I think she tested the doctors gullibility with “touch the mountain “. She knew how far she could lead him, and she did.
Yeah I was thinking that too... conditioning him a bit...I still can't figure out what her deal is..they should have given us more info at least at the end of the episode
@@ChrisSmith-tu9bu Destroying his mind at the end. If Gideon can't have him, nobody can, let alone the New Republic. She's still clearly working for the remnants of the Empire.
It was also symbolic of how close he got to touching the cloning "mountain top".
This episode is great! I love it. It feels like a great set-up for what Favreau promised since that panel in SWC before S1. The beginning of the First Order. Also, the dogfight is amazing. Coruscant looks amazing. I love the world-building.
I think Grogu’s first words are going to be “This is the Way”.
+sonn13
Yep
The way this is 🤣
I'm literally going around in real life saying "this is the way." Mostly in preschool class. ;)
They are setting up the return of Gideon and/or Thrawn. Bravo! 10/10
The tie interceptor battle was amazing! The volume has been done sooo well thus far.
I love this episode. I did get the feel that since season 1, Pershing is the type of person that is easy to manipulate. So I'm not surprised he was fooled easily. Felt bad for him though.
I loved the storyline with Pershing. Showing how there are people who genuinely still believe in the ideology of the Empire and how they find themselves in the New Republic and how that eventually leads to the birth of the First Order
@@TheFallofTheEleventh I don't think they really believed in the Empire...Kushing said he just wanted to do the research regardless on only after was he forced to face up to what the empire was doing long enough to feel bad about his part...and that girl said at some point she didn't have a choice
I liked it. They’re showing this whole thing on Corisant for a reason. It’s going somewhere, we just don’t know where. “ITS A TRAP”! That made me chuckle.
Absolutely the Doctor is now going to want to Leave the New republic as they don't respect his work and Tortured HIM! He will now think that they are Just as bad as the Empire so he now going to be easy to convince to escape back to the Empire.
I feel like the middle part of this episode could lead to the answer of "somehow palpatine returned" 😅😝 I mean come on regeneration from a single strand of DNA screams bringing someone from dead
I’ve already seen a lot of negative comments about this episode that I really don’t understand. If this story is going to evolve, we’ve got to have some screen time for the setup of these new directions. The opening battle with the Tie Interceptors was A+, and I loved seeing Coruscant again (even the Opera House!). COULD this narrative been trimmed up? Yeah, I suppose. But why are we complaining about having more time to take in the world-building? I was drawing comparisons in the Coruscant sequence with the style of ANDOR, and that’s not a complaint. I also liked the ending with the covert. I’m not convinced at all that Bo is going to be content to stay with them for long, however.
I can't say I liked the segway to Coruscant. I still fail to see what I was supposed to care about with that.
@@awesimo4684 Moff Gideon, corruption in The New Republic and... we will find out more as we get more episodes and the story plays out.
@@awesimo4684 It's almost as if it's a series with multiple episodes. It's like you never watch any series to say this dumb things to expect everything to lay out in a single episode.
@@awesimo4684 we have been told about how bad the new republic is since season 1. We need to see what happened to the imperials that thought they were doing good cuz of the lies they were told. Thrawn is out there or is this gideons plan
I agree completely, people fail to realize that this is a show & just like any show in existence, it has an overarching story.
But I'll be real, if anything was gonna make people end up complaining about something so trivial like a side plot being setup for the future(if it's even a side plot & not just a sorta continuation of the whole cloning bits we got in Season 1), it doesn't surprise me that it's Star Wars watchers(casual or not).
Regardless, I personally enjoyed this episode so eh.
They wanted us to suspect her from the beginning. The music becomes more sinister whenever she's encouraging him to do things. They not only weren't hiding it, they were using the soundtrack to make us feel uneasy whenever she's on screen. It looks like they are using her to set up a big reveal in an upcoming episode.
THANKS for this! Star Wars to Andor-ish then back to Star Wars--what Jaby said! And Jaby, it's not bad writing, it's the latter: people who are mono-maniacal don't see a lot around them; he was used to being somebody with agency. I went back-and-forth in terms of the setup (perhaps I'm too much like the scientist! :) ), but I was truly shocked when she turned the dial *up.*
Mandor!
There's a moment earlier in the episode when they are taking a walk. She convinces him its ok to make contact with the mountain. A driod comes and tells him he is not allowed to touch it.
I feel that whole scene was foreshadowing for the heist they pull later on.
Great episode and reaction.
Battles are cool...but the intrigue and workings of the characters and whats going on with the political powers are what make Star Wars awesome. This was a fantastic episode, and I'm glad they are going with this.
