I worked there for many years and I came into contact with a woman who at that time we didn’t know that we were related as her and her family managed to get out of East Germany and only after the wall came down we were told by other German family members who still lived in what was East Germany where these relations were. I visited them in 1990 and she answered the door. We were both flabbergasted to say the least. Her name is Anja and she had told me that she had relations who lived in England but we had no reason to suspect that I was one of them. My Mother was born in Germany and she had sisters and brothers and cousins and so on. I’ve had lots of beautiful holidays in Munich and Bavaria.
