops flowing after one line, i can't understand why this happen. Pilot grip is excellent i agree, even though i never used the one you mentioned
I read somewhere that it’s because you don’t maintain an upright grip of the pen when writing. I tried my best not to write while leaning back to maintain that upright grip but the ink still stops working the next day .-. I don’t know what to do

I love the 4&1 jetstream pen 🖊😍❤ I know it will always come in handy and I just need to bring the pen and a scale
Love the invention!
which of these are able to be refilled side from the multi ones?
Is uni ball air good can you recommend a video for it
Love my Jetstreams, especially in 0.7 or 1.0. My only frustration is the lack of consistency with their names. What jetpens call the 'rubber' is also called the 'grip' or 'rt'.
Im buying this soon
Would the Jetstream 4&1 be too thick if I switch from my current Dr.Grip 4+1?
I want a ball pen with 2 mm nib size
Jet stream edge is the most stylish among all
Uniball Signo 151 vs Uniball jetstream? Can't decide.
The Air is my favourite for fancyness but the Eye is fantastic for quite things though I haven't quite mastered the Air's pressure sensitive nib
i got 2 4&1 uni jetstream multipens for school awhile ago. wish i had waited a bit longer for the studio ghibli versions. they look adorable!
It's very smooth but quite thick ,,, make it slightly slimmer .
this pen is amazing but do anyone know why mine always stop working after a while? (with a lot of ink)
Try something else, Uniball is only good for rollerballs and gel stuff.
Mine too!! I heard it could be because we’re not holding it truly upright while writing. With my new ink refill, I tried maintaining an upright grip while writing but it still happens. I came here to look for answers but haven’t found any.
My thrifty Bu3 Grip click pen is as ergonomical on both hands and the ink is better than standard.
I like 4&1
wow this is a good pen I reallly want it
All jet stream are the best
I liked 4&1
Guys what is the best jetstream tip size for me its the 0.7 mm dissent skip or scratch and less smearing
You didn’t mention jetstream 101 with full grip body
I have one jetstream, blue ink and 1mm point, but the ink stopped flowing and of course the cartridge is stil full. I'm so disappointed
I experienced this too!! Any solution for this? I love jetstream :(
I read somewhere that it’s because you don’t maintain an upright grip of the pen when writing. I tried my best not to write while leaning back to maintain that upright grip but the ink still stops working the next day .-. I don’t know what to do
I love the color series with my jibun techo
The multipens were my favorite
