"For Owen" is a tribute to Owen Scheele and the Carroll Football Team that went to the State Championship during their 2022 season. Premiered in-person at Carroll High School on November 24, 2023.
This short film is the most difficult, yet most rewarding project that I've ever taken on in my entire life. It took me over a year and a half to finish this film so I hope you enjoy it!

After having Owen in class, taking care of him on the practice & game field… Grant, you were able to share all of his qualities perfectly. You were also able to share the emotions, challenges, and LOVE that allowed the family, team, school, and community to heal and grow more because of the touch Owen had and continues to have on us all.
Your videography & editing skills really told a beautiful story that was experienced by many who still love #13.

truly a work of art grant. i've been following you for a while, but this is something else. the storytelling, cinematography, sound, music - it's perfect. you're a huge inspiration to me and you absolutely killed this project!
I met a teammate of Owen's the day he died. I had given the young man a ride, we were talking nfl, laughing about some nfl plays, then the young man got really quiet, he asked me, do you keep up with any High School football? I said yeah I have a stepson that plays football." He says, "Do you know the Carroll Chargers?" I say yes, I do. He asked if I knew who Owen was? I say no, I wouldn't know anybody by name on the team, but I do try to keep up with the standings, and I enjoy watching the highlights on the news. He then tells me that he had just graduated, but he played ball with Owen, and he literally had just received a text message telling him that Owen had passed. I had never met this young man before, I was simply giving him a ride but now we were having an in-depth conversation about life. He couldn't understand why Owen had died, he told me what a great young man Owen was and how he was the funniest kid he ever met! But he was also probably the nicest kid he had ever met ! he said I don't understand why this boy..... I told the young man I'm sorry I don't have any good answers for you on that, I told him I had lost my brother when he was 18 and I was eight. I told the young man I'm sorry that you lost your friend but go out and celebrate his life and do things that you know would make your friend Owen happy. Just from this conversation I knew that Owen I've been a great person and had an impact on people's lives. I'm terrible with names but I asked the young man to tell me Owen's name again and I wrote it down so that I would not forget. Then later I was able to find the updates from his family on the Caring Bridge . Owen sounds like he was an amazing young man. I couldn't believe how quickly the head lost their son. Watching this video, you can see the pride in his parents' eyes, and you can also see the pain. To grant that made this video, thank you for doing that so more of us could learn about Owen. To Owens parents, you definitely have my heartfelt condolences, and also my respect as you how to raise a wonderful son. Also, thank you for sharing your story. I know that had to be very hard and bittersweet 🥺😊 ❤ 13🏈
