Florida State's first game in the Opener of 1999 was Louisiana Tech a replacement for the Auburn Tigers paid $500,000 to cancelled the series in February 1999.
Pat Dye had a Home and Home schedule with FSU in the early 1990's then broke the contract
For quite a few years back in the late 80s through the early 2000s the M oles had a chance to be National Champions every year.

WOWWWW!!!!Those were the days. We were teenagers then. We used to huddle around our old-at-that-time tube TV, watch the games, turn down the TV volume, and turn on the radio to hear Gene Deckerhoff and P.T. commentate. Gives me chills to hear him again. Bobby Bowden was, and remains, such a great hero for all of us. Thankful that I once got to meet him in person, shake his hand, and thank him for his contribution of great wins, so much charity work, and gentlemanly, Christian character that he made to so many thousands people. Long live his memory and God bless Ms. Ann and their family.
As a Clemson fan I have a lot of respect for Bobby Bowden, hes one the best coaches ever. they beat us badly through out 90's, but I'm looking forward to Dabo Swinney returning the favor and my Tigers beating them badly many more times before Dabo moves on. Get used to it. The Clemson Tigers will be around for awhile dominating the ACC.

Those were the days... The day of the FSU/Virginia Tech Sugar bowl was the day I first moved out of my parents. We made it to Orlando, got the truck unpacked and I made my roommates watch the game. Neither of which were football fans but at least one of them became a football fan after that game. He later went on to marry a UF fan... So there were some upsides and some downsides. It was still an amazing game though. Also, Janikowkski has to be one of the best players FSU ever had. He was the only kicker that could take out the return man. He was an absolute monster and probably would've been a great DB but he was instead an amazing kicker.
I don't know about DB more like Linebacker lol

Eh Florida and Nebraska were too good for that to have happened. I’d say we probably shoulda won it in 98 but in 97 Florida pretty much tried to give us the game but they still beat us 😑
