    Dan, I thought the Pilot 823 review was your best so far... and maybe it was. This is now the King of reviews. Not only your best yet but I think it is the best review I have seen to date anywhere. FANTASTIC review that showcased not just the pen but the passion that went into making it as well as your passion for buying it and finding it to be the best in your collection. Thank you for sharing it with us in such a personal light.

    Most excellent review my fellow Manufacturing Engineer and Pen Geek. I especially enjoy the way you intertwine the technical with descriptive.

    Dan, a wonderfully done review as always. The passion purchase does make it all the more special when they come along. Thanks for sharing your story about an heirloom now in your family.

    I totally agree with FPD, that was a wonderful show! And yes, you hit it straight on. Sailor nibs are the benchmark as far as proper nib friction. I have an F, an M, , a B, a Music and a Cross. Each and every one is just superb for my writing and drawing style. Of course, some will feel they aren't as smooth as they wish but to each his own. That pen is beautiful!

    +1 this is a great pen (I have the Tairiku (continent) in Amethyst Mauve with a medium nib). Bit big to carry but just right for my hand and a lovely, lovely writer.
    This review is one of my favourites, not just of your reviews but of any fountain pen review on UA-cam. You really manage to show the pen at its best. Thanks for all the effort.

    ... an heirloom that feeds your soul ... gosh! ain't that a sweet mantra for what life is about! ... thank you Dan!
    I'm on a plan to get an MB 139 ... only bcos my dad bought a used 149 decades ago ... otherwise I would hv never gotten to experience what a fantastic nib on a big pen feels like ... I would hv never spend that kinda money myself... but my dad didn't buy many things, but when he did, he only bought quality ... thanks for the timely reflection ! ... Emotional Connection ! great video production too ! :-)

    Wow, I am very impressed. This pen is of the best caliber. However, I do believe that Sailor must produce a Sailor King of Pen Realo or piston filler as in 2006 for their anniversary, I hope this happens soon and someone or something pushes sailor por the production of this beautiful pen, The King Of Pen, as a piston filler, something that would make so many people happy and full of joy.

    With the black & white, sad music and dramatic speech, I thought the pen was given to you by your father as he died in your arms or something... Apart from the melodrama, great review! You're by far my favourite fountain pen reviewer (sorry Stephen and Matt)

    Likely a bit large for me as is the Sailor KOP Ebonite. Still hard to resist such a beauty. All reviews are glowing and with luck these won't need nib adjustment as my Ebonite KOP does. Thanks, Dan.

    • @thenibsmith
      @thenibsmith  8 років тому

      +Glenn Higley the LB5 still uses the exact same nib unit as the resin and ebonite KOP so it won't be exempt from any possible nib issues.

    May I know the names of the three pens on right side of the Lamy 2000 stainless steel? Great video btw

    Hey Dan, what is the name of the color you bought of the Classic LB5 Sailor King? Also, if I normally use a medium nib, should I get this pen in medium or go larger or smaller? I follow your purchases closely as I trust your judgement and I am slowly building up my collection:)

    What are the main differences between the C.P. Lb5 and the King of pens? Besides the trims and finish. Specifically, nib, feed and filling system. TY

    Hello!!!
    I've seen many of your videos, they are amazing!
    I do own couple of fountain pens, Lamy 2000 and Parker Sonnet, but I would like to buy something that writes amazing and looks amazing. I've been thinking to get the Sailor KOP Demonstrator, what do you think, it's a nice pan like everyone says?
    Thank you very much
    Regards
    Juan

    • @dr.inking5339
      @dr.inking5339 9 років тому

      Hello! Thank you for your quick reply. I'm a big guy, so I guess a big pen will work for me. I'm just a little bit confused about the finish, demonstrator or maybe other finish. Nib I guess I'll take the broad. Thanks again

    • @dr.inking5339
      @dr.inking5339 9 років тому

      Well, I've found place where they have a Demonatrator for just 400$, and the cheapest place I've found for the ebonite it's nearly double. I'll try once again, but I guess I'll have no luck.

    • @dr.inking5339
      @dr.inking5339 9 років тому

      I've found looking around an ebonite for 650$, but still I don't know if 250$ it's worth it. With this money and a little bit more or time I can buy another good fountain pen. Problem is that where I love it's almost impossible to handle one of these pens.

    • @dr.inking5339
      @dr.inking5339 9 років тому

      Good news I guess, I've found the KOP ebonite, silver finish with NMF nib including shipment for 670 dollars, do you think it's a good deal? My friend who lives in Asia ( China ) will buy it for me and send it. In Spain ( where I'm from ) I've seen the same pen for 1200€ ! Thank you for your time.

    • @dr.inking5339
      @dr.inking5339 9 років тому

      Then I'll buy it! Thank you for your help. I'm just trying to decide between the golden or silver. Now I'm just 30 so maybe silver will look better ;) About the nib, there is an option to buy the traditional but for a little bit more prefer the Naginata Togi. I've checked some forums and said that the Naginata nib are quite broad... so a NMF will be the one.

    I very much enjoy your videos as I did this one. My only complaint is that your reviews are so infrequent. Regardless, this is undoubtedly a beautiful pen and, for my own part, I feel similarly (with reluctance) about my Montblanc 149. Like you, I suspect I just can't help it.

    One thing which annoys me about Sailors are that it looks too much like Mont Blanc ( and Mont Blanc came much earlier than Sailor) . When you are spending this much on a pen, you want it to be unique not a copy.
