This is a nice change of pace.
No its not
Wrestling hasn't been nearly as hot as it was 20 years ago and I don't think it will ever reach that height again.
This is what's wrong with idiots like you. Just because it's not as hot as 20 years ago, doesn't mean it's not good. Why are you here then? Get over it because times have changed. Move on from your Attitude Era fanboyism.
Yeah the times have just changed. Obviously wrestling goes back decades, but it was huge in the late 90s because it fit so well with that late 90s renegade, in your face, extreme culture of the 90s. The stars like Steve Austin, Rock, Goldberg, etc. all were much bigger cultural figures than any current wrestling star. Cena was the last wrestler to become a household name. I just don’t see a way that wrestling become cool again. The rise of the UFC gave people a way to see what real fighting looks like, and I feel like the kind of person who used to watch Raw or Nitro in the 90s now watches MMA.
So you are asking Bill Simmons - Who owns the ringer - And they have several WWE podcasts focusing primarily on WWE. And you are asking Ariel Helwani- who just interviewed Triple H in one of his biggest interviews. Yeah... this won't be biased
They sound like typical s'marks to me
So you wrote a comment before watching the video? This won't be biased

bring back helwani! i cant believe i have never seen this,, do this again or some version of it,.
The crowd was great in wales
WWE tossed all my goodwill down a hole, I still believe in AEW.
MGF
Talk about Logan Paul’s impact man
I'm like Ariel in that I've really got back into wrestling since HHH took over
I stopped watching wrestling in like 2014 I couldn’t even name you one wrestler right now🤣
This isn’t really a segment right?
Nope its a shill
It is and you decided to watch it 😂😂.
@@brandonwhite4992 no didn’t watch it, subbed for real sports
Let's be honest!!!!! Wrestling fall off when The Rock and Stone Cold left because they brought in so much charisma and everybody was a big fan of them and they sell out every night..... They was other fighter like Triple H, John Cena, Undertaker but they wasn't the bigger star than them.
Nice
Aew has been undoubtedly the better quality product since day 1. However wrestling just isn't as popular as it once was and I just don't see a world where aew overtakes wwe in popularity.
Yeah, have Punk lose in a couple minutes, have him win a couple days later, strip the title, have the guy that just won/lost the title win the vacant tournament. Great booking and quality product 🤦♂
@@illuminatedstorm we could go back and forth on bad booking decisions by both companies for hours but that's dumb, much like your comment
S'marks use "prah duck" constantly because you geeks get all geeked up by the likes of Bryan Alvarez
I concur, that one can enjoy 'Indie wrestling', but some of the botches in early AEW programs were pretty horrific. What gets to little attention these days is micwork and the ability to draw heat.
An example of that:
I recently found to Summerslam 88 clip in my UA-cam rotation, where Honky Tonk Man was able, just by talking and mannerism, to set up an immense pop for the Ultimate Warrior, with his 'Get me somebody to wrestle' soundbite. That put a curtain to a long and money draing heel run with the IC-Belt and pushed the extremly limited Jim Hellwig on a pedestal.
Currently there are to few wrestlers in both company who could pull something of like that.
Seth Rollins, MJF, Charlotte Flair are for me one of those!
AEW is a complete disaster right now and WWE is gaining a lot of momentum with HHH running the show. The backstage fight, subsequent suspensions and striping of titles was really a bad look for AEW. The biggest belt on the brand has been flip flopping and the booking in general has been very poor recently in my opinion. All of this while WWE is gaining back alot of favor and having some of it's best booking in years. When AEW first came out it was refreshing and I thought it had a real chance to give WWE some real competition. And now it seems to be going down the same path as WCW and really messing up a golden opportunity. It still has a chance to rectify the situation but the path it's going down at the moment is very concerning.
aew has been doing over a million on live gates and they've been doing over a million on cable for five straight weeks Arthur Ashe did a million on live gate they're constantly top two on cable lmao how tf is that a disaster? If anything it's the total opposite they're white hot right now that press conference was a blessing in disguise. it created alot of buzz and alot more people tuned in and alot of those people stayed you're a clown
AEW is SOOOOOO much better than anything WWE has put o in a couple of decades now!!
This didn't age well.
Inimitable Bill, not unimitatable.
Describing AEW as "floundering" is pretty ridiculous, they had some big backstage drama, but that means the company is floundering? Is Vince having to step down not also big backstage drama?
Why do we have to all of a sudden pretend that AEW is "floundering" or "cratering" just cuz WWE has been better since HHH took over? Why can't both companies just be doing well?
I love AEW but issa Mess rn... too much talent and too little time slots to even cut story promos that make sense
It's all over the place. Confused and disjointed.
i mean they did admit how well aew is doing and that they're fine
Not even watching the video just came here to say if you really think wwe has been better than aew the last year or two then you’re probably 12 years old and your mommy doesn’t curse around you
"I'm a freshman now, I like blood, I'm not a 12 year old baby who still likes a hobby I've loved all my life!"
I mean if roman is still champ did it really change ...
He is only losing to Cody (maybe)

Wrestling is an outdated form of entertainment
I don't think there's a sport that isn't outdated
@@MPHswayze Wrestling isn't a sport
@@Fayn757 Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Don't be some macho man who then ends up denying the athletes respect, they work their ass off.
It can't be that outdated because WWE gets some of the highest ratings on TV and are a successful publicly traded corporation.
@@brandonwhite4992 to the people who say they don't compete "for real:" they are literally competing for TV time. They compete for the money of a main eventer. They compete for relevance, they compete for peer validation. Any sport with predetermined results are also not competing "for real" like the NBA, NFL, figure skating. So they compete for the same things Wrestlers do
@joceja23 read the comment before mine. No
I was super duper into wrestling from like '96 till '01 then dropped it completely. By 2004 i was surprised and kinda embarrassed for people who were still into it. Especially grown adult men. I don't get it. It's fake. It's horrible over, over, over acting and with the impact of online p0rn the women aren't as enticing. An adult telling me they're into watching wrestling is almost like them telling me they believe in ghost, flat earth, and other things that make you question their cognitive maturity.
I am not a huge fan of wrestling anymore, but it isn't fake.. I remember as a kid I used to get confused when people called it fake because it was like, well how is it fake when they are actually doing that shit 😂. It is fixed, really just a performance art, and is not much different than a play or a movie. I think people just have an issue with wrestling because of some weird ego thing attached to fights being simulated, but are okay with (as I am) dragons and orcs and other wild shit. Calling it fake is disrespectful to those wrestlers who are top level athletes and often get seriously injured. Them crashing in that ring or tables or whatever the hell is not fake at all, that shit is actually happening 😂
Yeah you were basically a fair weather fan... You just liked it when all your friends or whenever it had its last big boom period. Honestly I don't get why people like you want to always put wrestling down. Yeah it's predetermined but what isn't in entertainment.. Every single movie and tv show is predetermined that you watch.. Why trash on what people watch especially since you say you use to watch it. I don't get your kind lol I will just say that.
I see people defending Disney Star Wars and GoT Season 8. Wrestling fans are fine.
Why do you care what people what interested in? You have a weird mentality.
Talking about wrestling like its an actual sport does nothing but hurt your credibility.
Bro I am not a huge fan of it, but like it or not it is a sport.. It takes physicality and skill and it is done for entertainment, boom, there is your sport.
Calling it not a sport does nothing but hurt your intelligence credibility.
Wrestling is as legit as Boxing and UFC. :D More so, in my opinion.
