@@sebastiaanm9122 Unfortunately, previous rules led to The UK, Ireland, and Malta always being in top 5 or close by, because everyone could understand them. Beautiful, should have won back then. Estonia is the best eurovision country and it has my favorite language, please sing in it more often. love from Poland
I felt she should have won in '96 , I prefer that song to Eimear Quinn - but this year the competition was too fierce , I reckon she'd have been good for 4 points this year in my ranking (7th)
Such a lovely song, beautifully performed. Check up the translation to the lyrics as well, it will give you a deeper experience when listening to the song!

It is the Eurovisioon Song Contest! These songs are well orchestrated and performed! The past 20 years it's all about light show, wind machines, dodgy fashion .... and all that hair! Most of the songs are so similar and easily forgettable!
@@robertlower6212 that's an accurate description of modern Eurovision. I call it the " Eurovision striptease competition". The more ass hangs out the better the song does.
Understandable. Actually I think it's because both Estonian and Italian have long vowels, and melodically this sounds more pleasant, because it seems the language follows the music better.
Hyvä sävel, hyvä laulaja. Ilmeisesti laulu kertoo kyllästymisestä mieheen nimeltä Mikso (liekö Mikso nukahtanut kesken aktin), koskapa kohdassa 1:45 - 1:58 neitonen laulaa ihan suomeksi pehmeällä ja kauniilla äänellään: "Voin kylmää kyrvälle heittää. Ei tunne Mikso. Ei kuule, ei näe."

In my opinion by far the best entry. Very mature performance and in no way can I tell that she is only 16 and 1/2 years old here.
The youngest artist that night, only 16, and one of the best performances that year. She was brilliant looking and singing on stage.
Jorge Juan Rodríguez Ortega so she was only 15 the year before? (With the song Kaelake hääl) Started early ...
@@andreasforsberg570 Yes, she was.
Hold up? So the year before she was 15. Wasn't that forbidden? Or was the age limit increased after?

These types of songs are the essence of Eurovision, every year we continue to have a some song like this and I hope we never miss them!
Pure heart ♥️
Beautiful girl, voice and song. One of Estonia's best.
I loved when each country sang in their own language. And I remember this song giving me goose bumps. In fact Italy gave 12 points ;)
I totally agree. Much too much english nowadays :((( I really hope we will go back to teh previous rules
I remember thinking "it sounds like Laura Pausini" when I watched the show. No surprise you gave her 12 points
Yes: some other countries also gave her high marks. The United Kingdom gave her 10 points, and Denmark, France and Ireland gave her 8 points.

@sebastiaanm9122 I agree. The EBU needs to revert back to the old rules and return the Eurovision to its roots to make it more interesting again.
Simply beautiful: song and singer

Another wonderful entry from Estonia. I hope we hear the beautiful Estonian language in Eurovision again. Hästi tehtud, Eesti! 🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪
This song is proof that Estonian language is magical 😍

One of my all time favourite Eurovision-songs. Just beautiful.
Goosebumps!
Oh she's so beautiful...
Fantastic eurovision year it was! This entry is in my top5 along with The Uk, Italy, Denmark and France

I love that song. Amazing.
The best song in Eurovision 1997. The more I listen to it the more I like it. Estonia should have won that year.
It was a VERY strong year, but I think the right song won.
Uk and Turkey's entries was great, but this has something special that makes me placing this 1st.
1997 was such a strong year that had so many winning candidates. I'd like to see Turkey, Italy, Estonia, Spain, Poland, Greece, Cyprus winning, too. 😍
Top ten maybe but neither song or performance was a winner. It doesn't really.go anywhere
Masterpiece

I couldn't agree more Hanka Lu :-)
That and Urban Symphony - Rändajad.
In the 1997 rewatch on twitter I gave this 8 points, a truly underrated entry
i gave this my 12... love it
Lovely song and a wonderful voice. This would have done so much better in a lower quality year. 1997 really was a great year.
Gorgeous 💞 just a beautiful song & i preferred this one better than the winner...& i'm from UK 🇬🇧 wasn't a fan of Love shine a light 😒
I hope that I’m not the only one who thinks that song should have won

UK, Italy and Estonia, the best songs of this year.
Good on the United Kingdom for giving this 10 points and Italy for giving this 12.

I wouldn't call 8th in a field of 25 nowhere, especially given this was a very, very strong year. So strong I struggle to put together a top 25!