The middle section is 1984+Brazil+Clockwork Orange. Also, after watching the battle at the beginning more than once, I noticed the N1 pulls a Batman 89. He goes straight up, and it looks like a mythosaurish in the sky
When she turns out to be an operative my immediate thought was: She's thought police this is 1984!
Bo is the only Mandalorian who's allegiance right now is not truly known and because she's now been redeemed she has to wear the helmet at all times. So now we can't see her face and know what's really going on with her so we are in the dark as much as anyone in the show as to what she's really thinking. Well done showrunners.
She doesn't believe in those traditions but she probably will follow the creed because she took notice how she got acknowledged by fellow Mandolorians, she probably will use the religious aspect to unite all of mandalore.
Who else noticed "Its a TRAP" line from the old movies, Dr Pen Pershing said to the doctor(who is of similar race)
I caught that as well. It was a clever reference
Me watching that battle
Andor gets praise for intrigue and good politics stuff and here they complain about the doctor stuff... what is exactly that. If they didn't notice, they are setting up the big bad and that can only be Thrawn. You didn't need more than the line, that no renegade Moff has so much fighters at their disposal. And the Purrgil scene that we saw before are all leading to Thrawn and Ezra. Thrawn will be Thanos for these SW shows, it will take all the different show heroes to beat him in the end.
great comment, you might well be right.
I dont think that the people who praise andor and the ones who praise mando are generally the same.
THIS ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️
I think the episode was amazing and it's going to set the dual for the darksaber we been waiting for.
Pershing's adventure was
1) A great lift of George Orwel's 1984
2) The New Republic is the Empire with a happy face
a) Using letter/number combos instead of names for the amnesty participants
b) requiring approval to proceed on research, ND flat out denying it
c) what is the reason the top if the mountain could not be touched?
Is Pershing now labotamized (SP?)?
It's not even the same....these people are basically on house arrest...SO OF COURSE they're treated like prisoners..I mean they're responsible for heinous acts and ALL RESEARCH needs clearance...that ain't 1984..that's a country, planet, etc not being completely stupid...don't believe try acquiring some plutonium for "home research" or try and develop some viruses for fun LMFAO
The most Andor-esque episode and I love it
Kane is most likely still working for Gideon and they’re going to use Pershings cloning research for Snoke and Palpatine. Definatly excited ast to where this is going.
They took some of the elements of Andor which made this episode one of my favourites. That opening was classic Star Wars and was incredible.
Elia Kane was in a few episodes last season as a Comms Officer on Moff Gideon's ship.
On a side note, I think this actress would be a good casting choice for the main antagonist in season 2 of the Last of Us. She certainly has the physical attributes of the character as seen in her performance in Quantumania.
Loved this episode! That opening was nuts!
I LOVED this episode. And it was really dark, more so than I think most people realize. The Republic fell through its own naivete, its belief that it had defeated the empire once and for all and no longer needed to worry about former Imperials. And part of this fall, too, was brought about by their belief that they could use some of the same tools that the Empire did without being warped by them. Star Wars truly is not for children here.
Lots of parallels between this and America bringing home a bunch of Nazi's
This episode definitely gave me Andor vibes with the Dr. Pershing story.
A lot says that main villain of this seasson will be grand admiral Thrawn as he was mentioned by Ahsoka in seasson 2, and the reaction that there is way too many and upgraded Tie Interceptors for just a simple ex Imperial warlord gives a lot of hint about it. I start to have a huge vibe of reinvented theme of Thrawn Thrilogy books (witch has a spy lady that works for both Empire and New Republic but in book case it was a Mara Jade xD ). The whole scientist scenes actualy explains a lot of previous movies, also i like the fact it`s same ways as after WWII with some of the ex nazi that could be considered war criminals such actions were done too, a lot were placed in cell with a german speaking inteligence officers to check them in almost same ways. I belive the doctor was actualy redeemed but his knowledge is too important to be left in New Republic hands so a fake redeemption lady simply had to find a way to make him silent and that was her mission. As for Bo Katan, i expect a huge fights between surviving Mandalorians because of her, we already see Vizla is not too happy about it, and Bo Katan mentions that problem with Mandalorians is that they fight even among them slefs for even small reasons and that`s why they will never be united, she might start to belive in Mandalore fairytailes but she is known as betrayer of her people, bad ruler, a person that always looks for oportunities for her self only and masking them as doing it for good of Mandalore, i expect there will be huge split in that group, a dark sabre and fight between Vizla, Bo Katan and Mando for it is something i expect soon. Amazing episode for sure.
