Thanks for watching, and DFTBA!
Today I'm testing what happens when you put crayons in a hot glue gun! Are there any other craft hacks you want me to test for you guys?
Karen Kavett They have a Crayon Project where they collect old crayons for a children's charity and the melt them and make really cute heart shapes with molds...kind of like your pineapples. 😊😉😁
Karen Kavett hi i subbed love you
Karen Kavett Where do you get coloured hot glue sticks
Can you try making slime?
Great video. I totally enjoyed this one. Do you have tips on how to make the strings that they use as bookmarks?
Who else is scrolling down....but.......keep on watching....

I made a coloured glue stick but it took a lot of work but here's how to do it: take a mold making clay and add the glue stick in the clay to create a mold, let it dry then take it out, after take the glue stick and pipe the glue in the mold, work fast and melt an already peeled crayon, I recommend having the crayon already melt in the microwave while you pipe the hot glue. Then add a little bit of the melted crayon to the glue from the glue gun which you put in the mold before it dries and mix it with whatever you have, then let it dry. Take it out of the mold and there you have it a coloured glue stick!
That is a lot of work! Thanks for sharing though, in case anyone wants to try it!
TheUsefulUnicorn I don't understand
Karen Kavett I'm can you give me a shout out please I love you so so so much
TheUsefulUnicorn wow
Time For Jamila Woooooow... you're seeking for attention huh
Craft idea...use black glue sticks to outline a picture and then take the melted crayons to fill in each smaller space, kinda like a faux stained glass with glue and crayons
bethany simmons thats a great idea!
bethany simmons that is like super smart and would be really cool to see
bethany simmons brilliant!
bethany simmons that's so smart
bethany simmons I was thinking the same thing! Yes!
I've used crayons to mix with clear glue when I didn't have the color I needed. Instead of loading it in like normal you can either stir the crayon straight into the hot glue and mix, or touch the crayon to the metal tip of your glue gun while you're gluing. The color mixes well with the glue and its more stable since its mixed with glue. I don't know if this was helpful, this is how I do it.
I'd like to see your result...I have a glue pen, for writing with glue, although, glues made for this device seem purely decorative, that is, the glue doesn't stick....so u say if I make a 50/50, glue, crayon stick, it does ok for writing? OR, just drops , drips, molds etc.
Ty!
Thanks for the tip!! 👍
Would be interesting to gave a gluenstick sized mold amd melt both at the same timeninto a mold and see if it will mix to try to make colored glue sticks.
I tried this, and it was so messy. The crayon melted in the hot glue, then it congealed. I tried mixing it and spreading it with a toothpick. My work surfaces got really gritty.
@@sheekaloca You should melt the whole thing with a hair dryer or heat gun, and the wax + glue will have blended together.
Its a hot mess.
literally though
Karen Kavett.. LOL..OF COURSE
Karen Kavett i love you
ALL NIGHTER no
ALL NIGHTER
Idc if I'm lesbian you're my soulmate
Have you heard of the CrayPen? It has a hot end that you dip in a "wax puck". The end melts the wax and it wicks up into the end. Then you put the end over your surface and can use it similar to a fountain pen, with the wax coming out slowly like ink. It takes some practice get a good technique, but it's really interesting to try out. I spent an evening making my own wax pucks by melting down crayons on burners I made out of pop cans. That part was fun too.
I'm an elementary teacher and had a lot of leftover partially used crayons this year that would've broken my heart to throw away. I thought maybe I could try painting with melted crayons and it would dry with an interesting, textured look. Nope. Sat for hours with crayons melting in paper cups placed inside a takoyaki maker and nothing turned out as I hoped. Much like what you experienced, I ended up with an oily mess that didn't spread well with a paint brush. Oh, but the melted wax *does* adhere to canvas. So unlike your paper attempt, I couldn't peel off the crayon to even salvage the canvas. Total fail.
Try adding baking soda or salt.
