    So far nearly all of the comments I've seen are morons who didn't even manage to listen to what I said and simply want to argue utterly futile points. This is why I rarely waste my time reading the comment section. You can shout at a brick wall from now on, it would be a fitting conversation partner.

    The storyline is just literally the sickest timeline possible. I think that's what made this win so fucking amazing.
    > C9 drops n0thing and shroud, two legends in North America
    > Builds what many would call an NA dream team
    > Wins a bunch of small events, but can't seem to put the pieces together against tougher opposition, getting decimated by FaZe multiple times
    > Gets through First stage pretty easily
    > Goes down 0-2 in the second stage and then reverse sweeps to make playoffs...breaking skadoodle's group stage curse at majors
    > Proceeds to beat G2 and SK, the #3 and #2 favorites to win the event, but has to beat FaZe, inarguably their biggest threat in the finals
    > Ska goes fucking nuts in the final with probably his best performance in the past year.
    > Cloud9 loses map 1 (their map pick no less) to beat FaZe on what i'd say is their best map. Then the decider goes down super early to have some absurd comeback to win in double OT (in what i'd probably say is a top 3 map i've ever watched). Winning the first Major for an NA team...and they fucking do it in North America no less.
    If this was a story it'd be some mad cliche...except it's not...

    It was fun seeing ska doing things he would never do with the old roosters. He is aggressive, re-peeks, holds off-angles, takes risks. He has had a huge revelation in his mentality finally being able to trust his team to clean up after him and secure the rounds when he cant. This trust was a sub-conscious reason why he is somewhat inconsistent at time imo. I would enjoy to watch him develop more and more into a kennyS type of awp'er where he can change the flow of the game by himself. And with his consistent shots he is scary as fuck. Glad a underdog won, but at the same time i feel for FaZe.

      jjdn43 That must've been a heartbreaking loss as a fan of FaZe. If it's any consolation: In that shape, FaZe didn't really deserve the win. Strategically, they played so far from their potential in this game. FaZe does deserve to win a major but one where they are the ones to take out all the competition and actually show the world that they are the absolute best. If they'd won now, there would've still be a huge amount of doubters because of how they won.
      The time will come for GuardiaN and NiKo to lift that trophy.

    45 minutes later and the fact remains, C9 outplayed Faze as a team on the final two maps to win the major. Towards the end, Faze was the team that was too reliant on with individual plays and clutches. C9 has shown themselves to be improving rapidly as a team, playing aggressively still, but not overextending. Faze was winning clutches they shouldn't have, getting silly kills through walls, smoke and they have a more skilled roster. C9 won because they were able to adapt, execute and have some damn good aimers of their own.

    I see C9 going on to be 3rd best team in the world, maybe 2nd. I don't see how anyone can really challenge SK as they are so consistent, but C9 can probably beat them once or twice in BO3s. It will be interesting to see C9 vs Faze in the future, and if it was a mental block that C9 overcame so they can start winning consistently (unlikely). I do think they will beat G2 and Astralis more times than not, and as they tend to not get upset too frequently, C9 should more than likely continue their form of getting top 4's and getting to finals, hopefully including the next major.

The only part of this whole video i disagree with is that for a day C9 was, in fact, the best team in the world. Do I believe that C9 is better than Faze Clan? Nah.... Not by a long shot. Do I believe the stars aligned for C9? Not that either. I honestly see the results for what they are...for a day they played the best CS. They fashioned their own incredible plays and won as well as taking what the other team gave them and won. Period. It's a dreamy thing to want to see more of this high caliber playing from C9. I thought that c9 looked really good in this tournament because they had extremely good teamplay. It seemed to me they weren't relying on sick individual play to win rounds (apart from the semis and finals). They were clinical and decisive in their play and yes they got out aimed sometimes but it was excellent the way they traded into sites and were disciplined on ct side. It is for this reason I think and hope that they can have good showings in other tournaments as well and be a legit top 5 or top 6 team and in the convo to win.

Though I don’t see why they should change anything about their lineup. Who would replace karrigan? And even if they did replace him there’d be a phase of adapting where they most likely wouldn’t be as good.

      Sandro Batinović Gambit had a much easier road than C9. G2 was unstoppable in playoffs. SK won many titles with felps (no excuse) and looked dominant aswell. C9 defeated all top 4 teams and outplayed FaZe in the finals. Btw C9 was already a tier 1 team before this major title. No need to be butthurt.

I think the biggest thing I've seen is that they actually used strats that a lot of the best teams in the world use on it like astralis and some of the flashes that G2 like to use on it. I think it will die down a bit and sit at about their 3rd or 4th best map depending on if they can also keep up their form on inferno.

      One of the biggest contributing factors to this might be how esports and video gaming in general is looked down upon, especially if you spend hours and hours on a game improving and being good. The esports culture was abysmal in NA (not really sure how it is in europe) but now that people are actually starting to accept it after all these years you have orgs really dedicated to helping out the team practice and mentally focus as well.

