The explosion at the gunpowder works was in 1916, during the First World War. There is a memorial grave site in the cemetery in Faversham where the majority of the victims were laid to rest.
Thank you 😄 To reach Conyer we drove and parked on the street, but you can also get a taxi there. You can also walk from Teynham train station, but this will add just over a mile to your walk. Conyer to Oare walk was 6.3 miles