I've never put them through my glue gun, because I was worried about clogs and ruining the glue gun. I've always just held them to the tip of the gun, and let them melt. If timed right you can get a nice mix of glue and wax and a pretty cool result
When melted crayon art was all the craze a couple years ago, I covered a canvas in melted crayon. I think my glue gun was a lower temp than yours bc it came out a little more viscous. I also unscrewed the two halves of the gun and took out the trigger mechanism so Crayolas could fit through, just had to use another crayon to push each one through. also, my gun caught fire twice, so please please be careful. don't do what I did lol. the canvas did turn out pretty good though
Oh man, think of all the views I could have gotten if my hot glue gun had caught on fire 😲 Thanks for sharing your experience with this!
I like how you are giving tips and then you are just like oh, it also caught in fire. Twice.
+Isidora Espinoza (ChibiJuanella) kmsl
I have had 3 glue guns explode in my hand when using crayons in them. Just be careful!
Did you use a regular sized glue gun or the smaller one? My daughter wants to make a crayon canvas but I can't decide what glue gun to buy online and I don't want to shave the crayons down :/
Thanks for your help 😊
Back in the 60's and 70's we used to melt crayon bits or gratings into our jeans with an iron. It would probably work on a wide variety of medium to heavy weight fabrics. It's very durable so long as you don't dry in the dryer on high heat when washing. If you try this do use wax or parchment paper or foil in between the wax and the iron to keep the iron from being ruined.
I’ve made candles w melted crayons - but your glue gun and your little molds with a wick set in looks like a pretty easy way to go! I may just have to try it
the real question is can u put a glue gun in a crayon
yEs
Its a boy
Yes, melt a bunch of crayons in a mold then stick a hot glue gun in it so once it cools down the bam glue gun in crayon
Ha ha ha........i dont get it
Your question itself is a wrong one then how can you even ask it dude??!😂. You must ask it like "can you put a crayon in a glue gun"
You can make stamp seals!!!
Tori Ross so true good idea 👌
I actually tried with my hot glue gun (Mid temp) and same thing.. but it overflowed and I had to combine the glue stick and crayon.
Mr Sanjay?.... Send a link to prove it’s from 5 min crafts, If that’s not what you meant, Please explain
Just heating the wax in a pot seems more efficient
Also, ive gotten a multicolor set of sharpies and literally colored all over the glue stick and then put it in the hot glue gun and it actually worked well!! i did like black, blue, green, purple, and pink and it turned out really cool!
I took the left over or broken small remaining pieces of one same coloured crayon pieces together. Melted them and poured them in to a silicone mould.
We got a brand new large crayon of same colour... That kids could use.
Me and my sister used to melt down crayons through our glue gun and make fun shape crayons with candy molds! One of my favorite memories is watching scary movies and making such crafts :)
So fun!
dfsgirl
That's so sweet! I remember, one time I was with my youngest sister, and we were playing art studio outside. We went up to mommy and said (well I call her mom now but we said) "Mommy! Can we melt these crayons in the oven?" And she said "Hell no!" And we just left them on the hot sidewalk. After a week, they melted..... Slightly.
But how do u clean the gun
so sweet 😁😁
This is such a great idea. Teachers can use the crayons to make crafts. I love how you can see the colors mixing as you go along.
I tried this before years ago. It totally turned out awesome!!
HEADLINE: Wax Melts!!!
SilentS ............ Oh!!!!! I never knew that!!! We need to tell the public IMIIDIATLY!!!!! ( I know I spelled that wrong don't roast me!!!)
Also, FIRE BURNS! AND WATER IS WET!

Great experiment. I really like the results using crayons in the silicone mold. Thanks for your research!
Harry Potter fans know exactly where this is heading.
Where?
Haha Lol!
I don’t ✨understand✨
Ronnie Rodriguez I know what you mean, the first second I saw this I realize what you could do
I was going to use red to make a diy hogwarts letter and use the melted crayon as wax 🖍
I've done this before. You have to be careful, because the wax is liquid and if you set or move your glue gun at an angle instead of having the nozzle and the back of the glue gun pointed down you get liquid wax all over your hands. Because it pours out the back. It is not a pleasant experience.
You can use this, but a bit differently, the only problem is that its a bit transparent.
So here's what you do, make a fun shape where you would use colored glue, and while its still hot, use crayons shavings to color the glue, I've tried this once before and it worked fine, it just takes awhile.
Melting the crayons in the glue works as a decent alternative to colored glue sticks.
