Painting with Jane, if I ever get out the paints and brushes again it will be because of you. You make it look so fun. I always try to over think and over do and it never gets done or even started. Through watching your videos I have learned how you do the backgrounds and let the paint and burshes add character and creation without overworking the issue. Great work.
Michael Parry I think we’ve all been guilty of that at some point. Some paintings I’ve done I wind up not loving them just b/c I’ve overworked them to the point where it’s “ugh”. I just have to remember that I do enjoy painting & there’s a lot of my paintings that I am proud of & love. My “ugh” paintings are just part of my journey. If I learn something from it, & had fun doing it, that’s all that matters. I usually then make a second attempt (even a third attempt if I really like the subject) at my “blah work”, & it’ll turn out a lil better each time b/c of what I’ve learned. I realize this comment is 2 years old now, & I hope you have picked your brushes back up & are busy making amazing pieces that you enjoy & love!
i love this. i was sad trying to paint. i found this and started playing with it. i started laughing everytime i put in those eyes and mouth so i have lots of canvas with these ghosts!
spoieeeeeee, the medium gives, like they're there but they're not :) I use this medium a lot but have never thought of using it this way. Thanks Jane for another great tutorial xx
You're welcome! Thank you :D Yeah, when my friend told me to use it like that, I thought she was crazy. Once I tried it, I knew she was brilliant, lol.
Nice ******* painting! Honk! Honk! 😂 🤣 I did two of these & hung them up in my bathroom on each side of the mirror to help complete a ghostly theme for Halloween this year. I always decorate every room in the house for Halloween, & I do the same for Christmas. These look so cute in there though with all the lil ghosties I made out of small styrofoam balls & white handkerchiefs!
Just bought the cloud set of brushes. Can’t wait to get them!! Just starting out painting and I feel like this is something I should have done a long time ago.
hy jane..i really like all your paintings .m your regular viewer and i tried most of your paintings which extremely turns great. i have a request ..please do a painting of bamboo tree..i'm eagerly waiting for your painting ..
oooooh jane u love the ghost and it is very simple .i go to paint it i love it the colour u use like a sea or like a power rever u anderstand me i like it its nice
Hi Jane! :) I'm Jel from the Philippines. I've been following your lovely works for months now. I really love them 😊 Anyway, I'm done with my paintings.. Uhm, what should I use to keep them from dust and to maintain its color? 😊
This seems to be very fun and simple. Thank you! What is the difference between slow dry blending medium and gloss/matte medium? Can both be used to achieve the same thing?
Thank you! Yes, very simple :) Slow dry blending medium is used to keep the paint wet longer, but I feel like the matte/gloss medium does a better job of it. I think the matte/gloss mediums are more multi-purpose. I use gloss medium in place of glazing medium, for example, because it doesn't dry as fast so you have longer working time, but it can also be used as varnish. Matte medium, in the past, I've only used as varnish because I don't like that it's not glossy. Now that I know I can use it for glazing, varnish, AND as a retarder, it's pretty much all I'll be using :) The texture is so much better than the slow dry.
Jane for the background seems like similar technique with the fence for the cat. can you use one of those square painting sponges for the background instead of flat brush
Super cute! Can you do an elephant painting one day?! I need to hang an elephant picture on my wall and I know you would come up with something amazing and adorable for an elephant! Thanks!!
Pretty much. Matte medium doesn't make the colors quite as transparent as gloss medium. For this painting, you could absolutely use gloss instead of matte :)
Thank you for sharing I loved doing this painting !! Also I have tried joining your monster squad on FB but every time I go back to the page it ask me to rejoin :)
My ghostbusting 5 year old loved this!
BEETLEJUICE!! An old family favorite of ours! Love this cute painting.. thanks Jane!
Thank you, Cindy!!! Don't say that name 3 times, though ;) Or do. I probably would, haha!
Jane, this is so cute, quick, and refreshing. I always enjoy viewing your videos. it makes my day or night, (whenever I watch it). Another great one.
Hehe, thank you, Michael!! I'm loving doing these super simple ones here and there.

Michael Parry Thank you! I hope you DO get those paints and brushes back out!! You're depriving yourself of some serious enjoyment there, friend
Painting with Jane, you are so right.

Hi Jane! :) I'm Jel from the Philippines. I've been following your lovely works for months now. I really love them 😊 Anyway, I'm done with my paintings.. Uhm, what should I use to keep them from dust and to maintain its color? 😊
Hi Jel!! Yes, as Maheen said, you can give them a coat of varnish. That will protect the paint :)
Brilliant!
Aw, thanks :D
Jane for the background seems like similar technique with the fence for the cat. can you use one of those square painting sponges for the background instead of flat brush
Sure, if you prefer! I've never cared for using sponges while painting, but I know a lot of people love them, so that's perfectly fine :)
Jane could you do more backgrounds like this but maybe with colors that aren't so dark
StephanieLWillis89 I'm sure there'll be more :)
Great painting
Thank you, Khalid!
Thank you, Khalid!!
Super cute! Can you do an elephant painting one day?! I need to hang an elephant picture on my wall and I know you would come up with something amazing and adorable for an elephant! Thanks!!

is gloss medium the same as matt medium? im sure their texture isn't but other than that are they the same?
Pretty much. Matte medium doesn't make the colors quite as transparent as gloss medium. For this painting, you could absolutely use gloss instead of matte :)

Is the term 'flowy bits' SFW? lol
Hahaha! Yes, I believe so, though I guess it depends on the context you use it in, lol.
Saltwater Joys - Kelley Joyce
Please forgive my ignorance, but what’s SFW?
Hi jane. B thanks🌺💐
