Wallace Henry Hartley was my distant cousin. He was the bandleader on the Titanic and his fiance was Marie Robinson. He and his bandmembers went down with the ship. His violin was found strapped to him. Marie had it inscribed and it recently sold for 1.6 million dollars. His childhood was spent in Colne, Lancashire, England and the bust of him is located there. Supposedly, the band played Nearer My God to Thee as it was sinking. Wallace and his band were all considered heroes as they played comforting music while panic was all around. Thank you Joe and Black Country Communion for this beautiful song honoring him and his fellow bandmates in this way.
Huge Titanic historian. God speed to your relatives who played on that ship until her last minutes. They were one of the true heroes that night of many. Myself as a drummer can only imagine what it was like to play music for people knowing you weren't going to live when it was all said and done... Again God speed to all of those heroes men and women on that fateful evening April 14th and 15th 1912.
A few years ago my grandma told me that there was one famous person in our family and that was Wallace Henry Hartley who was the Bandmaster of the Titanic and that they played until the Titanic sank. My last name is Walker and my grandmas last name is Haydon, before that it was Greenwood.
Not long discovered this band, I'm a massive J B fan and kept meaning to look them up and I eventually have and very glad I did...absolutely fantastic songs and a wealth of talent 💜🎸🤌
Mother, father, thank you so For keeping the fires burning home Brother, brother, for giving shelter Throughout those years of war Oh now that it's nearly over After a long night in wait I'd soothe every soul With the last comfort, but mine I believe in love and you need to know That my heart's in your embrace Now I'm leaving well but I bid farewell One last song for my resting place I grew up on a family farm Where the wheat grows like gold I played his music, he forgave my sins As foretold in the books of old Oh now that it's nearly over After a long night in wait I'd soothe every soul With the last comfort, but mine I believe in love and you need to know That my heart's in your embrace Now I'm leaving well but I bid farewell One last song for my resting place Dear maria, enjoy your life You've always known that I'm by your side These are fortunes worse than war Beyond my reach and I have no more My father said upon his death Son, don't shed a tear for me Mrs. Robinson my only life Nearer to God than to thee Oh now that it's nearly over After a long night in wait I'd soothe every soul With the last comfort, but mine I believe in love and you need to know That my heart's in your embrace Now I'm leaving well but I bid farewell One last song for my resting place My father said on his deathbed Son, don't shed those tears for me Mrs. Robinson oh you are my love Nearer to God than to thee Oh maria, I loved you so The heart grows fonder as I go Please think of me as I sleep From beyond the ship into the deep
What do you expect when 3 rock musicians get together to create music? Rock musicians are the classical musicians of days gone past. ROCK WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER!
Absolutely Superb, an Exquisitely Beautiful song. What a Fantastic Band, and Joe Bonamassa sings with such deep feeling. Thank you very much, I love it !.
Amazing awesome a great song master piece of Black Country Communion the melody more incredible and pretty i hearding in last years its love of first audience perfect sinphony of maestry of four fantastic musicians
Such a moody memory inducing track of events now over 100 years old and boy howdy the harmonies between Joe & Glenn are practically Paul+John level. Astounding to hear every time they team up on vox 🤘🏼
Even though I wasn't, of course on the Titanic, I want this song played at my final resting place, Lake Tahoe, as my ashes go to float away. A stunningly beautiful song. Many thanks to Joe and BCC.
God Bless You All for bringing REAL music back in this cookie cutter world we live in... ain't no school like old school.. so looking forward to seeing you live on tour..
I'm so glad, that I can finally say, that there's a band thats musically equal to Led Zeppelin. Yes, I know that LZ are titans of rock, one of the gems of rock music, but every time I hear BCC I feel that they are one of the best bands ever.
this collaboration would be a triumph in any career. But when you consider the spirit of this band and get almost to the point where you can cope with the fabulous lyrics, progression and instrumentation, you may pause as I did and think who that lead vocalist cat is. I mean he has a little career going on the side too - right? I'm jealous of this song. The fiddle, the percussion, the guitar work (Big surprise). Thanks to BCC for taking time to create another masterpiece.
Can't beat a bit of Celtic inspired rock music, well written and delivered by musicians of this calibre. Me coming across this today just as I read about Joe Bonamassa Playing Rory Gallagher in Cork - must be fate !
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for the Sound Check Video !!!! SOUND & LOOOOOKS LIKE THE BEST DREAM I'VE EVVVVER HAD!!!! NO ONE WILL EVVVER FORGET THIS SHOW!!!! I'M THERE IN SPIRIT!!!! LOVE YOU ALLLLLLL!!!! CREW TOO!!!
Wow! What a fantastic band and GREAT music!! This is great and complex music with many beautiful twists and turns....great writing!! Way to resurrect great rock and roll! In a world full of ordinary, you bring the EXTRAORDINARY! Way to rock by all.....and what a vocal by Joe!! I have gladly and wholeheartedly subscribed! The addition to the violin to the music repertoire adds a great down-home element to your emotional and ass-kicking rock style! BRAVO! ~Jackie
i saw joe in 2006 ,,i thought then during the concert well he s never gonna be a great guitar player...well ..this guitar solo here prove me wrong..he became better..much better.. i still got the recording from that concert...i taped myself... great guitar work here..
So happy JB tributed Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore solo riffs. Glenn quietly provided the backup vocals and fantastic bass. Ian Paice pounding drumming style came through too! The classic violino & mandolo (big mandolino) was a nice touch. Would have also added to the acoustic piano; a piano accordion, flute & trumpet to replicate the titanic's band.
Brought tears to my eyes & Rocked my Soul … may seems confusing to others but makes 100% complete sense . My parents, my life, the song’s entirety is Haunting Beautiful!

Love the history of the hero's of the Titanic, May God bless your family
Wow, Ms. Wilkins, just wow.
Huge Titanic historian. God speed to your relatives who played on that ship until her last minutes. They were one of the true heroes that night of many. Barbara, such a beautiful song to honor your ancestor. May Mr. Hartley always be remembered for his bravery and talent.

PURE SOUL POWER !
Chilling !
Thank you , Joe Bonamassa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mother, father, thank you so
For keeping the fires burning home
Brother, brother, for giving shelter
Throughout those years of war
Oh now that it's nearly over
After a long night in wait
I'd soothe every soul
With the last comfort, but mine
I believe in love and you need to know
That my heart's in your embrace
Now I'm leaving well but I bid farewell
One last song for my resting place
I grew up on a family farm
Where the wheat grows like gold
I played his music, he forgave my sins
As foretold in the books of old
Oh now that it's nearly over
After a long night in wait
I'd soothe every soul
With the last comfort, but mine
I believe in love and you need to know
That my heart's in your embrace
Now I'm leaving well but I bid farewell
One last song for my resting place
Dear maria, enjoy your life
You've always known that
I'm by your side
These are fortunes worse than war
Beyond my reach and I have no more
My father said upon his death
Son, don't shed a tear for me
Mrs. Robinson my only life
Nearer to God than to thee
Oh now that it's nearly over
After a long night in wait
I'd soothe every soul
With the last comfort, but mine
I believe in love and you need to know
That my heart's in your embrace
Now I'm leaving well but I bid farewell
One last song for my resting place
My father said on his deathbed
Son, don't shed those tears for me
Mrs. Robinson oh you are my love
Nearer to God than to thee
Oh maria, I loved you so
The heart grows fonder as I go
Please think of me as I sleep
From beyond the ship into the deep
Absolutely captivating song. Through the powerful playing of the music, you can get a sense of the love story and tragedy. Beautifully done.
