To be fair, stun batons are one of the most loot luck based weapons in the game. If you get the right tech books stun batons are brutal, if TFP's seed derived randomized chart (Iirc the rolls are made when the game save is generated and then whenever you open a loot container the next unused roll on the chart is applied with loot stage variables applied then, atleast that's how they did it in A21) decides "Nah" then you s.o.l.
@21:21 - there's a zed on the left of screen beating on a pylon. It might have been a head-drop situation, but important to try and make sure the supports are z-proof before committing to a build.
I want to see a baton playthrough as much as everyone else...but I agree with Woodle a bit on his "IF"...I love the baton myself, but where it really shines is in multi-player. One or two folks with lightsticks up front for crowd control, backed up by some firepower behind is peak 7D. Nothing can stand up to a team using those tactics. So maybe a crossover with another player, Woodle?
At this point Josh should just start trolling viewers by building an AFK base like this, and wielding a stun baton while watching the lemmings drop. I'd laugh hard!
He would have to use the baton while looting anyway. I wouldn't mind if he did afk bases for the whole series as stun batons are under intellect, now I know woodle lacks intellect but he can make smart afk intellect bases and just use stun baton to loot and stuff.

Idk, man. I built nearly the exact same lake/bridge base ( just added a crawl-force-tunnel to the dropper, which worked perfectly fine ) and all Zombies and animals go straight for the supporting pillars beneath me after hitting the water - despite not being in destroy-area-mode! They just do it. They're in wander or interest but keep returning to the pillar to attack it. Water seems to be broken and thus for now not recommendable for building a base...
Josh is going to stack the deck so far against himslef for the stun baton series he dies in like 15 days and then its done lol. Darkness falls, feral sense, in the clocktower, zombies run all the time and sprint at night to start 😂
Yeah I gave up on the short keyboard, could not get used to the missing functions. Trying to distract people so they would forget the SB challenge is not going to work
It's nice to see someone deep diving (hehe) into water usage for a horde base. I've been using water with a pathway drop base for a while now. Zombies run 5 blocks above my height at 15 blocks away from me. They drop down onto a pole pathway but they often miss and fall into a 2 deep water pit. They hit the bottom and have to stand as if there was no water but then swim to repeat. It works great but isn't 100% but damn near to it. So, some little maintenance with some weird Destroy Area mode positions but not bad. It's fun watching the rain of zombies as they miss the path and it helps regulate their flow (a nice change since the all night horde night). Cheers.
I have no hard proof of this, but I strongly suspect that TFP "adjustment" of AI to manage large numbers of zombies at once (ie, making some of them really dumb) can happen randomly on spawn. Might explain why Arlene can't seem to path immediately sometimes.

can we get some footage of what happens when a primed demo detonates under water and how that affects things. I had a cheese base in a small lake and it happened to me on a horde night, leaving a crater at the foot of my base. water level stayed the same but i don't know if the change affected the zombie AI of how much damage it did to the structure, or even how it looked. it didn't seem to have a splash effect.
The ladders were not the problem, there is a "Distance" from player trigger after they fall too. For a certain point after a fall (I have heard 20 seconds) if they come within 10 meters of you there is a chance of destroy everything, the stairs didn't get close to you, the ladder did. Maybe someone should test the time... hint hint...
Love this, I did a base like this on Mr Reach's server years ago, where I built my home underneath the freeway with all open walls of glass so you could see around. It was so cool. Would do horde nights with 6 or 7 people and have so many zombies it was epic
Woodle already stated that the Stun Baton challenge series will NOT be perma-death. Simply so he cannot intentionally die and end it on the first day (or week, etc.) It will run its full length.
If you squint your eyes and hold up a thumb the bridge base oddly looks like a stun baton. Woodle can’t help but create stun batons and only sees the world in stun batons.
Nice that you added in the droppers in addition to the drawbridge. I have no doubt the drawbridges are going to get patched so having the droppers there makes for a more TFP resistant design.

