CS:GO - HOW NOT to Suck at Clutching

  • As per popular request, I decided to make a how not to suck tutorial on clutching. Clutching is something everyone has done at least once in their CS career, but to do it consistently is a whole different ball game. In this video I go over the various things that you must be thinking about whilst preforming a clutch and hopefully help you become a stronger clutcher in general. Let me know how this video helps you and I hope you enjoy :)

    I think the main part of clutches is to play smart and use the clock to your advantage but also remember your not meant to be winning clutches: i never get stressed in clutches because, whilst there sick to get, your not expected to get them. You cant complain that someone didn't do something amazing when you didn't yourself can you?

    If you want to mute chat I would recommend bindtoggle “key” voice_scale I use it a lot and it comes in handy because when you have voice turned off you don’t really know if you have it off or if your teammates are talking. It’s helpful to see if u have it on or off because you can see your teammates talking without you hearing them! 😃

    Supreme here. In my experience you just stop getting nervous in clutch situations after a while of playing. I've already got HBP so in my early days of CS in clutch situations I'd get light headed and feel like passing out but believe me it's all in your head. Once you stop stressing about and have the same mentality LongBarrel mentions in 2:27 you get much better at clutching and won't have a nervous breakdown.

  • @Peteru69
    @Peteru69 5 років тому

    I might be holding a site alone, not really getting any kills for the first seven rounds, but clutch everytime I'm alone at the end. But I don't have the adrenaline rush while playing anymore, making clutches much easier. It took a while, but desensitizing yourself is really helpful. Team mates are usually the only thing that can annoy me, and muting voice is what I do every single time I'm in a lobby with a noisy "wannabe helpful" team.
    Aiming is important, but people over-simplify being good at the game to aim only, when you're at a certain level it stops being the most important aspect of being "good". Practice aim every day and you should be fine. Rest comes with experience.

    I like to get a bit more technical with my clutches. For example on cache, if I’m in a 1v2 situation where we’ve just taken site and gotten Bomb down, I think, ok so it takes roughly 8-10 seconds for a b rotating player to get to a. One will go truck and the other highway. If I don’t see a guy highway in 10 seconds then he’s pushed b main and gone a main for the flank. Now that I know where both are, I can just hold the angle and hey presto! Easy win

      Same for me.. My favourites are 1v3s and 1v4s as a terrorist where I just like to sneak around and catch a few guys completely off-guard. And I'm usually super smart in clutches but I cant seem to win any normal aim duels.

      Seems like you two are better as a sneaky players with strategic thinking, than direct assailants with aggressive playstyle. Sneaky type of players are usually late round finishers, and aggressive early round picks.

    • @HunterZ20
      @HunterZ20 5 років тому

      This is why the Lurk/Support role exists. People that become hyper-aware and tend to be more successful in high pressure situations. People that have a tendency to be able to sneak past enemy lines and flank with great success. Players like Xyp9x are famous for this type of play-style. So watch their demos, and you will quickly notice that they usually go off when they are put in a hard situation, which is why they usually play positions such as a site anchor, where they get swarmed very swiftly and have to maneuver and stall while also getting multiple kills to make a retake possible.
      And on T side, usually the bomb carrier and utility expert which more often than not is the last survivor on the playing field, once again put into a 1vX situation. It's the type of playstyle I prefer myself. So I completely understand you.

      Cruxal has the awnser to this question but ill tell you my experience
      This actually happens 25% of the time and that was a 5hp vs 3 100hp players killed 2 with an m4a1-s an awper missed his shot i picked up an awp I got him defuse bomb
      The reason why this happens is because you know that sometimes you either get cocky or your team is pretty nice and Communicative (not one of those Clutch or kick faggots) and you know that if you lost the clutch it dosent matter you'll have better equipment next round nor you know that youll lose it anyway

    Also the greatest thing to train is just being able to visualize your surroundings and working your cover. Hugging a bit closer, or farther, from a wall can give you enough cover/time to avoid being shot from behind, go for another target, reset your aim and take the 2nd duel.

I am very good at the game so there are many rounds where I bring a 1v5 to a 1v1 however I struggle when it comes to that 1v1. I can easily do 2v1 and 1v1 so it can’t be nerves right? Anyways I’m not trying to brag, i am trying to go pro in this game and this seems to be a recurring problem for me

    • @LongBarrel
      @LongBarrel  5 років тому

      I think when it comes to 1v2, 1v3, etc for the most part the first few kills are with no pressure, you're not expected to clutch it out and you don't really expect yourself to clutch it out, until you're in the 1v1. Once you're in the 1v1 that's when all the pressure suddenly becomes real, because you know you can win it and so does everyone else; that added pressure is probably what makes you lose those 1v1s. Honestly, the more you're put in those 1v1 situations the more you'll be comfortable and the less pressure there will be, in other words, bait more and clutch more (jk dont bait). Hope that helps!

      Yeah thanks it’s just I’ve somehow got worse at acing but better at the game if that makes any sense.

      That's lack of confidence. Being mge isn't great if compared to pro but you see people that are pretty good and have seen some shitty aim players but have great game sense. Aim helps but there's other factors that can improve your overall gameplay.
