Our last pickup we bought used. It had only 20K miles and we needed a pickup for work around our property.
It was a 11 Ranger XLT super cab 4WD.
It was Silver. (We Hate silver, grey, charcoal grey and black), so I had it 2 toned in Red metallic. I also had it reupholstered in Red with black trim.
I added custom wheels, running boards, a FlowMaster exhaust system, etc.
It was 13 years old when I sold it for my 23 TRD. It had only 36K miles on it.
A man bought it for his 19 year old son.
If he takes care of it, it should last him for many years and miles.
I LOVE my 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs.
It’s basically a Limited with the TRD Off Road pkg.
I purposefully bought a 23 because I heard that the 24 was going to drop the proven reliable and durable 3.5L Naturally Aspirated (NA) V6.
Historically a Turbo engine simply doesn’t last as long as a NA engine.
We keep our vehicles for 15-20 years or 250K to 300K miles.
I drive 6-8K miles per year and at my age, I’m quite sure I’ll be driving my 23 TRD until I die and then my wife will still be using it to plow our road and driveway to clear it from the 5-7 feet of snow we get every winter.
The 3rd generation Tacoma is known for the transmission “hunting” for the right gear.
I had an Overland Torque Tune installed and it causes the torque to kick in at 2500RPM, instead of the factory 3,700 RPM. The transmission is smooth as silk. When driving up a slight hill my Tacoma use to downshift from 6th, into 5th and almost immediately into 4th. It now downshifts into 5th and stays in that gear. As soon as it can, it upshifts into 6th gear, whereas it use to stay in 4th gear for longer periods of time.
The OTT also adds 25 more horsepower and 25 more LB FT of torque.
It also increased your fuel efficiency by 1-2 mpg.
I also added a cold air intake, which gave my Tacoma addition horsepower. My truck is now pumping out 318 horsepower and 295 LB FT Torque.
My Tacoma is equipped with the TRD Performance exhaust system from factory, but as soon as I can I’ll be installing a FlowMaster FlowFX dual exhaust.
The OTT Doesn’t void the factory warranty.
The sound that comes from my cold air intake is AMAZING. It sounds like I have a V8 under the hood.
Since adding the cold air intake and the OTT, my TRD is super fast.
A friend of mine has a 19 TRD like mine but with a 5’ bed. We raced our trucks after I added the mods and I blew his doors off.
He is now going to install a cold air intake and an OTT.
I HATE my Black Leather interior so I reached out to Katzkin and they made me Barcelona Red Leather seat covers. After they removed my factory black leather and added my Red Leather seat covers, they removed the grey cloth seat covers from another friend of mine’s 23 TRD and installed my Black Leather seat covers in his truck.
My truck is White so I had it 2 toned in Barcelona Red metallic following the body lines of my truck.
The chrome exterior badging I bought RED overlays instead of the black overlays like everyone else.
I also added Lava Red trim pieces to cover up the chrome trim.
My wife will be giving me power running boards for my Tacoma as my Christmas gift, so I’ll be selling my factory running boards.
For my birthday next year Ive already chosen Bronze wheels and I’ll be keeping my factory wheels so that I can put Studded snow / winter tires on my truck as we get a lot of snow and ice in our area.
I’m simply wanting my truck to be a 1 of a kind just like my last pickup.
Also forgot to say well done on the video. One of the better ones I have seen.
I’m lost in them baby blues ! 😊
Awesome job showing this truck! I just ordered the TRD Off Road Premium with the 6 ft bed and hood scoop, lunar rock. Hopefully get it next month! So excited😃👍🏼
Thank you!! And congrats ahead of time on your new ride, Lunar Rock is my favourite colour 😎
Mesmerizing, Liz. The Tacoma as well! I'm subscribed. Thanks...
I’m picking up this exact truck 6 speed manual with roof rack next week
Ooo nice! Congrats in advance 😁 Where are you getting your Tacoma from? Manual makes it even more fun!
I love the color and you explained it so well. I've been looking for a truck and you got me sold ❤😊🎉
So happy to hear my video helped with your decision! I love this colour too, grows on me more and more every time I see it!
I have one coming I reserved. Nice review!
You must be super excited! Great choice 😎 thanks for watching!
Is the 2023 TRD Offroad Premium available in an Xtracab configuration with a 6' bed? After researching the 2024 models, my preference is to buy the 3rd gen 2023 Tacoma. I appreciate the thorough review of the truck.
Like the write up you did in the description. Not sure if I've noticed those in prior videos. That's cool how this one has a block heater, great idea. Also the blacked out badges.
Thanks! Yeah I’ve been here over 4 years and I think I’ve only seen 3 block heaters installed haha - for folks who are travelling somewhere cold in the winter I suppose🥶 I think any Tacoma looks good in blackout badges 😎
@@tracksandtrees Forgot to mention how nice there's no plug dangling out of the bumper for the block heater. The way the plug is integrated into the bumper is top notch. I wouldn't want it any other way after seeing that one.
