Agree...but Kimankes is Handsome brave kind than Silahtar..because Silahtar also devil he teach Murad to Change The Rules of Ottoman..that Only Murad Son can Sit the Throne if he die not his brother kasim
It is just too bad that a valide sultana was never allowed to re-marry. Especially once she was past being able to bear children(menopause). Marrying off Kosem to Keemankes, then sending them off to govern one of the provinces might have been a good solution. Silahatar after Kemankes came to see him? He should have gone straight to Murad and said he wanted to be released from his court position. To return to what he had been, a loyal soldier serving the empire and Murad.
no consort of the sultan was allowed to marry, unfortunately. it was a sad thing as most of them were slaves anyway. they weren’t free women so they technically couldn’t marry unless they were freed. one consort who was married though was afife kadin. she wasn’t a valide sultan but just a consort of mustafa ii. she had princes but they all died in infancy. except for her, telli haseki humasah sultan, eight haseki and legal wife of ibrahim i also, if i’m not mistaken, remarried someone as she was a free woman and her prince orhan died in infancy. it’s a sad thing that valide sultans and consorts weren’t freed and married after their sultan’s death. valide sultans were in power so they weren’t really alone, they had their sons and grandchildren, a harem to rule, a state if they were politically active and they most probably wouldn’t feel the need for a husband [that’s a personal desire though, not all probably felt the same]. besides, it would be kinda... awkward, is the best way to describe it, a son marrying his mother off to a state official. especially because a valide sultan is the matriarchal head of the dynasty and the state so it would be really weird. however, i don’t see any reason for consorts to not be freed and married, especially if they never had kids of their own. unfortunately, they were sent to the old palace and lived there, without power and mostly alone, for the rest of their lives.
also, i was watching this scene again today and i forgot to mention one thing. in real life, historically, kosem sultan didn’t love kemankes kara mustafa pasha. in fact, they both had a rivalry during ibrahim i’s reign. kemankes was an influential grand vizier during the end of murad iv’s reign and he knew that ibrahim on the throne meant he could get more free reign. basically, he had plans to rule de facto through ibrahim [due to his mental condition] and kosem had the same plans [who was a little restricted at the end of murad’s reign, not a lot, just little] so they both clashed. they had a rivalry but they tolerated each other for the sake of the empire. however, they both ruled effectively and the problems of ibrahim’s reign only started when he executed kemankes & almost exiled kosem to the rhodes (?) island. but yeah, they both actually didn’t like each other but damn, i freaking love their relationship in the series, the best relationship in the entire mc/mc:k franchise.
@@syedriyan7009 I read somewhere that kosem actually would free the consorts that were assigned as her servants after a few years in service and marry them off to various state officials. I honestly find the valide sultana’s situation to be sexist, same with the consorts and the possibility they will remain single even if they didn’t want to be. Didn’t it also have to do with the fact that they (the valide) had slept with the previous sultan who was considered god’s (or in this case allah’s) representative on earth?
@@syedriyan7009 and didn’t Kosem and murad actually have an amicable relationship for most of, if not all of his reign? I think I remember reading there was some conflict when murad wanted to end Kosems regency and assume full control but afterwards they grew close again and she stayed as his advisor like the valides often did.
Part of what comes with all the special benefits of being "dynasty" is doing your duty and having as many children as possible. Everyone knew and understood this. Had Hurrem not pumped out a million kids Suleimon would have eventually taken a concubine. Gevherhan already had her children, but Atike was of an age to birth many. He took his most loyal family member (Atike) and paired her with his most loyal staff (Silahatar). By pairing Kemankes with Gevherhan he was giving his sister a husband to replace the one who was disloyal but also keeping his mother and Kemankes from doing something illegal and stupid. It wasn't nice but it made sense.
murat didnt know that kosem and kemankesh had feeling for each other though. cuz kosem decided for geverhan and thats why he did it to stop his mother from getting more powerful. cuz kosem was gonna marry geverhan to the other guy and that would make him grand vizier and she would have more ppl on her side. So thats why murat did it to have more ppl on HIS side and not kosems (kemankesh was on his service aswell as kosems). also yh he did prevent something illegal without knowing it though.

This was the cruelest thing murad did to kosem. The look they gave each other when murad said about the marriage ...heart breaking
Why? Kemankesh had right to live happily too. Anyway marriage between him and kosem was not possible
