Scavenge and explore the rich, ever-changing free-roam world by day, then hunker down in your hideout and pray for the morning light. - Ігри
Acid Wizard Studio is a rare example of true developers, wich really understands gamers. Thank a lot, guys! Hello from Novosibirsk!
Single moms in Darkwood don't want to remarry, they just want sex. Click here for a blissful and eternal sleep.
xD
Kurt Rozentaun Ay! My Russian comrade!
As someone that doesn't like jump scares, thanks for making this.
For me, it’s always been less of them being scary as immediately disappointing.
They’re cheap.
They have no depth to them.
People complaining about graphics? Watching on their cell phone? I have it full screen on a computer monitor, and believe me , everything is clear and with headphones I can get immersed.
@The Robot yes
i just came across a torrent from you guys with a heartwarming message. You guys won me over. i will be purchasing this game to support you. We need more devs like you in the industry.
i have been eyeballing this game for a while now and didn't even know the devs dropped a torrent for us for that reason alone i will be buying this on steam
@@heathyancey3293 i feel so bad about pirating the game now, ive got no money but i wanna buy it just because they dropped a torrent
@@Sensei_gojo totally worth it no regrets here lol
The developers of this game will have a bright future ahead of them. Not many can create a game with character so rich as Darkwood. Everything, from the detailed environments and tense atmosphere to the iconic characters and creepy sound effects, it's all spot on! Where some horror games are just a roller coaster ride of jump scares and shocking imagery tied together by some vague ass story, Darkwood is actually a world full of mystery to be explored.
It's absolutely awesome that you guys finally got the game released! Well worth the wait! One of the best horror games I have ever played with one of the best atmospheres of any game I've played, and I'm totally looking forward to any DLC and any sequels! Keep up the good work Acid Wizard!
does the game have screamers? or things popping in ur face?
haha i actually want to avoid the jumpscares.. thanks for the info
McFozan Silent Hill and Resident Evil aren't that jump-scarey, either. I recommend trying out both of those series, too.
McFozan I read an article about this game. Apparently it was developed with the intention of excluding jump scares. At least that’s what I’ve read.
Erik Hoff this is correct.
This game captures the subtle feeling of "Something is wrong, but I'm not sure what it is."
Walking a surreal path between known and unknown, blurring the line separating them.
Made by 3 people (and a dog apparently). This is really well done.Congrats on the release guys.
Yeah it really does show us that these AAA companies with TONS of employees have really just been cash grabbing by releasing mediocre games every year.
The dog insisted that wolfman be added into the game so he could relate
Szurek. The dogs name was Szurek.
Years later and this game still sticks out in my memory as one of the creepiest games ever made. The "true" ending was probably the craziest of any game I've ever played too. Sometimes little indie games leave an impression long after you're done with them. It doesn't take a triple A budget.
Wooooo! Being a Backer was the best thing i ever did, being a Wiki editor was the best thing i ever did! Congratulations!!!
big thanks Crowborn!
Kickstarter?
My greatest respect to the devs for their dedication and hard work, not to forget customer-friendliness. This is probably the first time I've seen a dev release their own game as a torrent on pirate bay.
It's the second or third time I've seen it, but it's nonetheless quite admirable. It also eliminates the possibility of downloading a pirated version that's been injected with malware. The main purported function is also for those who can't afford to buy it.
I downloaded Darkwood off _tpb_ first to try it out, and I did indeed buy it on Steam soon after as well, because developers this great need to be supported and kept alive.
My first would be Hotline Miami.
They did that? jesus christ, i thank them so much. i am cursed to pirate games because i cant afford them. i hope one day i get to support the dev with my money, you know what they say, help the beggar so one day, he will help you when he is rich.
@@StoicNatsoc If you can't afford this game then it's not about a lack of money. It's about being irresponsible with money.
You'll always be a beggar.
@@tinkywinky4449 Jesus bro, that was 4 years ago. FOUR YEARS. besides, i am not an american, i am serbian, my salary is abysmal. by the time i pay for the life expenditures, i have nothing. imagine thinking we are all part of america, and must have money to spend on luxurious items like it was nothing.
A legendary horror games that is genuinely scary bc of its environment and amazing sound design. I hope it’s not forgotten.
Easily one of the most unique and terrifying horror experiences to date. Who knew such a small indie team would leave such a huge mark on the horror genre. This game really brought my expectations up for any future horror titles I play. 10/10 one of my all time favorites.