Didn't the departure of the tram remind you of the Monorail at Disney? 😄
We got a Mando episode in The Book of Boba Fett and now we got an Andor Episode in Mando. It's fair!😂😂😂
"This is the end of the train."
He's emphasizing it because she needs to tell him what to do NOW!
And in this world of technology and drones and robots, jumping is the best she could come up with?
What people should take into account about Dr. Pershing is that for him it's always just been about the work. He knew the Empire was after Grogu, but even after they had him, he was protective of Grogu. When Din came looking for him, he gave information readily. He was like 'I protected him'. There is an innocence about him, almost a gullibility. He's just interested in the work. I imagine he was coerced by the Empire into thinking his research would be doing a lot of good in general. So it wasn't surprising that he blindly trusted this woman. He's naive enough to think that since he's now with the Republic, she is too. That innocence and abilitiy to trust is just in his nature.
He's irresponsible and puts the research over the people he could be hurting and it's probably why that girl felt okay with frying his brain. Although being ignorant is excusable CHOOSING ignorance because it benefits you personally to pretend like everything is a-okay can be particularly abhorrent...Even this episode he had to tell himself he was helping (without considering the consequences) because he needed to convince himself to give him a reason to do something he shouldn't because he loves doing the research
Grogu with this is the way 😭
Bo-Katan's giving me some serious Daenerys Targaryan vibes this season.
Bo just went on a rescue date with a man she met before and he ended up joining her into his cult
This felt like we got 2 episodes at once! The half with Dr. Pen Pershing and Elia Kane was VERY intriguing. I actually did believe at the end that Elia had Pen’s back but then she upped the voltage on that mind flayer and then just stared at him with those scary ass eyes. My theory is that she is trying to break Pen’s faith in the New Republic by making it seem like they are torturing him while she takes advantage of his naïveté. Katy O’Brian definitely stole the show this episode, hope she gets more roles out of this.
As for Din and Bo, now that Bo is essentially homeless and Din has redeemed himself in the eyes of his sect of Mandalorians I’m very interested in seeing where he goes from here. And Bo has now been “redeemed” since she has also bathed in the living waters (which I’m very curious about those waters because that glow was very alarming) and since she is now back with a new clan what’s her next move?
Good way to put it
Oh that's more likely what Kane's trying to do. I thought she was just trying to wipe his research clean from his mind so he couldn't continue it for the benefit of the New Republic.
@@sheevamshekhar8767 or she just eliminates the evidence of a witness - the Dr and Elia both know about the cloning project and the donor (Grogu)
In addition to Quantumania, Katy O'Brian was also on Z Nation, Black Lightning, and Agents of SHIELD.
I loved this episode, it was so interesting and continued to built up the post-Empire world. We already knew that doctor Pershing is about science and only science, he will work with whoever he has to. So him seeing the failures of the New Republic and how little sense it made to throw away stuff they could use to rebuild the republic faster and more efficent (at least that's what I read from those scenes) just made him desperate. I mean they had these conversations with the droid about his feelings for the Empire and the New Republic, the only use of them was to show his growing despair.
Everything he did made total sense. Him meeting someone who also worked on Gideons ship was a quick way to connect with someone, who've been through the same things he has been through + she sees the value of his work, so falling for her trap is human and understandable.
3 episodes so far and every single one was great!
I think we just saw Grand Admiral Thrawn's forces.
The episode was to set up that the New Republic is getting compromised by Imperials which will eventually lead to the First Order and that Mof Gideon isn't out of the picture just yet.
Talking about perfection, MONOSAUR?!?!?!?!?!?👀👀👀👀
Montessaurus, Cortney? That's a dinosaur IRL. ;)
you guys missed " it's trap!"
I have the feeling Dr Pershing is a villain, there was a lot of focus on him. I guess Elia Kane was playing the role of Frankenstein bringing to life a monster.
Yeah I've heard other people say that...maybe she twists him in some way
hes more like the naive conflicted guy who really wants to do good things - but first he is forced to conduct his research for bad people with bad goals - then he is working for good people but is prohibited from his research at all. very OP Paperclip'ish. Elia is 99% likely still loyal to the empire and maybe this episode was setting up the stage for Gideons return (the rumor he escaped from the war trials and the large inceptor group which attacked Bo/Djin hinted at it), the doctor knew to much or was to negative about the empire to work for them again and therefore was set up in order to get his mind fucked.
