- Politcal Analyst Prof Nageshwar claims that a political party in opposition having the greatest numerical strength gets LoP status. However, the Salary and Allowances of Leadersof Opposition in ParliamentAct 1977 and the Leaders and Chief Whips of Recognised Parties and Groups in Parliament (Facilities) Act 1998 say that one-tenth of the total membership is needed for the Speaker to recognise Leader of the Opposition.
