The best way to describe a barn find is a rare, highly sought-after car that has been sitting for a long time. If it were me, I would turn these non-road worthy cars into track-ready cars.
Im Malaysian and growth with Proton cars and no doubt im so prouds with proton even many peoples call proton is junk rebacth car. Here i've strongs supports and prouds wacthing yours loves at this car.
The one of the winning team in WRC a long time ago by Karamjit Singh and Allen Oh. Proudly having this car with me as my second car right now. Thanks bro.. Will not missing Yr videos more and more... Good job.. ❤ From Malaysia.
Hi Jon well it’s a survivor and it’s the first eco proton 😂 ideal for ulez lol seriously it will live through keeping others on the road a shame as it would have been great a local car to you - great video as ever hope you are all well Daniel
thats a pretty loaded one too, power windows and all. i had an 88 dodge colt wagon here in the states. basically the same thing just a mitsubishi underneath. great cars
Believe me malaysians put in the 4g63 mitsubishi evo engines under the hood with big turbos and it fits perfectly.. those protons is are not foreign to Mitsubishi's turbo engines here in malaysia.. i would also suggest u look for proton satria gti jon.. the living lotus tuned proton legendary
Here in Worksop, Notts VL was also used. I didn't get why we used Lincolnshire area codes but i guess due to us being classed under E Midlands it makes sense.
@@JonCoupland Realistically as we're closer to Sheffield and the S Yorks border we should have used their area codes but haven't. My mum's Renault 5 ended in VL and her Clio in FE which was registered in Worksop.
Prime candidate for an EV conversion I would of thought ;) However with that rust and the much nicer Protons you have, I reckon let it save the others.
One parts car, one a daily. What’s not to like!😊 The styling is dated, but I bet if you fitted a set out 15” alloys and lowered it a chunk it would look a million times better.
I think this thing is absolutely crying out for an engine transplant of some sort ❤ K20 ? VAG 1.8t ? Zetec ? Someone please save it, I'd do it but I have enough cars already 😂😂
@@JonCoupland Are they easy enough to find ? Obviously keeping it "family " is cool, but my initial response was based ( aside from the K20 ) on scrapyard based finds :D
This was filmed literally as found and dropped off. The chaos dumped it on my driveway and left. I had a good idea it was missing BUT like I said in the intro ... It could have been something heavy in the boot also 🤞👍
I know it’s a hulk, but if I had all the money in the world I’d probably buy it to be shipped to Malaysia and have it restomodded. There’s a company that can do it, albeit for a high price…
Parts car that it.look at Mot history in 2015 says rear chassis is toasts as is the rear trailing arms good lick with the other one. I'm sure the engines was from mitsubishi
@JonCoupland as long as it lives on on other cars that's all that matters. Is the flywheel and torqe converter in the boot too? As it may have been put in the other one
Thanks for watching! In hindsight I should have known the engine was missing BUT was optimistic 🤣
I don't think finding an engine would too difficult as it was also in Colt's, Wira's, Satria's etc.

So the plan with them is to strip them for spare parts to keep the other ones i own on the road and then banger race them :)
That barn was the barniest of barns. The martyr which will save other Protons!
People cant shout at me for using the term Barn Find at least ;)
your reaction when you lifted the bonnet. Priceless! 🤣
🤣 - I semi expected it ... But it did make me laugh

Have to be honest, aside from it being horrifically dirty, it doesn't look to be in bad condition. My guess is the engine ended up in the other one.
Its sadly very rotten underneath - the engine from what i can gather ended up in another proton i saved recently but not the other on in this video
@@JonCoupland It's a perfect donor as spares must be super scarce now.
Great source of parts & credit to you for saving all things Proton as much as is realistic
Glad you think so! - Cheers :)
At least the lack of engine makes prep for a full body re spray easier.
This one wont be heading back on the road i fear

Will there be a video on the other proton (with the engine)?
There certainly will be :)
@@JonCoupland yess
jon, a good wetvac will bring those seats up and be useful to someone with a knackered interior, plus good for content cleaning them up lol
Great idea - i do have about 5 or 6 interiors already in stock too :)
I think I'm going slightly mad comes to mind. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you've got one amazing and understanding wife Jon
I certainly have!
I have seen submarines come back from 6month patrols with less growth on them than that hahaha!
Ha!

