- Guitarist/songwriter Blake Mills performs a song from his debut record, Break Mirrors.
While Mills and Jesca Hoop were passing through Seattle we had them stop in and play a few. We've been holding onto this one for some time, and hope you enjoy it.

Mills is a genius. Such a great musician. One if my favs for sure
I notice peeps focus soo much on his guitar playing when his lyrics writing is just top notch, this dudes lyrics are unbelievably real and genuine expressions of being. Just I’m staggeringly beautiful
Brilliant musician and masterpiece of a song!!!
He's so good it's obscene! Incredible.
I keep coming back to this again and again and again. Love it
Man I love this video
I love you man!!!
The chords are easy to get down. The right hand part is where it gets tricky with this song. He starts out alternating between C# and from what I believe is C#+7 then slide one up to D, then it's F#m and the chorous is A and D. Good luck!
Whew, this song is something else.
The version of this song where it's raining outside in the video and he's in a house, I have to say is so so incredibly good.
Link please kind sir.

completely forgot where i was and what day it is...the dude can play
I really admire this cat and his comments and riffs on Vice exploring eastern tonal variations on his bloody friggin TELE'. Awesome.
i love seeing him getting into it at one point :D
Eric Clapton really likes this guy. Probably reminds him of JJ Cale. I like this because it is straight up and minimal. Been a musician all my life, 20 years as a pro, Used to love all the gear, now, not so much. Enjoy seeing players get the most out of the least amount of gizmos. Go Blake!
+Instramark All Repect RIP JJ Cale
Man, 5 fret stretch! Wow!
I've been trying to learn this song, but his pinky is longer than my middle finger....
I think that is a small size guitar, like a Stella or Parlor.
Yeah, it looks like it.
But that moving bass though, it hurts like hell and it's hard not to mute the high strings since my pinky is so short.
4 frets, absolutely doable. This is a regular Gibson L-00, 24.75" scale I think.
Starturds was playing one of your songs the other day Blake so you must be on your way!
Very good
I want to live in that room...
I just stumbled upon something rare... Blake Mills
Nice.
Carsten Wendler He hinted on Twitter that what happens to the C# isn't a 7th chord! I don't know what it is but ever since he said that it's driving me crazy
pretty sure it is a C#aug7 (C#-F-A-B-F) then to the C# (hammer-on B to C#)
Hope this helps
GOOD SONG BLAKE... CARLOS GUITARLOS
I just wanna pack up and run:-))
can anyone please make a tab? this is awesome!
jj cale spirit !!
I think I use to own that Teisco amp.
anyone know the exact model on that gibson? L-00? It has an interesting saddle. Sounds beautiful.
No idea, look also at the keystone gold tuners. It might be some kind of L-00 reissue.
Some needs to put a guitar tutorial of this song
Dylan Rieder brings me here.
He looks like Dax Flame.
can you say "GUITAR LESSON" thanks blake i want to learn this real bad :)
tabs?
Jaw, floor
Looks like a Gibson LG-2 and got some chops, very nice.
+SiggyMe Must be a repro? I have an LG-2 from 49 and it's got a diff body shape, bridge, etc.
+Gibson Blues You are right the bridge was a giveaway, not a typical Gibson. It might be a rebuilt or salvaged Gibson with a new bridge and refinished. It might even be a one off custom by Gibson. Blake or someone at Fretboard Journal probably could clarify this. it might be hand-off to him from the collection of guitars around there. ....just saying.
SiggyMe Yeah. Either way it's a damn good looking (and sounding) guitar.
Looks like Gibson L00 to me maybe 1930 or repro, I had a 45 LG-2 looks way different.
It's a recent Gibson L-00.
Fucking incredible! Ugh.
Thought you might need some help with your german - see publisher name. Happy birthday Donal xx
I have small hands and this song is a bitch
+Christian Alcala i have big hands and all his songs are a bitch to learn. i gave up on learning and i just listen to Blake, i'd never do his songs justice anyway hahahah
Heard him on another you tube piece and he was a lot better, so fair play..
There is nothing missing from this performance, other than a good ear to hear it.

You, on the other hand, have resorted to being a twat. Please read other comments.