Played it. Almost died of a heart attack. Love it so far.
loveless rayy no jump-scares but the sounds already making you panic. Only when I panicked was the underground entrance when I had someone chasing me, others didn’t scared me that much.
No jump scares, I'm sold!
It's one go the best games I EVER played! I have no words to describe how beautiful it is. The little village is something, I felt so lost inside and desperate every time walking there
As a fan of games like Amnesia (Dark Descent and Machine for Pigs), Outlast, Outlast 2, and SOMA, I didn't think there was any way in hell I'd be frightened by a 2D top-down game like this... I was wrong. What I love is that the game doesn't rely on many jump scares to send you screaming and jumping into the air. It's less feelings of fear and more feelings of dread: long drawn-out anxiety and sheer creepiness. With sprinkled jump scares as well. LOVE it.
"You look tired, Meat. Busy night?".....THE best horror game experience I've had so far. The music, the sounds (!!!), the atmosphere, the graphic visualisation....all of it was perfectly made. I thank Acid Wizard Studios for this masterpiece! (*Spoilers*: the ending broke my heart though...I've got the bliss one, which I immediately knew had to be false and yet I wanted it to be true so much!)
"Graphics are bad. 0 immersion." Play the 2nd night in a dark room with headphones or the vol up, and you tell me if theres no immersion, I got pretty terrorized.
Easily one of the best games I have ever played.
Wonderful work!
Currently hoping for new products from you, people.
My best wishes for you in your careers!
Oh wow, very cool and unique. Gonna give it a go!
sound design is fucking insane
Words cannot describe how much i love this game, i just beat it and... my god it was amazing. Best horror game ive ever played.
This was mesmerizing. Great game, I love how there's not jumpscares but horror is created with atmosphere. Goes to my top 5 favorites.
I cannot stress how good of a game you guys have made. The best thing of all though is that you stuck through the years making the game and not leaving it like other devs would with their creations. Future developers should take inspiration from you guys. Thanks for it all.
This game deserved and still deserves more love and attention than it gets. You guys really hit this out of the park. I listened to an interview with 2 out of 3 of you guys, and it was fascinating to hear how much the game morphed, and the thought processes that led to the morphing. I can’t even imagine what you guys could produce with more money, the right staff, and the freedom/drive to keep building such an awesome project. However, I’m just asking for the sun and the moon when it comes to those sentiments. What you delivered is so impressive and well built that I’m just being selfish to want more. I hope the game continues to gain popularity and grow a cult following of sorts. It’d be amazing to get some more DLC someday...or maybe even some type of sequel. The IP is really something special. Thank you so much!
Lightning system is impressive!
Bought this game a long time ago but never really got around to seriously playing it, Still looks fantastic though glad too see it's getting an actual release
Same here. I must have had it in my steam library for a couple years now.
So it's finally out? Hadn't heard of the game for a while so figured it was just an another early access scam but saw a couple of articles about how you guys not only managed to complete it but uploaded the whole game to Piratebay too for poor people and toddlers who can't get their moms to buy it for them. That's a beautiful attitude for game developers to have. Just bought the game and think I'll get a couple of copies for my friends too!
Edit: Why are the comments full of 12-year olds who have never seen an isometric game before? Did one of the let's players try it out or what?
I have played this game and it is easily one of the most atmospheric games I have ever played. Had a blast playing through it. Good job acid wizard studio :)
Bought it for pc and PS4 to support you guys. I found so many things from my childhood in this game. Hello from Moscow.
Congratulations on the release. This would be great to play!
Got it on release knowing nothing other than I liked the artwork. Amazing game, eerie atmosphere, no cheap jump scares, and is well worth the price. The soundtrack is also brilliant, making you get the feeling of dread or a light piano to ease your shaken mind. Just beautiful
Yeah, I loved being a backer to this game too. I love your work, and your respect for the backers
damn, guys. i've been following this game since it's initial early access release and after finishing the first chapter back then, i can't wait to finally finish the game. probably the most genuinely scared i've felt in a long time.
Seriously, what kind of shit were you guys on? This is a god damn masterpiece of atmosphere. I can't get enough but I would probably have an actual heart attack if I played for too long. Good job!
Congrats, guys. I've had my eye on this for a while. Good to see its ready now.
IM sooo happy!!!