Lots of good parts! Keep all of the glass, if it's good. Keep anything plastic that's not rotten.
Absolutely
You definitely, definitely ARE mad!
🤣🤣👍
Definitely a classic in waiting
Absolutely! Thanks for watching
That space blanket looks like a sun shield to me. We use them all the time here in Australia (summer)
Ah thats a good shout! Of course!
thats a pretty loaded one too, power windows and all. i had an 88 dodge colt wagon here in the states. basically the same thing just a mitsubishi underneath. great cars
Yeah :) - its the 'top model'
Definitely salvage all that you can from it, cant be many proton parts cars left these days 🙂👍
That's the plan!
Hi Jon Coupland I'm form Malaysia We have a tonne of cars over here proton iswara ,saga
Awesome 👍 👍🇲🇾

Well its funny you say that! There may be a GTI coming to the channel soon!
most in malaysia we put vr4 engine in it.. and the grill badge is the most expensive here..hard to find uk spec badges
:) - thanks for watching
I had an idea that the barn find was engineless in the first video, due to how high it was sitting at the front. Good parts car, though.
It was a concern. Absolutely 😁

This Proton will ensure that other Protons live on but were did the engine go
Thats a mystery i'd like to solve :)
Thanks
As ever Mike. Humbled by your continued support of the channel. Thank you 😊
Do like proton videos, really liked ones I had years back must be about half dozen in total, sadly not as many as yourself.
Im glad its not just me who loves them!
❤❤❤

We're considering a Proton GTI 1.8 engine ...

good spares source for steph
Absolutely
Good luck on finding the engine..😅
:)
Put a Mitsubishi diesel in it
That would be fun
Woah.. this is one of those Malaysian treasure. High Valyrian Iswara, driven by Targayen to war
Iswara Tank ;)
Just install mitsubishi 4g91 in there
😁🇲🇾
So where did the engine end up, I wonder?
From doing some research i believe its in another Proton i saved recently!
You should have known that the engine was out,by the front ride height.
This was filmed literally as found and dropped off. The chaos dumped it on my driveway and left. I had a good idea it was missing BUT like I said in the intro ... It could have been something heavy in the boot also 🤞👍
when started the restoration mate
We wil not be restoring this one sadly - it will be stripped for parts to keep my others on the road :)
Maybe they was thinking of converting it to electric 🤣🤣
Would be a fun project!
Your Dad is going too be kept busy
Not sure if Dad and i are going to be putting these ones back on the road! But he will certainly be helping me with parts!
those seats look barely worn, just dirty from sitting in a barn for decades, try having them deep cleaned, i bet they would pop out just fine!
I have now removed them to do just this :)
@@JonCoupland awesome, post results in next video perhaps, would love to see!

£200 of massacre😂😂 Basically a ‘night market’ car lol
☺️👍
Slap a GTI engine in. 😜
A sleeper Proton would be fun!
In malaysia its being called as d old bangers car
Sadly the same here in the UK
@@JonCoupland hahahaha, however i am proud because u are reviewing malaysian car
As it's lacking the engine it could become an electric car. But not economically viable to do that I suppose.
Would make a cool project!
Ach you will get something of it 😂😂😂.
Fingers crossed
Not a 1.5 SE... a 0.0 NE (No Engine).....
🤣🤣👍
I was hoping it was the engine in the boot, but sadly not.
Shame
Me too!
Whyyy😂😂
😁👍
Jet wash
It's coming tomorrow ☺️👍
what ever happened to Proton
They left the UK in 2014 due to EU emissions guidance changing. They are now owned by Geely
@@JonCoupland oohh fair enough
£50 scrap value lol
I'd be up £50 then ;)
