    Vidya, i watched both the videos. Could watch only today as I was busy since the last few days. These videos will be very useful to those who wish to study there. You have tkn a grt effort to organize the entire procedure in a way so that it will be very useful to the concerned people. Well explained and presented well too.

    Vidya and Biju... Thanks for sharing the info about the college process here. Wonder if you can talk about the volunteering/community services that students can get involved in. Also looking forward to a video on Ivy colleges and what it takes to get into one (apart from the financial status , of course:)) Thanks so much!

      Thank you Shalini. Nothing different about Ivy leagues .Kid needs to stand out from other kids, that's all. Grade is one of the most important factors, a better grade gives you a better chance along with outstanding extra curricular activities (state champion, national champion, inventor, publisher, community organizer etc.) . Ivy leagues put a lot of emphasis on personal essays as well. Regarding community services, look into local hospitals, old age homes, soup kitchen, political drives, blood donation drives, charities etc.

    Thank you for the video. But can you let me know about how the visa status affect admissions/scholarships.They can't stay in H4 after 21 years. So,when is the best time to change to F1? Is it possible in the middle of the course, like after 2 years. Are they eligible for scholarships when in H4? What are the advantages/disadvantages of being in H4/F1 etc.

    • @WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam
      @WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam  3 роки тому +1

      Our information is little outdated, Vidya was in H4 but got converted to F1 for her MBA , mainly to get student loan and be eligible to work (IPT and OPT), H4 EAD option was not there in early 2000s. I believe you can convert to F1 any time, Also, what I heard is, if you are planning to stay in the US after your studies, and you want to get an H1B visa, I think its easier to convert F1 to H1B Visa .

    Hi, just now saw your video and subscribed. I am from the northern part of kerala. I would like to get a valuable opinion from you. My son got admission to UCSD, Purdue,Wisconsin and Schreyer Honors college in Computer Science Major. He chooses Schreyer honors college where we suggested UCSD. But he is of the opinion that he got honors scholarship and will get individual attention in schreyer and will do graduate studies in any Ivy League or top ranked colleges if he got selection. I really would like to know ur views regarding schreyer honors of pennstate and is it a wise decision to reject University of California Sandiego over schreyer? I am really worried thinking whether he took the right decision or not.

    • @WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam
      @WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam  2 роки тому

      Wow! Congratulations. That's a great list of schools. As you already know, UCSD is the best ranked (and perhaps the most expensive)college out of this list. Having said that, Penn State is a great school too. I think it makes total sense to go to Penn state since he is getting financial scholarship there. Name of the college is only important for the first Job but these days all major companies are recruiting from schools like Penn State (pls find out companies that recruits from Penn). The best thing about CS undergraduate degree is that Masters is not that important to get a good job. So he can wait for Masters and perhaps enroll it through his employer later in his life.

      Without an undergraduate degree I don't think he can study here for Masters (MD), the only thing I can think is that for him to come here and do an undergraduate degree, then take MCAT and apply to Med school. Or he has to complete MBBS from India and come here and go through USMLE (we did a video last week on that subject), Or let him try again and pass the medical degree from China and go through USME process here