You 'could' build a double wide base on the end of the pier such that you can drive in one side and out the other. Lots of potential for a team base, or a large solo base. Until they patch/fix the drawbridges.

one intresting thing on the draw bridge is that u just have to install it on the other side, not on ur base/place ur standing, then they dont see it as a way to u. of course it hast to be up so the path isnt open. so u can use drawbridges on ur base without messing the pathfinding up. i saw a comment of a pretty pissed follower that installed it and it ruined the way he built his hordebase cause the zombies always try the drawbridge. but i did a kind of ramp in front of my hordebase and installed it there, and it only touches my hordebase when i lower it. so i guess they dont see it as a way to u, since its not attached to ur base. at least for me it works fine. thought this might help some frustrated players that want a drawbridge, since its, i mean... its a friggin drawbridge... of course i want one in my base 😆 its a stylish way to enter your fortress 😁 and maybe it helps u with future testings too. and now stop procrastinating and grab your goddam stun baton 🤣🤣 its pretty fun actually. i was pretty surprised. it has its weakness, sure, but also its strenghts, specially after maxing out physician. it really helps to actually kill sumthing in less than 50 hits 😜 sumtimes even several 1 hits on bigger z's one after another. of course its rng, but 10 percent isnt as bad as it sounds. except ur very unlucky. but at least it has most survivability potential, specially with larger groups and if u got nerd tats its absolutely fun. repulsor mod, rad remover and maxxed out physician are a must have, thats for sure, but then it can actually work and is pretty funny. sumtimrs a bit exhausting to hit 29 times without any kill, but at least they cant kill you either ^^so u got time to wait for ur rng usually. and yes, its even more frustrating before u get those mods and a nice stun baton. so the sooner u start ur friggin playthrough the faster u get those and get over it 😁
I built a dropper in to water with only a 2 block gap, 2 blocks above water and 4 below. Although, I keep another 2 block buffer from the edge, so no melee. Also, they won't try to jump at me. I also only use stairs to get out of water. I built a lake pier base, but didn't know they spawn in water, so ended up adding droppers for the sides of base.
pffft for some reason, with the way you made the stairway on the bridge I had this image of making a build that looks like an airplane with zombies dropping from a broken cockpit and climbing back up some "unfolded" stairs to board the plane XD
I built my horde base on the river bridge on the release of 1.0 and did come across zombies either spawning under water or me missing them wading into the water to get to me in the middle of the bridge. Initially they just started wailing on the bridge pylons during the whole horde night. This was before your video on the unpassable zombie block found on the bridge, which may have explained it. In other notes, I have drained a couple of swimming pools, which has now led me to see if I can drain the lake...
They might have fixed water bases. Cuz it used to be a thing that if you build far enough from the shore you could afk the horde night by not having any zombies spawn.
Water slows zombies,... crawler bases slows zombies ,... slow zombies make for nice grenade-able groups. --> Please woodle-ify this knowledge. (ie can you fill a crawler base with water and make them super slow? can they crawl when submerged?)
Im pretty sure the center barrier block on the bridge has been patch, I tried using the block and I watched several zombies jump over them to get to me on hoard night
natural water body is good... but I made a 5x5 2 blocks deep pool and that should be 50-70 buckets delivery for the second layer, almost a day of go to lake and back, and zombies still rage a lot.
For fun I played with the water physics, pool is 7x7x20 built near a shallow lake then a culvert from the lake to the pool, before connecting the lake, I built the stairway to let the Z's escape, breached the lake end then let the water physics fill it up. Had a pretty waterfall for a short time.
I still think you're missing a trick by not using the 0.0125 pole centre (vertical placement). 12121 (height) and they wont make it past the 2nd 2 high. No need for sides so you can get it done in 7 blocks.
Okay. I DO have a question. When the Arlenes (in the test first iteration) went all PMSing on the ladders, could the shape of the block be an issue? ie, scaffolding, round or square block units?
It looks good but the admins of the servers don't like it very much because it gives a lot of lag in the server being this type of base inside the lakes
Jawoodle i got a question here. If zombie block damage is set to 300% and blood moon damage is set to 300% does that stack? So is it 3x damage all around regardless of bloodmoon or not or 6x damage because 300% + 300% or 9x damage because 300% bloodmoon multiplied by the standard 300%?
Do you know what the UnreachAbove is in the zombie stats.. I've noticed that even with a drop of over 15 blocks, zombies will have the UnreachAbove stat and go into a destroy area...
I built a horde base on that bridge & on horde night the zombies did not spawn , I went in investigate and when I got to the shore they all spawned it ended badly
I have a request can you place soil grass block on that massive slate you made and see if zombies spawn off player placed soil because i covered my roof with grass and had zombies chewing from above my house into it and its a floating house so i dont know if it spawned on the grass i placed since there was no way to get to the roof.

Lol. The best part is stun baton does actually kind of suck in 1.0 😂. It needs a little more damage since they buffed zombie HP.

They actually worked before full release, my first dropper base/ hoard base/ crafting base was oof the back of the bait shop, nice and deep there.
