I don't think Sunny Ade gets enough props. I mean he brought Yoruba music to the top top top. Even more popular than English language music in Nigeria in the 60s,70s, 80s
He gets a lot of props. I remember back in the 80's, people were calling him Nigerians answer to Americans Michael Jackson ( this was way before the media destroyed Michael Jackson ). I'm sure, KSA was aware of the comparisons.

@@walebalogunk They recorded the same song on their albums back in the mid 80's. It's such a long time ago, I can't remember the title of the track. People were asking who wrote the song, but they refused to answer the questions. Legends👍💯.

what do we call this genre of music?
Truth is we are not sure. It was the beginning of combining traditional beats (fuji, afro juju and straight up Yoruba traditional music) with foreign instruments and influences . So we can say this was the forerunner of todays afrobeats.