      Impulsive get_right in his prime. Forest in his prime. Olofmeister in his prime. Coldzera right now. This is a common fallacy that occurs in not just e sports, but all sports in general. He is seen as such a great player because of longevity, he has been a very good player for so long, but he has never been considered the best in the world. Name on point in time he was thought of as the best player in the world. Even when he was close to being considered that, he lost the major to sk(luminosity at the time) and coldzera dominated and showed why he was the best player in the world. He was never better than Device when he was the best, never better than get_right when he was the best, never better than Olof when he was the best, he wasn’t even better Dennis at the time. Such an overrated player. Dont get me wrong, he’s still great and the fact that he has been able to compete at the highest level is amazing and speaks to his career but he’s just that, always been a great player but never been elite

    @Thorin I wouldn't say you are wrong on one point but not completely accurate. You said stewie and tarik seem to have the same philosophy on crazy individual plays. That's not entirely accurate, at least not in the final. There was a highlight clip where stewie says "we don't need to make individual plays, we can win as a team" and I think that was important. They really played as a team and I think that made the difference. When they made individual plays it was with a teammate pop flashing etc. Trading well etc.

    • @HecticCookies
      @HecticCookies 6 років тому

      martyfriedman666 yeah but the series was won with a lot of crazy plays from stew and tarik

    • @irishRocker1
      @irishRocker1 6 років тому

      Liam Hosey yes I know, that ace from tarik for example was pretty crazy! But at the same time they knew not to get reckless and work together. Could have easily made a bad play at the wrong time and not had teammates to back them up. For example against sk the round that sealed it when fallen fell back to ruins with the awp and stewie pushed the smoke and killed him. He wasn't alone. Automatik was right there with him for the trade if things went wrong. that was a crazy play but with teamwork. They made some crazy plays but there was also a lot of occasions where they played very passive on the sites to not give anything away etc. I'm not saying I disagree I'm just saying there was crazy plays but also smart, safe teamwork when it was needed too. Really good utility not wasting nades early etc.

    • @syNix1337
      @syNix1337 6 років тому

      That might be what they say, but when you watch the games is when the true 'philosophy' shows itself. Clearly Thorin is right in this regard. Moreover, that sentence is quite ambiguous.

    • @irishRocker1
      @irishRocker1 6 років тому

      First off i didn't say he wasn't right. I said it's not completely accurate, and it's not.
      A "philosophy" is a theory or attitude that acts as a guiding principle. A guide. Doesn't mean they can't break away from that "guide" from time to time when it makes sense to do so. At times it is necessary rather than a choice. However the fact they said that shows that the overarching "philosophy", it was their intention, to play off team work and not give away easy pics or make mistakes and get caught out. Doesn't mean they cant make those plays now and then but you could clearly see that were playing safe and passive a lot too (Sgares and Dazed both did videos on it and both talked about how defensive their setup was) and not giving anything away when they didn't need to. Obviously if you lose a man you usually need to make a move to even it up in CSGO or you are at a disadvantage but that doesn't invalidate the philosophy to play and win as a team when possible.

    • @syNix1337
      @syNix1337 6 років тому

      Right, but what I'm saying is that "we don't need to make individual plays, we can win as a team" is ambiguous. Is he referring to their style of play (philosophy)? Is he just chanting something to lift the spirit? We don't know that. Cloud9 relies notoriously on individual plays, and I even think this final solidified that. Sure, they played extremely well together, but they also had massive individual plays. I heavily disagree that their 'overarching philosophy' as you put it is teamwork, when you compare them to other top teams. Furthermore, if that highlight clip was from the major itself, then that really only proves what I'm saying. If he had to announce something like that at the major, and not beforehand, then how can you seriously claim that that's the overarching philosophy?

  • @tehsma
    @tehsma 6 років тому

    I don't have much history watching these teams / this game but to me as an outsider, I felt like the c9 double AWP setup was key to them winning. When they changed that up they started to lose momentum, when they brought it back, they did great.

    Faze cracked under pressure, watching it, it seemed like they couldn’t figure out what to do in order to win rounds, they couldn’t find a solution to c9 playing passive on A which is what they did in their ct side, so you should have something there, and couldn’t find a solution to a sick B defense from stewie and autimatic. Tarik played out of his mind and made the right calls, seemed like Faze was not expecting them to play so scrimmy and aggressive. C9 deserved it, period.

    I was physically at major. I'd say biggest thing in favor of c9 and what helped them win was crowd. They got shockingly loud. And they always amped up the c9 players. Famously NBK couldn't communicate because the crowd was to loud in g2 game. And in the final they got to Niko. Chanting "Niko's choking" where he was on overpass for first half. Inferno may have sealed it as one of best major finals. But the audience had a big part in it imo. Which pissed me off because I chose FaZe to win
