Appreciate the explanation and especially the part on pump cavitation. However I think it could have been even better if you had actually filmed the procedure instead of pointing to parts some of which were not visible due to the side covers being in place.
+Mister Bean I see your point - I used to gear these videos for only those who are very mechanically experienced, but I have been adding in more detail in recent videos to help out those who are not as much. I'm an engineer, so some things seem incredibly obvious to me that aren't at all to others. Thanks for watching!
@@verysmallcats1374 instead of filling the radiator I’ve filled the reservoir, as it was never properly shown where to add the coolant. Doing it for the first time is simply missed that. Now rewatching I can see that you’ve mentioned “radiator fill area” but I didn’t know exactly what you mean. I got the Haynes guide for 20smth bucks and this entire procedure is shown way better there. Also you’ve missed one drain spot that is above the starter. I know that making a video while changing the coolant is pain in the but, but showing how it’s done with the cover on is simply misleading.
So now I got to do the whole process again… hope I didn’t do any damage, obviously the cooling system was not working, but I didn’t heat the bike, just did a quick test and realized that something is wrong. Backtracking the whole process I’ve realised my mistake.
Also I think there is no reason to disconnect the lower pipe going from the radiator, the second time I’ve managed to drain the whole system without this step, and putting the clamp back was a unnecessary pain in the butt. Also you didn’t show how to remove the radiator cap, which to me was also confusing. If you would expand on that I think I would miss where to add the coolant. I couldn’t open this cap so thought that it’s impossible to add coolant there. I only managed to loosen the radiator cap but now fully open… now I know you need to press down on it to open it fully. Once you open it fully this becomes obvious where the coolant goes.
the only guy in the world to not use distilled water.
BMW told me to use distilled. Dont know what this guy is doing.
even the manual says distilled @@michaelota5167
Right!? 😂
thanks, used your video to learn about my DIY coolant change

How much coolant do you need to refill a F800GS after flushing? Thanks
about 1.3 liters
It did help me, thanks!
Any critics are welcome to post a better video.
Well, at least couldn't be more useless
I'm pretty sure you didn't do anything.
Theres a screw in the front that drains
Good catch! Engine block screw about 2" above starter has copper sealing washer
Useless
Para no hacerlo mejor ni subir el video
This video is confusing…
How so? What part is confusing?

I don't believe you even have a GS.
At the time of filming I did - owned this one from new for about 3 years. Thanks for watching!