@@mfanning186 good point! I haven’t seen many so I guess we are a little spoiled with our fancy ones haha
Not in your province but now you got me thinking of going to a Tacoma from my RAV 4. Any idea how much taller the Tacoma is? Have an older mother that may struggle to get in when I take her shopping.
just picked up my 2023 trd off road this am and i cant believe the truck doesnt come with floor mats! unreal!
Oh no, really! We include them here… I suppose it’s up to the dealership if they include them or not but I’d say it should be standard! I hope you enjoy your new Tacoma! They are the best😎
@@tracksandtrees love it so far after one day..lol
@@termite122 that’s a good start! Lol, I’m sure you’ll have lots of great adventures in it 🌲 they are so much fun
@@tracksandtrees Are floor mats not part of the invoice for the Tacoma? Seems suspicious. I realize your dealership includes them, so this comment isn't directed at you or your dealership, but toward others who are not. If others are removing floor mats and then charging for them as an add on, it's like telling the customer the oil in the engine is extra. Yeah, that spare key, that's extra too. Want windshield wiper blades... you guessed it... extra! Oh, you wanted tires with your truck? You don't say? Since we like you as a customer, we'll hook you up, but it'll be extra! And you're in luck because today only, we have a special where if you buy coolant for your vehicle which you'll need in order to not void the warranty and destroy your engine, we'll also install a set of brake pads on your calipers for half price. Yup, you'll probably want the ability to stop your truck so it's a wise option to consider. We should inform you there's also a toll fee at the parking lot exit, so please have your credit card ready to pay that fee too.
Great job on describing the truck! Can you tell me as of today what the MSRP is. Thanks
Thank you! In BC the current MSRP is 49,410 CAD 😊
Someone please help!!! About to buy 23 off road premium. My wife has never driven rear wheel drive. But will only be using it to drive to work which is like 5 km. Spring summer and fall is np. I'm worried about winter would she be OK with the off road tires that come with it in a snow storm? Any input would really mean alot. Hello from Ontario!
I love my Canadian neighbors.....I want a Liter of Cola
😎 Anytime bud!
Pop
The moment I saw the exterior right before you say the name, a sour chewing gum flavour popped in my mouth 😜.
I've never seen that cabin heater before, the engine block heater is common feature but not the cabin one. Is it aftermarket?
Elisabeth how long does it take to get new cars based on current situation going on the market?
That’s a great comparison! 🍋 like sour apple or lemon/lime 🍏
The cabin heater is still a Toyota Genuine accessory! I actually made a ‘short’ on it - maybe I’ll post it tomorrow 🤔
It depends what vehicle you’re after… it’s pretty crazy - for example a Hybrid Rav4 we would estimate over 2-2.5 years (this goes for most hybrids really). A gas model Corolla or Camry could be within 6 months… Tacomas over 6 months.. all over the map!
@@tracksandtrees Yes, I'd like to see the cabin heater video if you get a chance please. 😊
@@tracksandtrees I'm waiting for all short videos you've made so far. Shaaarrree them piiiilllliiiiiz 😁😃.
2 years on waiting list 😳😲😯🤯
I hope everything goes back to normal pretty soon.
@@mfanning186 uploaded! 😁maybe more to come on accessories
That would be great if you can post all the accessory videos that you have. Since no one really posts anything about them. Thank you for the block heater one!
Love everything about that Tacoma except...someone cut a hole in the roof. I hate sunroofs. But love everything else including the color.
What a great colour hey! Limes and tree frogs for days 🐸 sunroofs aren’t for everyone haha
The non premium models don’t come with sunroofs
Looking beautiful the girl and the Tacoma I looking for 2023 4Runner pro please let me know if you have one.. thank you!!!
Do you live on the Island? We might have a Runner coming in if it hasn’t sold yet!
I was looking at this very truck but please tell me what accessory package was chosen or a shot of the window sticker so I know how it was ordered. Thanks
Are you in Canada? Prices and packages may change depending where you live! This model is called an off-road premium and here the msrp for the 2023 is currently 48,770 CAD. This client added a few accessories after like the cross bars 😊
@@tracksandtrees I'm In Spokane Washington so it may not apply here. I was just trying to put this same truck together here as I liked the way it was optioned. Thanks Todd
@@tracksandtrees As is 48.770? Plus tax? I am in Vancouver
@@miloslisinac468 plus freight and PDI of about 2k
Quick question why is it all North American Tacoma’s that are the premium package do not come standard with the J BL radio system.
Hey there! The JBL audio is reserved for the highway trim packages - the Limited Nightshade and the TRD PRO
What’s the msrp compared to the pro?
Currently the MSRP on this model is 52,455 CAD and the TRD PRO is 64,115. Thanks for watching!
What’s the price range for a truck like that?
The current msrp is $48,770 CAD without accessories :)
I still don't get why toyota puts 17 inch on a street truck,it the sport, and only 16s on an off road.
For more rubber than rim! Better for off-roading!
You could sell me a bridge.
I’ll need to sell you a truck after so you can drive across it!
@Tracks and Trees I did not see a heated steering wheel ,is not available.