Soooo helpful! Once I tried that, there was a glue stick stuck in my hot glue gun, so I put a crayon in there to see if it could color it, when all the glue was out, I pushed the trigger, and hot crayon squirted everywhere! Next time you try this, please be cautioned!
The age old question is...
Will it taco?
Gmm!
LoL
Lol
Yassssssssssssssssssssssssss😄😄😄😄😄😄!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tree Nut gmm reference
I did this with a Crayola crayon and at first it worked like hot glue but then it started backfiring and coming out the back, the crayon got stuck, and the glue gun was ruined. We searched it up, and it turns out that some people have had serious burns from this, so please for your safety DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUT A CRAYON IN A GLUE GUN
Might work better on a lower temperature.
Yep. I looked up the wax melt point it does seem yours was obviously wayyy to hot. But still cool 👍👍
OR, plug the gun into a dimmer, turn down the power to get a lower temperature. The guns use a bimetallic device that trips off at a set temperature and on when temp lowers. You might hear it click on and off if the room is quiet. If we use a dimmer, it may never come up to the high temperature required for glue stix, but might work for wax.
When I tried this, my hot glue gun had started making burning noises and I thought it would catch on fire. Eventually it had burned out and stopped working. I don't know how they make it work on UA-cam.
you can use the Crayons as the wax for molds after you make your mode then you can put sand around it for clay then milk out the Crayons with an oven and pour your hot metal into the mold you can also make a solid brick out of the crayons and carve whatever you want it works very well
great idea of the molds! so cute!
Put the pieces of pencils in the silicone molds then in the oven. It is easier!
Four hours ago: I need to sleep, I have work in the morning. I'm going to be responsible.
Now: "Can you put crayons in a glue gun?"
Wait! What if you took hot glue sticks and crayons and melted them together and put them in a mold? Would that work like the pictures/ short vids of the crayons working like the hot glue?
Great idea! An alternative to putting the crayon in the glue gun is putting the tip of your glue gun ( when hot ) directly on the crayon. That way you still can melt the crayon.😄
Crafty Coutour yeah that’s what I’m going to do
What I do to make colour hot glue :)
first, Id use a mold of a glue stick made with amazing mold putty, and melt down a whole glue stick into it.
then I’d usually add some kind of colour, whether it’d be food colouring, glitter glue, shaved chalk pastels or pigments (like eyeshadow or legitimate pure pigments??) and i mix it all together and wait for it to dry :))
You can but, ITS HARD TO CLEAN THE GLUE GUN OUT AND I DIDNT CLEAN MINE YET
I feel like if you held the canvas tilted up and let the drops drip down instead of just splatter down on the flat canvas you could have achieved a really cool pattern that copies the idea of the melted crayon canvas project that you use the hair dryer for :)
If you just want drips you can touch the crayon to the hot tip of the hot glue gun to get some nice controlled drips and not get crayon all up in your glue gun :)
Shayla Fitzpatrick oh my goodness I wish I knew that before!! I did this and it kinda ruined my glue gun ( which I use to much 😐I have a problem)😂 every time I use my hot glue gun my glue turns sky blue 😂
Actually, yeah
omg you're a life saver, I was so worried about messing up my glue gun :sigh of relief:
Shayla Fitzpatrick n h
Shayla Fitzpatrick like a soldering iron I guess
Is that a high temp or low temp glue gun?
Thank you for the idea.Nice.
OK..... You showed us what wouldn't work.... THANK YOU!! Awesome to know.
Now... Show us what we are told wouldn't work but does!!
Tricky... Yes! But that's why YOU are the expert! 😁
I'd like to see how to save things you would normally throw out and rescued items from the trash! One man's trash is another person's treasure! Let's make some treasure together!!

Thanks for the info on crayons! Crayons have their uses, but not in hot glue guns! ✌💜
Can you try diy glue recipes? I'm always curious to know if any of them work...

“Turns our melted wax is liquid”
WELL NO DUH 😂
I put oil pastels in my hot glue gun and it broke , but for Christmas my friend got me a new one .
I did this all the time when I was a kid. Although I never thought of using this to make new shaped crayons :) that's really cool
That dramatic music at the beginning tho
Wrap the crayon in a piece of wax paper then a paper towel. Used an iron on high and with the wraps intact and a sheet of foil on the ironing board use the iron gently as you roll the crayon. Once the crayon starts to melt, tip it so it can drip out of the roll. I liked using the drippings on a piece of foil with a "stained glass" design. Once the crayons drip out enough to make them fit the glue gun you can stop and do so or, knowing now you have yet another craft to create!
