Can I use cotton fabric for the first layer (or cotton /polyester mixed fabric )? Cause I don't know where to purchase good design for polyester fleece. The cotton fabric has better design....
Hello, this is an old video, so I hope I get a reply. How long do these last? I've seen people use towels in their fleece liners for years, but I heard towels smell more. Do U-Haul pads get worn out after a certain amount of time?
I've only tossed out two of mine that I made when I first got my pigs; but that's because I didn't like the quality of them. I would say if you're washing regularly, maybe 5+ years!
hey um i dont get how you did the fleece thing so the middle one is facing down so the fluff is facing the uhaul and then the top one as well or how like the way you said "right side up but i dont even know what side is which
do you throw these out once they've peed on it? For the smell and all? I'm guessing that you made multiple of these so you can rotate? I'm getting a guinea pig and not sure what I should use for the bottom that is absorbent and doesnt smell a lot.
Can I put only these pads on the bottom of the cage without putting anything above or under( In some videos I saw that someone put towels or other things under de bottom of the cage). Does these pads create any smell when using it alone ?
I wouldn't reccomend not putting the absorbent material, unless you put the absorbent material underneath the liners. Otherwise it won't absorb correctly.
+Rabbits 101 you get uhaul here -> www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Protective-stuff/Furniture-Pad?id=2670 you can use towels instead, but they don't work as well. I used to use them but they started smelling much quicker. hope this helps! :)
I learned to blind stitch, or "slip stitch" in under an hour by watching tutorials on UA-cam (I'm hand-sewing rat hammocks). Next, I'm going to sew some cage liners like the ones in this tutorial. Just got my Uhaul cloth today! Thanks for the upload! ps, I fixed a jacket today with my new slip-stitching skills. UA-cam is amazing :)
+PiggieHeaven68 here's the link to her shop www.etsy.com/shop/alexandriasanimals?ref=hdr_shop_menu her shop is closed right now though. I know of more great shops if your interested :)
Yes you can use cage liners for rabbits. I do not reccomend keeping rabbits outside, they should a 2x7 c&c cage (3-4 cubes high) to sleep in at night, and during the day they should have free roam of a room/house.
I think thats what they are. There like a thick blue material. The lady at the uhaul place I got them said they are absorbent because when ppl bring them in there soaked from the rain. I just bought some yesterday cause I plan on making money off of making them.
Try places like Craigslist, Letgo, and local Facebook yard sale pages. I just bought my 1st machine from a really nice old couple on Letgo for $75. It's a Brother Project Runway ($150 new). And make your brother pay for it, lol.
This is the first video I've watched that actually showed the Uhaul material! That means I finally know what to get!
Awesome!
How many times did you have to wash the Uhaul before you used it?
I just wanted to say thank you. you helped me learn how to make my liners. I can't believe how much easier everything is because of them.
You're very welcome! (:
I love that you make your own fleece
Thank you so much! I’m making some cage liners for my cousin as a Christmas gift!
Yay!!
Thank you so much! This is by far the best tutorial I've seen and so helpful, my piggies might be getting a new liner soon 😉
+Millie Challoner Thank you, I'm glad it helped!
Amazing video!! I loved how clear and easy to follow it was, and the end product turned out great!
Awesome video so detailed and easy to do :)
International Piggies Thank you! I'm glad it was easy to follow! (:
Amazing video! That looks so good!!! I need to learn how to sew soon. For now I'm going to try the no sew method :)
Thank you for this!!!! I made these with uhaul furniture padding the recycled Jean material one and fleece on top. They are wonderful
TIP: before cutting any string tie two knots to prevent ripping during washing😊👍
Thanks!
This was so helpful, thank you so much!
love love love this video helped alot thanks 😄👌
I love your vids!! Keep up the great work💜👍🏻
Thanks!
Such a cute video, but we don't have uhaul in our country what woud you recomend then as the absorbent layer?
ArajKa & Mazlíčci , use a moving pad. It should be made out of the same material just not the same brand:)
@@hedda8649 thank you
Love your videos!! ^.^ you should do a diy fleece set :)
Can you make a video on how to make tunnels, cuddle sacs, and beds?
I'm not very good at making them :(
In the beginning how many inches did you sew in?
Is this equally as or more effective than using one layer of fleece with two or three layers of towels underneath?
Where do you get the uhaul absorbance
Can I use cotton fabric for the first layer (or cotton /polyester mixed fabric )? Cause I don't know where to purchase good design for polyester fleece. The cotton fabric has better design....
this video is very helpful.. how much did all of the supplies cost to make one
Not including the actual sewing machine, under$20. Joanns always has coupons!
Nice!! Thanks 😃
The only thing I see on the uhaul website in the your blanket that covers the fridge is that the one?
I think there just the furniture pads from uhaul
can you put these in the washer and dryer machine??
