I think they could take this idea and make it non-fall guys based, have more high end raiding mechanics. Make it a way to learn how these mechanics work and how to resolve them.

    • @RuneML

That could be cool. Kind of like a high level hall of the novice for players. So that people could learn how to stand and resolve... I am sorry for the meme.

Thanks for explaining that. It happens fairly often that I'll move safely past one of the mechanics (e.g. the sliding pillars) and yet I'll still get hit by it. It's not exactly fatal. I'm still able to play and pass levels, but it is definitely frustrating and I was wondering why that was happening. I'm glad I'm not the only one it's happening to.

This is way harder than normal fall guys because of ff14's lag and parkour.

i actually think FFXIV is a very snappy MMO. The way i use snapsnot is snapshot is the exact ms that the AoE checks who is inside the AoE. And it sometimes just doesn't line up with the animations. In this event's case i assume it's intentional to throw off people and make it more a shitshow, they want people to get hit after all. Take the yellow AoEs in the last stage for example. It snapshots like a full second before you can see the yellow AoE. Meaning you can be halfway inside the yellow AoE by the time it appears and not get hit.
But during raids and telegraphed AoEs the snapshot generally happens when the Enemy's cast bar finishes and that is very snappy to me, barely ever failing me to the point i'm myself surprised that i did not get hit, knowing that the position the server seems me at is prolly 100ms behind what i see on my screen.

It's completely nonintuitive to how human perception functions.

@@ArdentRage If you play the game, you should know by now how it works, and when you understand that, "nonintuitive" isn't true. If the aoe circle disapears, you hit or dodge the aoe. It's really isn't that "nonintuitive". Maybe for like the first day or so, sure. But if you lack that much critical thinking to not understand that standing in aoe circle or line or whatever, then that is unironically a skill issue.

@@F34RDSoldier805 Anyone can figure it out, learn fights, and predict things. But look at how terrible fall guys mode is. Fall guys mode puts on full display how the net code is awful. Players cannot react to any mechanic, and the server snapshots and server lag contribute to an infuriating experience. Looking down at the ground to see an orange circle isn't fluid when most visual details are occurring elsewhere. You make it sound like it is a skill issue, and fail to recognize how much of an effect this has on every aspect of the game. If you had a 100 ms delay on everything you did in real life you literally couldn't speak. It isn't intuitive.
The development team has to actively work around the net code and use a crutch of having an orange circle to indicate what is happening rather than the fight showing what is happening.
Imagine a fighting game that the hit boxes showed up to indicate where a hit was occurring rather than the actual animation occurs. That would be laughable.
Then in addition to that, having extensive warnings. The delay and snapshot system is clunky and makes the game unappealing to many players. It is fundamental to why playing a healer feels awful because there is no reaction in the game, only memorization and prediction, which is rote and boring. I have tried to get several friends to play the game, but are turned off due to how bad it feels.
"Well then don't play the game." That's dismissive because there is a good game here, and this flaw of the net code diminishes many of the qualities of the game. If this could be changed it would improve the experience for many players.

@@ArdentRage there being mechanics that players are unable to react to (the falling balls in the last stage) and snapshots are two completely different things, dont use them in the same argument. As for snapshotting, honestly if you play enough, it becomes a non-issue. Its only a problem if you are fairly new to the game or have a preconceptions that the animations for things are somehow tied to the actual hit. Even in cases like 6:48, yes it looks weird, but anybody (and probably the player themselves knew) that they shouldnt be making that movement in the first place. 7:09 is a clear example where its obvious what is going on. the sliding objects are not actually sliding objects (something like that has never been supported in ff14 and never has previously made an appearance on any dungeon or raid), its the same as a common raid mechanic, the tackle. Therefore, the AoE actually takes place at the exact same time the animation starts. It really isn't unintuitive at all.
As for the random balls in the last level, I personally do not like it, but I think its necessary to give some other people chances at winning, otherwise if it was purely a skill check, the same people will always win. It is a necessary evil considering only one person can technically win per event.

meanwhile you got p12s the half room cleaves which snapshot around 0.5 seconds before it actually happens.
once you know you can avoid it, but it's annoying how it doesn't line up and reeks of lazyness, I get that it's a snapshotty esque game, i've been playing this game for 6-7 years now, and honestly Endwalker feels the worst offender with the snapshot, i've done the old Alex raids on min ilvl no echo and none of the mechanics felt that the snapshots were misplaced.
same for Stormblood and Shadowbringers, obviously you had 1 or 2.
but Endwalker feels really bad for this, especially 2nd and 3rd raid tier.
in p10s for example, the in/out mechanic that pandaemonium does is extremely early with the snapshot, while then the towers that drop are extremely forgiving (sometimes you're in it and move out when the circle dissapears and still be fine)
wish they would put more time in either fixing the snapshotting issue or making sure everything lines up properly, they've already taken an extra month between each raid tier, might aswell make it count.

Final map actually has 0 rng. it all follows patterns, but you need to keep track of at least 3 at once

    • @kailler9217
      @kailler9217 9 місяців тому +3

wrong. starting position is RNG, and starting position is everything. the right position can mean you basically don't need to turn, which means less slowdown and a near guaranteed win. being on the right side is basically a definite loss if one on the left side doesn't screw up.

    I hate this event.
I've never been a fan of Battle Royale games and the fact that the finale is straight-up just "Make one mistake and the Limsa ERP Femboy Bunny who played the finale 18 times has instantly won" sucks. It doesn't feel like anything could happen that allows for a comeback, which just means you'll always be at the mercy of how good the best in your game is.

  • @UmbraWeiss

Biggest problem is , every map is more about skill, the last one is a f ing bullshit RNG garbage, or more like you need to know the pattern, because yes, they drop in patterns... but after you do the first 2 map, the 3rd one is just looks like RNG. So the last one is more like you know the patter, or not game. And it's just garbage overall.

I think the last round there's definitely RNG, though some say there's a "path" but I've done this "path" and often will get clipped still
