My God this is just insane. It's a one minute forty seconds continuous shot with an impromptu self choreographed performance by Sonakshi is so amazing.. Every frame is like a painting. Cinematography, lighting, DI work is just out of this world. Just can't wait for the series to start.

@@justfloating9787 You know some directors have this tendency of letting the actors do their thing rather than them directing everything. Since this is an uncut shot Mr Bhansali must have explained the scene and the reactions and must have(well, it looked like that for me)asked Sonakshi to react naturally to the beats of the song and dance as she likes. I mean he also must have told Sonakshi to step on the table at particular beat or hold the glass in a particular way and look at Aditi Rao seriously and the rest of what she did must have been self choreographed moves I guess.He must have seen couple of shots and OKeyed the best of those. Probably the Choreographer must have directed the extras what exactly to do otherwise they wouldn't have synced so perfectly with Sonakshi's moves. I used the word 'Impromptu' because nobody must have expected how she would choreograph herself to the song played.

Emotional but yet the anger is so heartrenching. I did had a expectation that Bhansali might make every courtesan be graceful as Chandramukhi in Devdas. But, this song is so close to reality. The courtesan/sex worker are usually flamboyant and we did see some glances of that finally❤

I believe that a good director always has that ability to bring out the performer from an actor. SLB knows his craft very well. Sonakshi was mostly used as an eye candy in the films in early stages of her career. I was really impressed by her in Kalank and now seeing her in this role with this wide range of expressions in just a single shot without any cut in a duration of just two minutes is truly unbelievable. Looking forward to her performance. Can't wait to see this masterpiece.

The last scene and Sonakshi's eyes say a lot.Simply it shows the rivals between the other girls and Sonakshi. Whole dance sequence is in one frame as if the ladies from opposite house could watch. Sona is trying to voo audience and in turn deliberately showing her rivals that she is also competent in all skills. Making people to hold her hands is a mataphore that she can also make crowd do anything for her. She may not know classical dance like rivals but she knows how to win heart. Her ambitions and rivalary can be seen in her eyes in last scene.

If Sonakshi had been promoted the same way as some actresses, she would have been at the top. She has a huge potential. But what I like most about her is that she is absolutely unlike today's youth, who strive only for a slim body, but not for the manifestation of talent on the screen. Sonakshi looks like those great actresses of the past and this charm is not visible to everyone, which makes her really a diamond among hundreds of fakes.
Even one thing I noticed is that we don't get to see Sonakshi in many Bollywood celebs party except Salman Khan. Manish Malhotra, Srk's bday, Karan Johar's diwali bash or Ambani's program, not even any award function.

I love how much you can tell about the story from this. We can see that Sonakshi's character herself is not a skilled dancer. She doesn't have the capabilities of a prominent courtesan but she has an almost occult charm and manipulates people around her into submission. Her clientele has British members who are themselves not very well versed in the Hindustani courtesan culture. If we compare this with Sakal Ban, we can see her neighbors are much more rich, influential and cultured. There will be clash where Sonakshi's character will try to dethrone her neighbors.
