I don't know if you've ever noticed it or not but the reason the wastelander doesn't drown is because it has no engine. Go ahead and inspect it. You won't find it anywhere in the vehicle.

The next time you do an offroad challenge you should use the Outlaw, its an offroad speed demon that practically doesnt even struggle with climbing mountains

the draugr has a mod that lets the engine have a snorkel, which is also useful, even if it doesn't work very well