I'm so proud of you! I'm very glad that one day I found your game and waited !! This is one of the best games in my life! But I played a lot of games, but I did not see such a presentation and plot! Thank you for playing!
So proud of having backed that game way in the past! Congrats guys for the final release!
Sound design is so good holy shit
I love the sound design and atmosphere. The gameplay looks fun too. I was fully immersed in the trailer. Great work! I hope this game really takes off.
I know I'm late, but here's my two cents for the people who have complains or concerns about the graphics: your main character will always be at the center-ish part of the screen, unless you drag your mouse to the edge which will extend your view and moving the camera away from your character. You'll have a pretty good understanding of where your character is and what he's doing at all times.
For the enemies, they are sometimes indeed hard to see especially when they are at the farther part of your vision; either a little bit blurry or getting obscured by shadows or other objects. But I think this is intentional since this is where the sound design comes into play. You may not see them right away, but you can definitely hear them, and soon you'll learn which creatures make which sound. The sprites get clearer the closer you get. Hearing a creature when you can't see it at all plays a big part in the tension this game gives you.
Combining these visual and sound elements really makes the horror atmosphere, despite being top-down. Worth at least a try.
I'VE...BEEN...WAITING...FOR THIS!
This looks really neat. Kinda surprised to be seeing graphics complaints of all things. It's possible to do pixel art badly or cheaply, but here it seemed to fit the aesthetic, especially since I feel like horror games work better when details are vague or hard to make out.
I liked the atmosphere from the first two seconds... Wow!
Nice! I like the way you reacted to what was going on with the character model, that was a really nice touch :)
I just got this on the Switch. Never heard of it prior, but I have to say, this is easily one of my favorite horror games that I've ever played, and it's definitely my favorite survival-oriented horror by far. It's amazingly atmospheric. Cannot praise it enough, I am now a fan of your studio.
Been onboard with the Wizards since the beginning, it's like watching a child grow up. Love you guys and what you do.
What you guys have done has in my opinion anyway never been done before. Its so cool you guys went public with your game and also helping out those who are broke. You've actually expanded your player base and I will support this game if i like it, like I have done so in the past with games ive loved playing. Thanks AcidWizardStudio
After watch this trailer I spent a lot of time waiting to buy it. Now finally I give his time after waiting a lot in my library and is amazing.
still exploring this game . hope to see more from this true digital artists
This looks amazing!! Congratulations on the release.
I am too scared to play it only after the trailer. Cool effects. Well done. And the sound!
Oh this game truly fucks with you. Sound design is so good.
Just came here to say thank you! I really dig the fact you guys treat gaming like an art form and somehow manage to translate that into a very very enjoyable 'gaming experience'.
First time i felt bad about torrenting a game, thanks for explaining your pov on key reselling. You should start thinking about an option for us to donate directly to you for the torrent... Love from Holland.
Looks amazing! I'll definitely be playing this soon!
Its finaly done. Thank you SO MUCH, Wizards!
Soo excited to play this later!
I had years to play a game like this 10/10. Also 11/10 to the music
It has changed so much since the first time I played this game. I can't wait to see what comes next!
Its moments like that when I truly and unapologetically get pumped about being polish x)))
Looks fantastic. Congrats and good luck with those sales.
This game truly gives you a feeling and sense of horror and dread. No other game develpoers have ever created a game that has what darkwood has. The art, story and gameplay mechanics are spot on. It's really hard for me to explain how truly amazing this game is. It's the best example of a survival horror game. It seems as though the devs took my dreams and nightmares and put them into a game.
I love that you guys put up the torrent of the game for free. I played about an hour of it and am now off to steam to buy it. Great game guys!
You did something that is unreal! This game is so unique!!
Been over a year, this is my favirote horror game out thier, theres nothing like it and i just love it and when poeple talk about underrated classics this is one i gotta bring up
This is exactly what the game industry needs. Among other games like Inside, The Long Dark and many more. Bringing the mystery and emotional focus back to gaming. The times of "your quest is to find a wrench follow the green waypoints to the wrench - action encounter - go back and fix the thing - action encounter - " are over.
the fact that you threw it onto TPB made me buy it on steam even though i know i might not find time to play it.
was about to ask this game from a friend of mine who had a copy of this game. decides to buy it recently in steam to support the studio
i didnt know about this game untill i heard about the free one you guys put out, im not going to take the free one i would rather buy it but man this game has a ton of creepy charm
wonderful game, just perfect, just wish it was much much longer. i hope you guys make a sequel of some sort.
