No new cars feel the same as older versions of it. The soul of cars now is make everything easy and faster. The joys of working for something while driving is what makes you enjoy the drive. The older I get the less power I want and the more feel I desire. Wished you kept the E46 it’s such an amazing car driving to the edge but I agree the sound is an acquired taste. Merry Christmas Matt
I feel the same.. I have a gt350 now and I’m afraid it will be the last naturally aspirated 500hp v8 manual transmission on the planet .. it requires your full attention and rewards you for driving it intentionally.. plus the sound is incredible… don’t get me started on ev’s
My favorite M3 of all by far. Had your prior E92 mod journey been on UA-cam when I had my 2011 E90 manual comp pkg, it would probably still be in the garage. No doubt this one deserves a place in your garage for the long term.
Matt's E92 videos are favorites of mine. I picked up a 2020 GT4 a couple months ago and love it. At the time, my other "fun cars" were still my E92 M3, E39 M5, and E46 M3. I tried to figure out what I should keep or sell because cars need to serve a purpose for me. I don't want cars just to have cars. The GT4 takes over track duty for my E46, and also fulfills the Cars & Coffee car need that the E39 M5 did. So I sold both of those. The E92 M3 was the question mark - do I need 2 high revving NA cars? Well, kinda yes. The E92 is such a great car on the street, and I love it with Ohlins R/T. Other than gas costs, it makes a wonderful summer daily and makes you feel good. The E92 M3 was my first M car and I've owned it for nearly 7 years now - I find the emotion the car evokes even beyond sentimental value is too good. I cannot sell my E92 M3. It is a keeper and truly special engine. You have to just trust Matt on this one as to why he keeps coming back to the E92. It's just such an enjoyable car to drive for everything it is (and isn't). I think if you're a euro car enthusiast at all, then an E9x M3 needs to be a bucket list car - whether or not you keep it is irrelevant. You should own one at some point and experience it.
50k for an extra 30whp. Definitely not worth it even if your pockets are as deep as his. Also the reliability is a joke compared to a regular S65. Bmw got this engine perfect. No reason to change it
@willjames618 except the stroker sounds worse and doesnt rev as high. The smaller a high revving engine, the better it sounds. That's why F1 engines used to sound so good.
Great video! I have some mods I would highly recommend to get the best out of the E9X M3! (if you haven't done so already) - Change subframe bushes to solid (E92 M3 GTS and newer generations use solid) as they have better handling and respond on the rear. This doesn't increase NVH and won't add any whining. (For the mileage diff bushing won't need replacing) - E9X M3 still has some rubber bushings on the rear. I would get these changed out to uniballs. - Another popular mod is change the FCAB (front control arm bushings) this will give better steering feedback through the steering wheel.
Four door (E90) with a harrop would be a fun project. I’ve driven cars with both ESS G1 & Harrop and I much prefer the power delivery of the Harrop. Also, 4.10 or 3.91 gears are a must for the E92.
Hey Matt. I was thinking of you when I saw a BMW student driver car with two steering wheels and brakes. You should get one to break thru your wall. When you feel weird the passenger could just take over. Sounds dumb but I think that would help you.
I had a 13 mineral white comp package and I liked it except I made the mistake of getting the dct transmission and didn’t keep it too long. Good looking car and I think had I got one with a manual I may have kept it longer.
I know you’ve mentioned the dinan stroker engine idea in the past; I just find it funny, because when I was considering purchasing an E92 M3, I was really interested in doing that myself, but never actually was able to find the pricing readily available…
You frequently talk about enjoying a true driving experience from more analog cars. Would you ever consider or have you ever thought about picking up a modified Rx7 FD? I currently own one and it is by far the most rewarding driving experience I’ve ever had with a car. Not even close. Matt, even if your not a JDM fan, I would highly consider picking one up. Worst case scenario, you don’t like it (which won’t happen) and you sell it.
Awesome video! While I have you, as soon as you said water spots it reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask. I have severe water spots on my porcelain enamel hood badge, what are my options to remove them?
Slow or not (compared to modern BMWs), none of them can even remotely match S65 engine sound. I cannot afford S65 myself but I have N62 with a tuned exhaust. Long live NA V8.
I’ve been trying to watch old videos and figure out, but why can’t Matt not drive far? Or he always mentions he can’t drive. What is the reasoning for this? Health reasons?
But for what reason though would you pass out behind the wheel Matt? Do you have a medical condition to where this can actually happen? Sorry, i just saw the other comments talking about it and had to ask.
I love the sound of the car. That said, I simply cannot tune in anymore to these videos while you drive this fast through tiny residential neighborhoods, potentially endangering the lives of small kids outside of their homes, innocently playing. The speed limits posted, often 25, and 35 mph are posted for this. You are driving in upwards of 80 to 100 mph on residential streets. With someone like you, who have the means, why are you not testing the speeds of your cars on a track? I know you can flame me for saying these things and your audience will agree with you, but I simply pray you don't kill someone on your sprints. I don't expect an answer, especially a snarky one. Stop friggin driving like this Matt. Jeez.