I tried this a few years ago and the crayons splattered and burned me pretty bad. It's not worth it...
what if you mix the melted crayons with glue?
I use crayons to do my letter seals all the time (it's cheaper). But, Last time i did this, my crayon kept almost catching on fire! What? Why?
I've had sealing wax catch on fire, too!
66 years old and still learned something new. Thankyou
I used to take crayons and put them up to the top of the glue gun
Life is Great 👍🏽 so relatable
Like when you are making a special card for a person in your family you can use a cranyon sprinkle it on the tip of the tringle then u can have to wait till it drys then you have a specific card.
I never knew that there was colored glue sticks where can I buy some?
Amazon has them. Some with glitter.
@@clarissaramsey782 I also found glitter glue sticks @ Dollar Tree. They're colored glue sticks.
You can get very solid, plastic like crayons. I had real trouble melting these in the oven and they would make great glue sticks
Doesn't that effect the glue gun....???!!!
Anshu Kumar my glue gun actually exploded. like literallyy. those crayons turned liquid. its like adding water on your glue gun. and voila!!! boom
I am wondering what would happen if we used a glue stick melted down together with the waxed crayon, put into a mold (silicone, Amazing mold putty formed around a glue stick from a glue stick) and then what the end result would be. Hmmmm, it might make a really cool effect =)
This video caused several glue guns in my art class to break from people shoving crayons in them.... :/
Kitcat LPSgirl that sucks
😂Geee
I don't think I will ever do this, but I love the way you talk
"It turns out crayons comes out a liquid" what would it turn out like ?🤔
Anonymous 123 she meant like how liquidy it was compared to hot glue when it comes out
Anonymous 123 bruh same what did she think was gonna happen
Has she ever used a candle before?
Tyvm. I've been wondering if it would work, just hadn't gotten a sec to actually find out yet 😊
You're crazy!...In a good way!😂🤣🤗Tfs! 💕
Hey, Karen! Thanks so much for going through all this time, effort, and materials for us out here in UA-cam Land! Now I don't have to wonder about crayons anymore! I also liked your "conclusion wrap-up" at the end, too. Nice job!
melt down the crayons and mix it with the melted glue sticks and mold a stick out of them and it will thicken the past and you get the colors. just to mess around put a sent in your past for instance put pineapple sent in your mold.
I shave crayons in school it's fun
The reason they run, when hot, is because they are made from paraffin, which is a refined by-product of the sludge after petroleum is made into gasoline and motor oil!
Carnauba wax, sets quickly, but I'm not sure if there are crayons made from it, except maybe, homemade crayons.
Can you please do more hot glue hacks
thos would work ridiculously well for batik projects!!!!!!! omg I'm in love!
cuz it's made of wax duh
Ricarda Harrison-Arden So are glue-sticks for hot glue guns.
No. It's because crayons are also made out of water.
WolfQuestLife :3 Most hot glue gun sticks are made out of GUM, thermoplastic, and other plastics that are wax-like in behaviour.
Also, lots of chemicals.
Keren kavett i love doing craft like you I just don't know where I can buy the colorful glue sticks please help you are doing a great job thanks
Try the art of loom knitting! I do loom knitting a lot and have made several blankets! It's much easier than knitting with needles and goes by very fast. I hope u read this and. Try it someday.
Thanks❤️❤️💖
Ayesha Faruqi blankets? Straight loom or round loom?
I still haven't got the hang of the loom, I have the round ones. Would straight be better to start off with?
Ayesha the Unicorn yes it is the best love all of the different looms want a sock 1 next
Kerri Wolfton watch UA-cam videos they help a bunch
Ayesha the Unicorn 🦄
I would love to know how to do socks.
I have painted fabric with melted crayons. Will you do any tutorials with that method?
it was so painful to watch you wasting all the glue !!
What? Ther's 50 mill glue in the world boii
As a note. There are hot glue guns that use larger diameter glue sticks so you could find one that can house the crayons..
"You can make a splatter pattern, but that's about it!"
