@@LukeMosse That's probably it. I'm a big overdrive guy, definitely on the heavy side. I enjoy some clean tones and kinda dig glassy, but if you want it warmer, this is the way to go.

I’m still getting to know it 10 years later. just the loop and interface options can be something if you are used to pushing combos with pedals. Parallel Vs series, when and why to trim the return, etc. Then the amp itself is another nut to crack. The first gain stage needs to be cooking a bit before the amp starts to feel right under your fingers. There’s so much to these amps/circuits that in my opinion you can’t just drop them in the lap of a player who’s not familiar with them and expect it to sing. That was not my experience with my Ceriatone HRM clone anyway.
Hey Michael, hope you’re doing awesome. Great demo. I think you just sold me on this pedal. As much as I dislike pedals, there are certain ones that are compellng. This is one of them. New subscriber. Thanks
There is obviously a certain Midrange in those Amps that I'm sure you could find with graphic, and of course the high quality components he used. And there is something about using FET's along with tubes that gives you a touch sensitivity! I love my Lion pedal. Would love to try this after seeing your demo.
Watching you review these things tells me nothing about the products because you sound f#%king INCREDIBLE playing thru anything. I could have you play thru our hammered 1986 Crate G-212 and you'd still come across like a master.
Peace Hill FX make an ODS and an SSS all handmade using 12ax7 tubes at proper voltages. I haven’t compared those directly to the UA pedals, but I’ve compared other tube preamps to UA and the tube stuff always sounds way more like a real amp. The Enigmatic here sounds like a very versatile transistor. It fails to capture the warmth and depth of a tube amp. Some of that is the IR, but I played the UA Marshall pedal (Golden Lion maybe?) into a 50w tube power amp with a Kerry Wright 4x12 with 70s blackbacks and it had that same quality. The solid state platform just can’t quite get there. Check out Peace Hill FX or Kingsley, they both have several killer Dumble preamps.
Incredible playing and great tones. I don't want to own anything that requires my phone/an app to get full functionality, but I'm sure this will be a fan favorite.
How cool would it have been to have the high/low step filters on this pedal for that SSS sound? Maybe they are holding out for another Dumble style pedal in the very near future!! Love the playing and tonal variety Michael that you demonstrate with this pedal!!

The one thing I wish UA would do is have the settings of each preset in their app. Once you use the alt setting you have no idea what your original settings were or vice versa. Come on UA! Otherwise, these are the best AIAB available today. I don't care if they sound like a dumble or whatever, I only care that they sound awesome and they do.
I'm happy with my Zendrive and it didn't cost anywhere near what this pedal will set you back. Heck, I also have a NuX Steel Singer that does a reasonable D-Tone and they sell for $50.00. However! Someone has to satisfy those with more money than sense.
Everyone throws Eric Johnson's name around when talking Dumble amps, but he barely used an ODS and is mostly known for using the Steel String Singer as his "middle channel" "dirty rhythm" amp he ran his Fuzz Face into. The sound most people think of when it comes to EJ's huge lead tone is the Tube Driver into Plexi. Sorry to be "that guy"... your channel rules and I love all your videos!
Hi TechMR. Yeah... so that DID occur to me as I was filming this. The big lead tone is a Marshall. But, I thought, "Maybe only TechMetalRules will notice." 🤣😁
@BigHairyGuitars Hahaha! Yeah, of course 'I' would notice! But hey, he did technically have an ODS at one point, so you're not wrong! Thanks, and keep up the awesome videos comin'!

With Dumble amp simulators (for a lack of better term), I'm often confuse as to 'which' Dumble amp the said unit is trying to emulate. Literally every Dumble is unique and hence, there's no 'standard' sound? (Correct me if I am wrong!). But like I said at the start, you sound great and this is a great addition to the UA pedal arsenal.
Hi! Thanks for the nice compliment! UA tried to make a ODS but cover lots of different variations of it. So, it's much more flexible than most Dumble emulations, but yeah. Dumble amps were each unique, so 🤷♂️
Think it sounds great and all, but I feel in the hands of a competent player like yourself that's a given. I've never bought into any of the dumble hype and feel like I can get many of the tones that are dumble with a modest odr or similar drive. Nonetheless, hopefully this hits a niche for guys that are seeking out that sound particular sound. Great as always Michael
I was all disappointed because there was no awesome song to open the video, and then BAM! there it was in the middle and with bgv's even (and awesome of course). Yet another great demo!
I think it sounds pretty darn good, but then again, your playing adds to that experience.. Vert nice. Can this pedal but run into the front of an amp or is it just for direct like an interface? Would love to know. Thanks….

Who the f… cares about whether it sounds like a real Dumble or not, most of us will never know. The pedal sounds and plays just fantastic. Period. And its much cheaper and easier to get than a real Dumble amp. UA does the best modelling to my ears. I own the Lion and the Marshall SV20 and the Lion sounds and feels almost indistinguishable from the tube amp. In some ways it even sounds better than the SV20 since its modelled after a 68 Superlead which is different to the SV20. I have full trust in UA when it comes to modelling and all their pedals are super fun to play. Prefer them over my AxeFX FM3 because they are easier to dial in. FM3 has just too many options and takes quite some work to dial in to full liking.
If Dumbles really did sound like this UAFX pedal, no one would pay a $¼ million for one. And trust me on this, if they put a good sound in a digital pedal, they can put all these UAFX sounds in one pedal or on an app. And all of them together for under $400.

Every sound you produced, I can produce on a simple pedalboard with a few effects that I have very simple. There's nothing unique about dumble. It's all smoke and mirrors has been for 50 years. People will pay up to $250,000 for it. Go ahead. I won't pay $400 for something I can already produce from basic effects pedals that we all have. Appreciate.