Along with the wash and talk videos, this drive and talk ticks a really big box for satisfaction.
Thank you.
This needs to be top comment
I'm about ready to start the Wash and Drive series!
As always, appreciate the courtesy rev at the end. Love the sound of the S65, and it is even better with this exhaust set up on it.

This car is GLORY!! Please do a Dinan stroker build! That would be epic! Thanks for taking us on the drive!
Hope you keep this forever.

The stroker upgrade would make this thing perfect. Go for it matty.

@@andrewrossnagel9433 you don’t pay to stroke this engine for extra Hp. Your paying to increase the driver experience

Really the gold standard for BMW engine sounds. So good.
Totally agree with your statement that the brakes and seats are the weakest part of the E92 M3!
The pinnacle of the M division. This and the V10 unbelievable platforms.
That thing sounds insanely good.
I would love to se a dinan stroker build! Your e92 content has always been my favorite and you building more would be a treat to everyone
All you need is a 4.10 diff to perfect it
You guys are convincing me.
Have you do considered 4.10 gears? It’ll definitely make the car feel faster
He has a GT3 coming when he needs faster

Stroked supercharged E92 content, yes please!

Can you do a comparison between your E92 and your others cars. Driving feel and pleasure compared to cars like the RS and others
It sounds really nice!
Sounds awesome Matt, congrats big time man. #OGdialed
Euroconnex offers forged 19x10 and 19x11 359M wheels, but I think it's a wait list item right now.
Matt and his "traffic" 🤣
Ha, ha... True

Probably not. I've found that anything pre 2010 is not for me.
I think "ThatDudeInBlue" made up for your short shifting Matt. That sure is a nice car you have there.
16:05 woahhh matty has a dirty car ;)
Do you prefer driving this car over your GT4 you had?
The GT4 is a better car for sure. If I could only choose this or a GT4, I'd 100% pick the GT4.
Awesome video! While I have you, as soon as you said water spots it reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask. I have severe water spots on my porcelain enamel hood badge, what are my options to remove them?
You probably need to heat it a bit then polish.
@@ObsessedGarage thankyou!!!
What is it about the e92 M3 that he likes so much? I’ve never driven one so I’m curious
Drive one if you can. You'll understand then.
This dude, though #Levels
Matt, do you know any clean e92 M3s for sale?
EAG is the place to find them.
Sounds like a GT350 to me
Worlds apart. I don't think they could be any more different. So much more of a buttery smooth sound to the Beemer.
Gt350 is more raspy and crazy sounding
Matt you're like a middle aged man's ASMR. I cannot not watch.
Slow or not (compared to modern BMWs), none of them can even remotely match S65 engine sound. I cannot afford S65 myself but I have N62 with a tuned exhaust. Long live NA V8.
Did you do the cdv delete on this m3?
I didn't. I don't think this car has one.
I want one so bad but my f30 makes me want an m4
whats better than a e92 m3 ? pair of them :)
Boom!
Will you be doing the rod bearings?
It has 1700 miles
Duh
I probably will never need to do them on this car.
Would you consider doing 292 cams on this?
I don't think I'd go that far, but it could be cool.

Panic attack I believe

Preserve great NA engines while they still exist
The E92 is honestly the worst of all the M3s, its basically just engine note and high rpm sound. Matt's just tuned it to make it sound like a GT350.
No to all of that. It sounds nothing like a GT350.
Lol do you even know bmw m cars?
