For everyone who needs to take observations for class :((( here: Once the Phenol Red was mixed into the other ingredients, the mixture began to fizz, followed by the color changing yellow. One end of the bag was hot and the other cold, because the liquid is endothermic. As the mixture continues to fizz, you can see there's an evolution of gas where the bag is swelling up. This chemical reaction has a generation of gas, its exothermic, endothermic and color changing. Another observation is, if you put your ear next to the bag you are able to hear the fizzing that is happening because of the chemical reaction. When water is added to the bag, an orange and red color begins to show.
I'm trying to figure out a recipe. I want to mix these chemicals with sugar or molasses and I want it to harden when mixed on top of my salt block. Is it safe .
According to Flinn Scientific's instructions for this experiment, "Calcium chloride, baking soda, and water [which is probably part of the phenol red solution] combine to produce carbon dioxide gas.
Yes, experiments are important, and should be introduced as early as possible. I very much appreciate that view of the teacher here. However, I think the design of this experiment is quite bad, to be honest. It is too chaotic. The things one can (potentially or hopefully) learn from this experiment could be much better taught with a differently designed experiment.
I'm learning more from you than my own teacher .
I know I'm quite off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream new tv shows online?

I did this today and wanted to show my parents
Did the mass changed after the reaction?
Law of Conservation of Mass. Mass/Matter cannot be destroyed or created, so it obviously stayed the same. Hope it helped!
We did this in class first reaction was a thermal reaction the bag got hotter and it changed color
Where my HS Chem homies at

Can you dispose of the finished bags in the garbage can?
What causes the bag to inflate

The appearance of gas is a sign of a chemical reaction. When substances mix, they can create gas naturally as a part of the reaction.
YOUR FAT MOM
Why does it react
Bro where the ccm bois at?
It's better if you use about 10ml of water also
What are the four indicators that a chemical reaction has occurred? plz help
Color change, Oder change, Temperature Change, Change in Volume, Precipitant, Gas is given off
