He said exactly what I've been thinking and what the media haven't been bringing up.

Another bright, articulate rebuttal that feels like a butt-kicking.
    Nice one!

Obama I read your book and I know it was a long time ago, but your life has been a journey and you have always worked hard to push your life into the right direction, from those early years you wanted to help people, and still you want to help people, so everything you have done shows us you should be President.

I just made another campaign donation. I have voters registration on Saturday. We must win!

    (continued)
The way you have assembled your campaign, the way you LEAD this movement of change....and the value of your VISIONS...makes you QUALIFIED for this position as president. Being a civil rights lawyer...having constitutional law under your belt, well...to me, is just the icing on the cake. I have been following your campaign since day 1... and I vote for you....BECAUSE of your community experience and your grassroot philosophies.

  • @cvintmsw

I have a degree in community and international developement,it was my concentration for my Master's in Social Work degree. Grassroots organizing is the foundation of any cause and any change we have ever seen in our country. Grassroots is the definition of "by the people, for the people"....excuse me, buy community organizing is not an "executive" position....but it IS a leadership position Mrs. Pallin. Barack, don't defend how long ago you were a community organizer, right out of school.

Obama handled this question brilliantly. The Republican party dismisses and belittles the impoverished and struggling Americans (whose numbers in the current economy are only getting larger) at their own peril.

  • @artsygirlnessa

Great comment by Barack's campaign manager: "Community organizing is how ordinary people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies." I'm aghast that McCain said "The status quo's got to go" because McCain and everyone connected to him IS the status quo. Their fight is waged for white rural America, aka the status quo, the people who have the most power and agency in this country. Barack & community organizers fight for the disenfranchised, so what is there to be ashamed of?

If we had a Republican congress, I would vote for this guy in a minute.
We've already seen the problems a party can cause when they have control of everything.
That and I'm not a big fan of the government putting a gun to my head and telling me to help other people do what I did for myself without any help.

the country deserves Obama...In my opinion, i do think that Obama has plans for each and every issue that Americans are facing, and that he is very detailed on his missions to be accomplished in order to solve what's really going on within the country, I repeat, WITHIN THE COUNTRY... for McCain, all they can say about him is that he is the perfect candidate to lead our country forward, and that he is a true soldier. i mean hello, is there anything else?and look at what kind of VP he chose...-

  • @msscience

Com. Organizing is important. In a few states, those who have served their debt to society (released from prison) R not automatically given all their civil rights (THEY CANNOT VOTE). This issue has been in the hands of the GOV of KY for a too LONG time, and is unlikely 2 be resolved on this an ELECTION year.!! One city church is ORGANIZING the community 2 bring attention & get this issue sent to the Supreme court so it will become a judicial decision and not left in the hands of politicians.

It's completely relevant to me that this president will not have spent his whole life in a privileged bubble, spoiled from day one.
It's relevent to me that this president has spent time with the people least heard from, and that he still knows we're struggling to be heard.
It's TOTALLY relevent to that the other 'team' doesn't get this at all, and in fact has contempt for folks who try to better the lives of those less fortunate with something besides a handout.

So this woman was a mayor of a town of 9000 people yet Obama got 84,000 people in a stadium built to hold 75,000. Now would some one please tell me if Palin could top that feat?

Palin and Guliani pretty much spit in the face of every community organizer in this country by discrediting the great things they do every day. And thats not right.

Barack Obama is the only decent choice, and he has been since the beginning of this race. It will be a beautiful thing, to have a president I'm PROUD of once again, as opposed to the illiterate embarrassment of the past eight years. I just lost my job, but if I were able to afford it, I would donate every dollar I legally could to this campaign. I'm hopeful for the future, after many years of not being so. This is not merely an election- this is a referendum on the future of America.

Absolutely! How dare they knock anyone who has lived and worked his way in the community to help uplift americans. What does that say about them. All I keep hearing is REFORM! REFORM! REFORM! From the Republicans. Reform is a smoke screen. Reform means fix Washington and hope that the effects trickle down to the country's citizens. How about invest in its Citizens and let prosperity trickle up to Washington. It's time for a change.

    - Palin used to smoke marijuana. her husband had a DUI case before. she doesn't have national security experience, etc. etc... I just hope that Obama wins, coz' I believe he will do as what he has promised, that he really means it. I trust that he can really solve our economy, healthcare, and national security issues. For McCain, i just can't seem to trust him to solve what's going on in our country. That's just my opinion....

Palin is divisive just like Bush. For her to criticize Obama for his work to help people is a testament to the fact that their ticket is clueless. And he's right. She skipped huge chapters in his life to try to compare herself to him. He's out of her league. She's feisty but so was my Grandma. Doesn't mean my Grandma was qualified to be Vice President!

Can't wait for the debate where Obama just says, "Ok, John, let's get all the attacks out now so we can REALLY talk about the issues..." The when John really does not have much more to say, we can clean house...

  • @TheArtOfTheComment
    @TheArtOfTheComment 16 років тому

Sarah Palin's bizarre denigration of Obama's community service work was completely amateurish and politically unwise. She elicited a telling laugh from her gathered crowd at the convention last night. But she should recall that there are many Americans in Chicago and elsewhere who have found jobs, a sense of fellowship, and a helping hand because of the efforts of organizers like Obama. Those latter folks are completely justified in rising up in indignation to Palin's remark last night.

Bushwacker, please keep in mind that Gore had NEGATIVE votes in Florida in 2000, but the Supreme Court wouldn't allow a recount, basically giving the presidency to Bush. And the same type of funny business happened in Ohio in 2004. What Americans need to do is vote for Obama in such large numbers that the Republicans can't steal the election again.
GET OUT OF THE VOTE PEOPLE! Donate, volunteer, register voters, get involved in your communities. THAT'S how we take back Washington.