Love the shirts 😂❤
I've seen nothing but positive comments for this episode on my end. People are complaining about the doctor being so gullible but a lot of people live sheltered lives. The doctor been involved in science since he was a child, his mom was a scientist who died so all his attention was his research so the normal social ques probably isn't as familiar to him also remember he wasn't a blood thirsty scientist he was talk into helping the empire thinking he was helping people so this isn't surprising. Also the actress who plays bo katan said in a podcast that she didn't tell anybody what she saw because she isn't sure of what she saw or if she imagined it. That's why she asked Din if he saw anything in the water. It happens sometimes people
question is, in the shipyard, was it an ISD1 or an ISD2?
Jaby sounded like the mircomachines guy in that intro
mf REALLY heard "Join the Dark Side, we have cookies!" and thought it was a good idea.
That Tie Interceptor dog fight scene was awesome,I feel really bad for Pershing :( Seems like New Republic is not so different from Empire :( I hope the Mandalorians will go back to rebuild Mandalore :)
So nobody’s gonna talk about the “ ITS A TRAP” moment ?
Sometimes an obvious statement is an implied question.
The scientist guy was more similar to Gale than Walter.
I love how the Mandoverse is teaching fans to fear TIE Bombers. Those of us who played Rogue Squadron and Battlefront II know them well, and respect their power. A well-motivated TIE Bomber pilot can take down a rebel cruiser in Battlefront II, and swarms of them are a menace to the Rebel Fleet in Rogue Squadron 2.
Surprisingly, this episode didn't do it for me, but that's okay.
Honestly, the stuff with Pershing and Kane gave me that Andor feeling that everyone else saw from that show, even though I still haven't seen Andor yet (I possibly will get on that before Season 2 and Ahsoka hits). Shoot, I was kinda getting bored watching that portion of the episode, even though I was paying attention to everything.
So far, Season 3 has gotten off to a slow start to me. But, I think it's intentional, because we have 5 episodes left. So, I hope in Episode 4 or 5, things pick up.
The stuff with Bo and Mando was nice to look at. Intrigued as to what is Bo's endgame here. Also, nice to see Katy O'Brian from Quantumania here (haven't watched that yet). I'm pretty sure, during the recap in the beginning, they showed her from Andor. I could be wrong about that.
To make a long story short (too late!), I'm not a fan of this episode, and I hope things pick up soon.
All the Coruscant part was very cool... but, somehow, I´d have loved mando´s parts as they were, BUT, the Coruscant and Dr Pen written and filmed by Andor´s crew... that would have been awesome...
Ok I just heard their part about Andor lol XD
When will the next episode will be uploaded of warrior?
It's already up
living water = mythosaur bath water
Loved this episode
Umm Steph sabraw is the Star Wars gal. She’s on sith council. She should be on this
She can't make the midnight shows.
I think everyone is missing the point of this episode, the point is showing you how the new republic is not going to be ready to face any large scale threat . Thrawn is coming with a fleet of star destroyers , Moff Gideon was only one piece of the puzzle , listen to what Bo Katan said that was way too many fighters for a warlord. The new republic is scraping star destroyers and Rebellion capitol ships , they will not have the resources to fight any organized threat, first Thrawn, then a few years later will be the first order , or even maybe the Grisk ( what used to be the Vong ) . This is all foreshadowing think big picture.
She basically stopped him from using his tech for good!
I mean she stopped an irresponsible guy from doing research that could be used for good OR evil...for whatever reason
Or stopped him from revealing the donor-cloning project to the NR. ^^
Waiting for the #Warrior Ep3 reaction. 🔥
Yes its her
The covert
Pershing was forcefully converted to join the new republic even tho he can’t let go of his past with the empire and there technology in cloning.
Bo was given a choice to join the creed willingly where she can freely leaves
I believe Gideon is taking revenge on the people who betrayed him in season 2, he is probably the one to have sent the tie interceptors and bombers to Bo-katan and also sent his second in command to corusaunt to get rid of pershing since pershings is the one who got the team into gideons ship.
I loved the beginning and end. The middle was good but this felt like watch bait. Get me hooked on Mando, then switch me to the scientist for most of the episode... then go back to Mando as a reward for my patience.
This episode feels the weakest so far, but 6/10 for me still. Preferred to have scientist bit first then Mando last. Eat my vegetables before I move to dessert lol
"Well...she had this Apple 🍎😉
I got Andor vibes for sure.
They could have made 80% of this episode into like 20% of what it was for whatever it is they are building towards.
Don't listen to him Anakin
Is bo joining just to get more information are is she starting to believe
So G-68 is just going to get away with mind-flairing the scientists' brain? Like how does she talk her way out of being guilty? She's the only one in the room, lol. That is bad writing.