+Brian Mitchell yes I have a video of how to wash them.
which material do you use for the assorbent layer? A protect mattress can be right?
Uhaul, and yes I believe so.
Hello, this is an old video, so I hope I get a reply. How long do these last? I've seen people use towels in their fleece liners for years, but I heard towels smell more. Do U-Haul pads get worn out after a certain amount of time?
yeah they wear out but only after like 5 years sooo
I've only tossed out two of mine that I made when I first got my pigs; but that's because I didn't like the quality of them. I would say if you're washing regularly, maybe 5+ years!
hey um i dont get how you did the fleece thing so the middle one is facing down so the fluff is facing the uhaul and then the top one as well or how like the way you said "right side up but i dont even know what side is which
What sewing machine do you use?
Very helpfull but i can't get uhaul. Are there any alternatives for the absorbent layer?
Towels? Not sure :(
do you throw these out once they've peed on it? For the smell and all? I'm guessing that you made multiple of these so you can rotate? I'm getting a guinea pig and not sure what I should use for the bottom that is absorbent and doesnt smell a lot.
I sweep them once a day, and every 3-5 days I switch them out. I posted a new video a few weeks ago showing how I was my fleece liners. (:
How do you stop the animals from going under it?
I would put something heavy on the corners, perhaps.
what other materials could i use for the absorbent material?
2 old towels
OMG thank you so much I really needed this
Would a blanket with some newspaper and pee pads underneath be a good alternative until we get a cage liner for my pigs ??
I wouldn't use newspaper because it could be toxic, maybe use towels.
Does it shrinks when you wash and dry?
Yes, that's why I suggest making it a few inches larger.
Can I put only these pads on the bottom of the cage without putting anything above or under( In some videos I saw that someone put towels or other things under de bottom of the cage). Does these pads create any smell when using it alone ?
It'll probably smell after a week, so you can wash it. Also, you probably don't need anything under it because it's waterproof.
And also, can i make them without the absorbent material? Like so its a pretty fleece bedding
I wouldn't reccomend not putting the absorbent material, unless you put the absorbent material underneath the liners. Otherwise it won't absorb correctly.
Omigosh!! I literally love you!! =')) Where do you get the uhaul??? xx
Local Uhaul store, it's called "recycled denim furniture pads" I believe.
(:
Thanks so much! Only I live in the UK... XD
Taylor ... I did'nt know they were furniture pads =( I thought you could buy them on Ebay or something... =(
No need to be mean, she was just asking (:
Do you cut the material the actual size of the age or an extra inch on all sides?
+Nia Bass I add about 2-3 inches.
To the length and the width?
+Nia Bass yes
So besides of buying bedding this replaces that and do you have to wash it and can u wash it??
Yes, you wash cage liners after 3-5 days. I have a how to wash fleece liners video on my channel.
What absorb material did you use? And where did you get it from?
Uhaul furniture pads, from my local uhaul store. I use two usually.
ThAnks
Wow that's so easy thank u
can you just put a layer of fleece then the uhaul then a layer of fleece and sew it like that?
+smashing 40z you can, but then you wouldn't be able to flip it inside out (the edges won't be finished) and your piggies may chew the edges.
+smashing 40z The haul needs to be in the middle or else it cannot be flipped inside out.
uhaul i cant find this material any were is sam thing a us i can use plz help
You can find Uhaul at a local Uhaul store (:
no eny were i Drive and 1 to find it in fabric store and nothing is any ting i can use difren ?
They don't sell Uhaul at a fabric store, you go to "uhaul.com" to find a location and go in and ask for "recycled furniture pads".
Where did you find your U-Haul fabric?
Can you do a video on morning routine
I'm working on it! (:
could I also use the for a hamster or no??
No, hamsters are excellent climbers/escapists.
Hi what water proof material do you use x
Uhaul
Hey we're do you get uhaul and can I use lots and lots of towel instead of uhaul please answer
+Rabbits 101 you get uhaul here -> www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Protective-stuff/Furniture-Pad?id=2670 you can use towels instead, but they don't work as well. I used to use them but they started smelling much quicker. hope this helps! :)
+Rabbits 101 I get my Uhaul from Uhaul. I would not suggest using a towel because it is not as absorbent as Uhaul.
you could probably do a blind stitch to close it so the finished product looks neater.
Blind stitches are a little complicated for a level 1 Sewist like me :p (sewer, sewsit? lol)
Do we need to wash the u-haul pads before using?
Nope!
Where did you find the UHaul
My local uhaul store.

What size needle do you use when you make these? Is there a certain type of thread you use also? I'm having trouble making mine at the moment. :(
Try a denim needle! It really helps!
+Alexandria's Animals I did, but it's still not working :(
I only used 3 layers now; two fleece and one uhaul, and it seems to work fine for me.
Thank you so much 😊
Can i use cage liners for rabbits? If so can they be used outside? Please help!
I wouldn't recommend putting your rabbit outside.
