    Chris, so hearfelt and compassionate - this is perhaps what we need, an ARMY of children in front of the Senate & Congress, all shouting " we don't want to get shot at school". I'm seriously thinking of creating an organization similar to MADD, mother's against drunk driving - it took their lobbying to make the penalties harsher for drunk driving...hugs to you and your sweet family 🥰♥️

      Do you remember the teens who went to Washington after the Stoneman Douglas HS shootings? MTG followed one survivor yelling at him, deriding him, threatening him. There is a moral paucity and the senators and congress people who won't save lives will simply look at all those children begging to survive and say, "we will pray for your souls when you die." Then they will turn their backs. For a "God Believing" country, this is hypocrisy in action. Many of us Canadians are hoping (praying) that this stops and that your sons will be safe, as are ours.

    • @trckn_151
      @trckn_151 2 роки тому +4

      That's great seeing how MADD and their lobbying for harsher penalties goes after the person responsible. They don't go after the alcohol brand, they don't go after the vehicle manufacturer, they are not trying to ban alcohol, they are not trying ban a specific brand of alcohol or make it more difficult for adults to drink. Their lobbying goes after the person in the driver's seat, the person who decided to drink and get behind the wheel. So please, by all means create an organization that goes after the person responsible, get kids in front of the senate and congress and tell them to hold the person accountable for their actions, hold the person doing these heinous acts responsible. It be a welcome change to this endless blame of an object.

      How about “don’t let us get shot at school” or “stop allowing us to get shot at school”

    Thank you! I live in Australia and after the port Arthur shootings are gun laws were dramatically changed. You can’t just simply walk in and buy a gun. Only Police and the defence forces own fire arms. The odd farmer and such do but the rules are much stricter. I pray this happens in America. If it was not the right for every citizens to bare arms, then each citizen would not need that right!

    In April of 1996, Australia experienced a shooting by one man that took the lives of 35 innocent people of all ages. Our Prime Minister and current Government said "enough is enough" and acted. Laws changed very fast and guns were even purchased via a buy back scheme from civilians who didn't require the endless weapons that were just gathering dust in many homes. Those who have a legal right to use weapons can do so via obtaining a license. Of course, this will not stop those hell bent on obtaining them but we have not experienced anything like that horrific day again. How long are parents going to have to keep reassuring their children in the US that it's safe to go to school when, in the back of their minds they know it's not? How are the families of those that perished in this tragic event in Texas going to try to comprehend this themselves? It shocked the living daylights out of me when I heard your politicians justify your gun laws on the very day this occurred! PLEASE - for the sake of your children, stop conversations like the one above from becoming a necessary evil and commonality in homes! (I haven't posted my opinion to begin a debate, it's only how I am feeling at present - please be respectful).🇦🇺💖🕊😢

    I am in Australia and in ALL our schools we have 6 foot fences around them and the gates are locked, only open mornings and afternoons, no one can get in, if we need to pick our kids up early, we have to press a button to speak to the office. My granddaughters have had training at their school of what to do if a scary dog comes in, to hide under their desks, ( you know what a scary dog means). My heart is beyond broken and I wish with all I have for America to please please get serious DO SOMETHING, put fences up. Be harder on gun control, I know you have the right to bare arms, but kids do not.

      I doubt anything gets through the NRAs heads. They once called our house asking for my husband. We’re not anti-gun, hunting legally can put some more food on the table when money can be tight..but more for more strict rules at least, not the it’s too hard to enforce so let’s sell to anyone any insane firearm they want no questions asked attitude. I explained he was not home but I’d be happy to talk to them, also my husband has a medical condition (epilepsy) that leaves him uneasy about handling a gun, so I would be the gun owner if I so wanted to choose to do so. The rep on the phone point blank told me that was ok, he’d rather call back to speak to “the man of the house” and hung up. They did call back and got my husband and he politely tried telling them that he wasn’t really interested in having a discussion after what they said to me. The rep tried to keep going, and I was at work and it was summer break so he handed my 8 year old son the phone quietly. Apparently the 8 year old told the rep his views on guns semi-forcefully. The NRA didn’t try calling back again after that.

    This is sad. None of us know why it won’t just stop.

      We do know why it won’t stop: greed, and idiots who care more about their 2nd amendment “rights” than the safety of our children.

    I am sad that you need to talk about this in the first place. 😢 the U.S is like “I am so sorry this is happening.” And they are not doing anything…. It is so common now that not all of the shootings are even in the news. Humanity is so…. How did it come to this?

      Well, Americans have no choice...we can't vote on it, politicians make these laws on their own, We've protested, held signs, and marched to the Capital.
      Sadly, the majority of Supreme Court Justices are "red". I wish we could vote them out, but, they keep that position for the rest of their lives.

    My husband and I have a 9-year-old son who will be starting the fourth grade this fall. I think it should be mandatory for every member of Congress, every state governor, and every state senator to review graphic crime scene photos - with the images of the deceased victims blacked out (but with the location of each victim clearly marked and numbered) - of the Sandy Hook and the Robb Elementary school shootings. Perhaps seeing the horrific, bloody aftermath of a school shooting staining the walls and floors of classroom spaces devoted to young children would help galvanize an effective, bipartisan response to our nation's epidemic of mass shootings.