El personaje de lente es igual al de el loco de farcry 5 ...😊😊😊
never trust anyone from the quantum realm
I like the fact that this episode shows the New Republic isn’t all rainbows and unicorns. It’s still a government with questionable practices. I see Grand Admiral Thrawn all over this episode. Best part is the whole “convert” title made you think it’s about Pershing but I believe it’s about Bo-Katan eventually seeing the positives of the Children of Mandalore Cult.
So they (New Republic) just slap a New name In the mind flayer And didnt adjust the settings, Its like if someone took the Electric chairs And made them skulp massagers And didnt drop the voltage barameters at all, why still have the fley level setting In place at all😏
IKR!! I was thinking that the whole way through!! Like initially he was actually enjoying it so it wasn't that serious by when why have a dial that goes past 3 when each level last causes excruciating mind scramble
I had a bad feeling about her from the Beginning
Wasn't done even remotely close to the lvl of artistic ability of Andor.. This was how do we do "ANDOR for kids"
No due process for the Doc. Didn’t even get to read the report. Even if it was a parole violation you should still get representation and a hearing. New Republic ain’t it y’all. Now I’m less bothered with the First Order getting organized so quickly.
Eh that depends on the State but this guys are wat criminals too..and the machine wasn't awful until she turned the dial up ...which its weird that was an option
The idea they had for this episode could of been interesting but execution just wasn't there for me or maybe the set up was fumbled. Cuz It was so obvious that Gideons former assistant was going to betray/playing Dr. Pershing from the moment she sat down for his speech. (We just don't know who she is working for after this which was the only thing even remotely engaging about their storyline) Jumping from the train bit was ridiculous, the Dr. packed up his "mobile lab" in a suitcase, sucking on glowing butt plugs in a sparse carnival space, the dialogue was so surface level & basic combined with average acting performances. I literally started laughing when she pulled out the RED biscuit and bite's it as if it was Pershing's head.
Mythosaurus
Every time she says "monosaurus" it triggers me 🤣
Watch, the Kane ot whoever gal, she'll end up being Andor's long lost Sister !!! Think, is it possible? Crossover.. ✌️
I have a crush on Bo
I think it's safe to say a lot of people do 😀, and on Katee Sackhoff her self.
Too bad she's supposed to be in her 60s here but Disney Star Wars couldn't give a shit about continuity.
Andor was interesting, this was just boring and predictable. The middle was as bland as the chicken dish at a wedding.
Come back to the Dark Side, I've got cookies!
Most obvious betrayal since sang wu and ali
Disney Star Wars has been abysmal. I don’t know anybody watching this. Have a strong feeling viewership numbers are quite low 😬
There are too many shills out there
I disagree with most of it what you guys are saying , if you really think there aren't people who are genuinely doing something that they think they are doing right and the are also people who trust people immediately then I think there are something wrong with you guys , people are built differently and I could definitely see the scientist as a real person in the world who genuinely wants to do good for the society but couldn't do it because of bureaucracy. What you guys are like I seen it coming but that wasn't point of the story , you guys want the story to movie forward immediately but sometimes stay in the story just like the episode 3 of last of us
The AndorLorian
Mythosaur
The problem I had was I knew Kane was going to betray Pershing from the beginning. As a result, the whole middle section of the ep felt a little too long.
Yeah they really drug that part out considering how quickly she turned..I just wish they gave us some reference so it seemed more relevant
10/10
This might be my favorite season. Every episode has been amazing imo. Girl on the right kinda ruins these reactions for me though. 🤷♂️
For everyone lol
Thank god this show got more adult like and darker , waaaaaayyyy better the last 2 episodes
No she wasn’t trying to scare him, now she has his DNA from that popsicle. She’s still in contact with Moff G. He’s such a freaking IDIOT!!! He’s not realizing that she’s using him.
Worst episode to date! 🤦♂️
Only diehard super fans like that boring a$$ Andor tone
Mandalorian fans dgaf about the politics of the New Republic
I think Bo-Katan being redeemed too is just a cheaper way to pay stunt guys to do all the acting and pedro & Katee to just do voice over work...
Even if they were helmetless they wouldn't do their own stunts
@@JTM610 yeah i guess so lol but now they dont even have to book them for a single day of shooting...
Probably not wrong lol
Such a shame that after this episode we can only admire Bo-Katan's ass :(
Right Jaby?
btw this Coursant part was strange, looks like this rehabilitation program don't work xd
Monosaurus? Leave it up to the new black face to prove how much of a fan she is. SMH
