When you say no special moves, are items off the table? I think you could get away with a pretty standard build (best weapons for each character, best shop armor if you're underleveled and worried about it, work pants otherwise, lazy shell on one member). Good accessories would be Quartz Charm, Jinx Belt, Safety Ring (all 3 prevent Smithy's OHKO move). Beyond that, bring some rock candies (mushroom boy hell) and ice bombs (moleville menuing hell). Rock candy will do 300 damage with an attack boost, and Smithy's most attack-resistant formation is weak to ice bombs (420 damage with boost). Stock up on a few Crystallines and Power Blasts from Tadpole Pond so that you can keep your teams stats all the way up and reapply them after Shredder. For your actual teammates themselves, it's really up to you who you bring. I think any trio could work in theory, but Bowser will probably give you the best time.
Almost every time you jump on chewy's head before it's watered in bean valley, you will only have 2 chewies to battle instead of 5 enemies. Pidge did it mostly here.

Super Mario RPG was developed by Square with input from the Mario team rather than by Nintendo. Square had a falling out with Nintendo during the shift from SNES to N64 and ceased developing anything for their systems. Since Square owned the rights to a bunch of the stuff in the games and did most of the actual work, this torpedoed any chance of a sequel (this is also who there's very few direct references to SMRPG in other Mario games - they need Square's permission to use them and that hasn't always been easy to get). @@ONShypnos Name would have been changed as soon as the product was set to go public, they could have called it anything else they wanted during development so long as they didn't publicize it.
Largely because SMRPG was a collaboration between Nintendo and Square. Shortly after SMRPG's release, Square was kinda pissed that Nintendo's new system would used cartridges, so they made the decision to develop their superlative title FF7 for the Playstation instead, effectively severing ties with Nintendo.

@@jsrodman by all means, I'm not trying to shit on the crew (though from my understanding it's a professional audio production company that donates their time to the cause). They do so much work every year and shout out to them all
Category requirements are to only deplete chests and obtain items from non-chest which can only be obtained once. The flowers and remaining items don't satisfy those conditions, and it's slower to get them, so I didn't take them.
From what I understand certain bosses are skipped so you can get all the unique items in the game. Also you don't get every last chest because some of them refill themselves so the point is moot. It's more apt to call it unique item%
This game is technically impossible to do literally everything, as at some points you have a choice between two options and can't do both (for example, you can't fight Booster and get the Amulet Coin, as one results from winning the minigame and the other from losing)
@@WillyTung yeah. This isn't the first time I've watched this, and I still don't know what's not in it. From some other comments, apparently an optional boss that doesn't have unique equipment or something like that...
The amulet which is a unique item and the booster boss fight are mutually exclusive. You can't get both. That's the main "breaking of the rules" I would say
Anyone know the purpose of having the timing work like this? I get that you need to wait for the star at the end for verification, but why time from console on instead of from filename select, like most games?
Not sure about this one specifically, but many RPGs and Japanese-centric runs time from console on to end of credits. DQ3 on super famicom is a great example.
Ah, and if they are comparing directly to Japanese players, which would make sense since they are using the Japanese version, it would make sense to use their timing method. That's a good bit of insight, whether it turns out to be accurate in this case or not. Thanks!
JRTA sort of agreed on a universal timing of Power On > End Credits, because a universal standard made it easy to switch from game to game without argument back when there were no community discords and whatnot. Many games/communities abandoned this over time (Paper Mario used to but now it ends time just after last input on a visual cue for instance), SMRPG has just held onto it for traditions sake.

Amazing
one of my buddies in high school gave me this game and Killer Instinct for SNES and said i could just keep them....then like a week later he was hit by a semi truck and died....weird
Wtf is he okay??
@@じょせふ-v2z no he died instantly
Cool story
Correlation does not necessitate causation. I bet he was wearing clothes, ate a meal that day, and was breathing, yet you’re not trying to attribute any of those events to it
@@camwyn256 no shit dumbass
Ngl, there are several times I mistakenly hear "Bitch" instead of "Pidge"
I just really wish they could get the audio situated before the run starts :/
Whats wrong with the audio?
Its really quiet
Her mic is all sorts of not adjusted for the other voices and clapping and such. Plus her couch is a louder volume. It's just hard to hear
Audio engineering is a real discipline that most people discount, so they assume they can wing it and they get poor results. It's a volunteer event, so it's not shocking. I agree the poor levels make it harder to appreciate.
@@jsrodman by all means, I'm not trying to shit on the crew (though from my understanding it's a professional audio production company that donates their time to the cause). They do so much work every year and shout out to them all
Why didn't you get the other things at 2:15:10?(items and flowers)
Category requirements are to only deplete chests and obtain items from non-chest which can only be obtained once. The flowers and remaining items don't satisfy those conditions, and it's slower to get them, so I didn't take them.
@@pidgezero_one Oh. I didn't know that they were able to be gotten more than once. Cool.
Lol going to sleep to this
wish the guy reading out donations could just take his time reading out the words in the donos...
They often can't because he has to keep donations short to get to the next dono or so the runner can focus
Limit Break > GDQ
Why is it called most of the stuff? What exactly is skipped?
From what I understand certain bosses are skipped so you can get all the unique items in the game. Also you don't get every last chest because some of them refill themselves so the point is moot. It's more apt to call it unique item%
This game is technically impossible to do literally everything, as at some points you have a choice between two options and can't do both (for example, you can't fight Booster and get the Amulet Coin, as one results from winning the minigame and the other from losing)
@@ianlawvoiceover1056along with not maxing out levels
I see DaveSterio!
What ISN'T done in "Most of the Stuff"?
Maxing out levels and… well I think that’s about it
@@camwyn256 That pretty much sounds like 100%. I don't think any RPG 100%'s include maxing out levels unless tied to acquiring other things.