That's good enough for me!!! Jackson Pollock RULES!!! I'm a dweeb.
mochiko
*lmao😅*
I love how Jackson Pollock makes his art so unique!!!😄🙂💗
The crayola crayons are really really popular. I had seen many videos in which crayons are used and most of them approx 95% used these crayons. I will try these out.
I know that I sound crazy, but if u had to could u use a straw as a substitute?
The Mexxie Show no, the plastic will release carcinogens (which are chemicals that cause cancer) so I wouldn't recommend it
K Oloane 😂😂do you want her
to die?
The Mexxie Show i told she to do this
Your mean stupied
I'm sorry
Hint diaso has Dollar fifty lower temp glue guns... and off brand crayons (as well as white, black, brown and glow in the dark glue sticks)
Crayon Wax is Flamable becareful!!!
Try add some glue
hi how are you i love your videos i like and subscribe
Put the glue gun on a light dimmer to lower the heat the glue gun puts out. You might get a temp that works.
What I did as a child was that I would put normal clear glue into my hot glue gun and then take a crayon and put it on the outside and it would mix with the glue to make colored hot glue.
Hotaru Geisho can you explain a bit better? I'm curious about this method
Well I don't know if this method works really well, but I would heat up my hot glue gun and smudge the crayon around the outside of it so the wax would be melted inside the hot glue when it came out of the gun. It gave out a weird smell so I wouldn't recommend it, but when the hot glue dried it stayed the same color as the crayon that I had melted on the outside of the glue gun.
Hotaru Geisho I might try it
Ok, but be careful and have a ventilated area.
it is will work if you mix glue sticks and crayons and melt them together then put them in a glue stick size tube to form it like glue gun stick again it will be a colored glue gun stick
thats awesome! love the experiment
Thank you so much!
kasey hulton it is really cool
Karen Kavett i s s o nice
I love the mold idea. I have a gun that used oval sticks, and I don't think the make them any more. So I could use crayons. THANKS
I think your way of melting the crayons would be easier and less mess than with an oven.
Nope oven is so much easier and no mess. You literally just break the crayons into small enough chunks to sit in the mould and put the mould in the oven. Then take i out and let cool. That's it. It comes out exactly the way Karen's pineapples did without having to sit there and wait for them to move through a glue gun.
imstuman. Yes
... I made heart shape moulds
I collected all one coloured small pieces of crayons and melted them. And poured them in silicone moulds..
We got a brand new crayon that could be ready used.
Maybe, get a dye, heat up your glue sticks pour dye in, then make your own size gle sticks by remoulding, alot of effort but may work.?
superb
Of course you can, I did this 4 years ago and it worked pretty well. The only hard part was removing the paper because it took forever! I didn't have the problems you had though which is strange, my crayons were still thick like hot glue but your glue gun must get way hotter than mine.
Such a cool experiment!
Books under Starlight i agree
Books under Starlight
Ikr XDDD
If you cut a small slice in the glue stick and replaced that area with a slice of crayon, would it melt into colored glue?
The way you say crayons is ridiculous lol
i hate the way she talks 😂
Just add dye or mix canyons and the hot glue to make the cooled hot glue
#notworthit
Bec Elene #worthit I made a newer looking color by using it
Bec Elene thanks for the update 😂
Your face is not worth it!!
Yo mama not worth it😂😂😂😂😂!!!!!
Roberto Gaytan yo mama didn't teach you to read the whole damn conversation before commenting
This is so amazing u are so creative 🤗🤗
i wonder if marker shavings can go in a hot glue gun.
how do you shave a marker? do you mean pencil shavings?
you just would cut it with your craft knife
DIYS FOREVER I feel like it might just burn
maybe it could burn 🔥
DIYS FOREVER what r marker shavings
Karen Kavett DIY - Try using a Multi-Temp Hot Glue gun that has High/Low Temp settings, the result may not be as liquidy as a standard Hot Glue gun. I own a multi-temp hot glue gun and the glue still melts, but it sets a good bit faster than a high temp setting.
I guess your Amazon links are affiliate links? Would be nice, if you mentioned that somewhere. Just a though. :) Cool experiment, btw!
Thanks for the tip. I've been wondering the same thing myself for a while. By the way, where do you get your colored grew six?
