Dude.. for everyone who keeps saying “there’s aren’t emo bands” fuck you. They may not be the first and/or original but a lot of modern day Emos/Goths and punks listen to these types of bands so just shut the fuck up already if you dumbasses read the description you would know that the creator of this video already knows so you don’t have to say it again!! There are indie, rap, and country songs with emotional lyrics. They are not classified as the EMO GENRE OF music. Yes, emo is short for emotional. These bands do have emotionally driven lyrics. But the music and style of a band discography determines whether it is an emo band.
Also keep in mind I love every single one of these bands and have gone to concerts before (most recently- Twenty one pilots) but I really think about 85% of these aren't in the genre of emo.

For all of you confused. Emo is a genre that started in the 80's and its short for Emotional Hardcore, not just emotional. The genre states that it is Punk Rock with emotional lyrics. Examples of some emo bands, Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Realestate, Rites Of Springs, Embrace, Piebald, Saves The Day, And others like these bands. That is what the genre is, I love the bands in this video, but I'm just trying to tell everyone who says there emo is that this is not emo music, so it doesn't make you emo. To anyone watching this video, non of the bands in this video are emo. Just because they may have Emotional songs, that's not what emo is, emo is short for the full name of the actual music genre known as Emotional Hardcore. It's essentially Punk Rock with emotional tinged lyrics, it's either slow paced with build ups or fast and energetic with many different power chords and lyrics based on aggression, love, loss, and other emotions. Some actual emo bands are Rites Of Springs, Sunny Day Realestate, Saves The Day, Piebald, Embrace, Cap n Jazz, The Promise Ring, From First To Last, Hawthorne Heights, and many others

Zoe Hood not really since 'emo' is actually classified by the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. So weak and self-pity esque songs that fails to project all their emotions into the songs will not be counted as emo. Emo has to sound somewhat energetic, powerful and may sometimes come off as hateful so even if the lyrics are emotional ones, because they lack the rhythm and power to their tones and melodies, they will not be counted as 'emo'.

you do not understand, that would make almost every artist in the world emo. Emo is actually short for Emotional Hardcore. It's a genre that started in the 80's, It's Punk Rock With Emotional Lyircs. The very first bands were bands like Rites Of Springs, Cap n Jazz, Embrace, Sunny Day Releastate. And newer emo bands are Jimmy Eat World, From First To Last, All American Rejects ( their old stuff ) Saves The Day and others. The only thing relatively emo about any of the bands on this video is MCR first album was emo, and that's it. The rest are not what so ever, they are not the true punk rock with emotional lyrics, and that's what is the emo genre. I love all of the bands on here, I just know they are not emo. I hope you learned something and maybe check out some of the bands I mentioned to help keep real emo going

"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
Omg. Stop. First of all, most alternative music styles aren't 'mainstream.' Mainstream is drake, Taylor swift, and fucking Jacob saggytits. And MCR is pretty emo last I checked, they don't NEED to have inane intense guitar and drum solos the whole song to be 'emo.' It mainly depends on the lyrics, which people do tend to mix with depressed, but it's really all in the same. There's seriously no reson you need to be so angry over this 😂 it's literally just a fucking youtube video.
