i will never understand why they stopped showing the in-studio reactions to the recordings. seeing them laugh at eachother/themselves along with the task makes it so much better
I think the producers explained it was because they think it flows better with just the recordings playing, plus it allows them to fix things in the studio in the meantime if something isn't quite right. Completely agree though, shame they stopped doing it after series 7
I only watch the UK and the Swedish versions, and I think they still do it in the Swedish version, and great lord is it nice to see them laugh at each other
I imagine it would be a pain to edit in reactions to a video you’ve already edited as well as you can. Still. It IS better with the in studio added in.

There is a very popular song “papa don’t preach” by madonna which generally talks about how she doesn’t need someone else to tell her what to do( preach what she should do). Rosh was being preachy about how unfair it is to breach the pie, she said the phrase “papa don’t breach” when she was called out on the same.
Im not sure that this show would have made it if it hadnt been this set of comics. The chemistry they had with each other and Greg and Alex was perfect. But also, Josh getting Greg tatooed on his foot I think may have been the absolute deal sealer
The best part of Josh's wheelbarrow mug in the Toss the Teabag Task was that he was penalized, not for stretching the definition of a mug to the absolute limit, but for making tea milk first.
Amazing series to kick it off. All the cheating and arguing over points and places never really reached this height ever again. It's less of a 'fun experience' here and more of an actual adversarial competition, it's hilarious.

I absolutely loved Sean Lock vs Jon Richardson and would have loved to see Sean on Taskmaster! He would have destroyed the competition!

Bring this intensity back on Season 19. I doubt 18 will be anything more than Dee grumbling, Rosie being loud and Babatunde trying to look cool with the punmaster stealing the show.

The problem I have with Tim on rewatch is that instead of going along with the challenges and banter from the other contestants, he tends to shut them down with 'shut up' or similar. Not as fun.
Roisin was great but I'm so happy the female contestants going forward were far more down for the bit and throwing themselves into tasks (much love to her though, I know in context even coming in this show was a huge unknown)
In the first episode of the latest series, Greg made a throw-away comment about trying to be more nice. My concern is that UK Taskmaster may now start pandering to international audiences who don't quite grasp the nuances of British sarcasm and irreverence, as seen here in these make-pretend spats. You only have to look at UA-cam comments to see how upset people were getting when Greg laid into the contestants, forgetting that this is a great British comedy where this kind of behaviour is expected. I hope I'm wrong. There's always viewer adjustment to a new series of new contestants, so I'm praying that the latest series will witness more classic anarchic behaviour, like we see in this clip, with Greg continuing to passify them with his withering put-downs. I'm pinning my hopes on Sophie to provide some more bonkers, off-the-wall moments 😁

Season 1 was stacked.
These early seasons were much funnier than recent ones. There was better chemistry, better comics and better group arguing.
