quite simply GOD & without doubt the best & most consistent singer / songwriter of the last 40 years, I saw him the first time with The Jam when I was a 15 year old kid at Sheffield University in 1977 ( he walked past me in a parka in the queue outside ) & he's been with me ever since then, I must have seen him 30 or 40 times live, even in the early days of him going single, I remember seeing him with about 60 or 70 people at a small venue in Nottingham, quite sad really, the Paul Weller Movement I think it was called & he was finding his musical feet again. I still listen to something by him almost every day.

Was just saying this to my Dad tonight about his creative/writing prowess. I watched this gig on sky arts last night and was wowed yet again. . Said to my old man Weller still continues to have ability to write absolute gems. There aren't many artists who can do that. Others have a golden period then fade away. Weller always produces...I hadn't heard a lot of the newer content. What a show this..got emotional at a few points of it. I loved particularly Gravity, Books, Aspects, May Love Travel With You. Thought the arrangement on You Do Something To Me was excellent too.
I really got into him from Stanley Road via a friend who introduced me to it. He's a deffo a musical national treasure.

I saw The Jam at Stafford bingley hall in 1977 .followed them all over u.k .Paul's a legend no one like him .his music will live on forever.

The Modfather allows me to time travel back to 1993 (when life was a wee bit more innocent). This is a brilliant retrospective and a lovely refreshed approach to his 2nd solo release. I swear his voice sounds so bloody close to his original effort that it is rather stunning, given that I have noticed his voice has deepened and frayed a little around the edges over the last 10-years live and in studio probably due to the beer and fags, however as a musician close to his age time does take a toll on your vocal instrument. Given all that, he sounds bloody amazing here and I cannot wait to procure the DVD and such to add to my considerable Paul Weller collection. I love him, man.