I'm not a big fan of top down games, but I am a big fan of horror games. The fact that I can try this out before buying it is a more than generous gift of pleasure. I really hope I enjoy this because I love to support indie developers. Thanks for letting us test out the game prior to purchase (maybe consider putting out a demo version in future like the 90's/early 2000's common drill to assure you don't get pushed off the market by the pure "gibs me dat" crowds).
Oh my....this looks...AMAZING!
I was watching this game for a couple of years and FINALLY we get it soon :D
Support Them! Buy The Game!
Very well done guys. Great job!
Damn this game is soooo nice. never though a 2D game would be so scary.
This is how you do a fucking trailer!
Kudos
Just got this on sale for $9 on SWITCH. So far, so good. Definitely interesting. Played it for a few hours. A lot of stuff still doesn’t make since but, I’m sure it’ll all come together.
FINNALY omg I have played this game since early alpha and omg I can't believe it now here YES
I was thinking the top down perspective seemed a little questionable for a horror game but once he started talking to the...npc, I understood. This game looks fantastic, I rarely feel uncomfortable from just watching a horror game and this trailer did it for me.
Wolfman has a pretty good charter design.
Really great work guys... I... just... love this game. It's different from others... It's really atmospheric and spooky. One of the best game in my collection. It was really nice to play your game. Hope u will make continue...
So tempting to play the game again. So terrifying.
An amazing game even its pixelated, it got tons of story in it and understanding how pretty much apocalypse would look like. Thank you for this game, good thing I bought it with a discount! Hello from Artem, Primorski Krai (Russian Federation)
Can the rain sound be adjusted without compromising the other sound effects? I don't mind listening to rain, but I don't want to have it be the dominating sound every time I play.
No jump scares hell yes!
Kawał dobrej roboty i świetna gra :) Dzięki waszej akcji pobrałem ją z TPB. A teraz kupie ją na Steam bo warto.
Nice. I am buying it right now.
Amazing storytelling. Doesn't baby you. Quite immersive for a top-down game.
"You're invited to the party!"
I really liked the game. It is very atmospheric and interesting. I want to express gratitude to you for placing it on the torrent for those people who do not have money to buy. I, as a person who usually downloads pirated versions due to lack of money for games, bravely declare, I will buy your game! Thank you and greetings from Ukraine!
Some feedback: Although I didn't play the game, from the trailer I noticed that because of so much details on the floor some things are hard to see. For example I did not even notice the Wolf in the beginning nor the dead pig in the fields.
Other than that the game looks great, especially because I'm interested in horror games for story, but can't stand jumpscares, so I feel like this game is perfect for me! The atmosphere you made with shadows and sounds is amazing! It may seem like a small detail, but I love the part at 3:17 where the music sounds creepy, but after turning it off silence "sounds" much creepier.
you must be colorblind if you didnt see the pig
Okay
Just try playing the game. It's not an issue I've encountered. It's free to try on thepiratebay, uploaded by TheAcidWizard (the developer), and if you genuinely quite like it, be sure to support the developer when able.
Guys this looks absolutely amazing, I really want to play it! Any chance of it coming to switch, i can only imagine it’d be great playing this in handheld mode, headphones on, lights off and huddled under my bedsheets!!
Hey guys, I've been playing this game for a long time. I'm 29 hours into it. I've only just got to Chapter 2 the other day. I get creeped out every time I play. Great game!
great work acid wizard!!! thumps up!!
Fun atmospheric survival horror game. Love it addicted can't stop playing!
looks fantastic!!! hyped!
I really wish they make a sequel. I love games like this. Legit had to mute background music because I was pooping my pants.
For those who are complaining about graphics and being old school? Have you played undertail?
QuickBeat yes, and Undertale is beautifully executed. The graphics here are TINY, seriously, I would have to press my face against the screen to see what I'm even doing. They couldn't have made your character larger or something? I'm sure it's all beautifully made but you can't even see it because it's all so tiny on a screen. That's my issue with it.
jesslovesrammstein are you watching this on ur phone or something? When playing it everything is clear
Morgan Freeman I watched on a reasonably large computer screen. The character is tiny. Apparently there was a dog on the screen at some point and I could barely tell the dog from anything else in the background.
"Undertail" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
never heard about it... googling now that you asked about it..
