    Do you have to use 15 ?

    • @alexamarthadesigns

      Hi there Robert, yes, for this model you start with sz 11/O and then finish with sz 15/O. I use sz 12 needle that allows you to go through the beads at least 3 and if you careful 4 times. If you are a beginner, this might not be the easiest project to start with. Either way, have fun whether you do it for fun or as a profession. Hope I answered your question :)

      I am sorry I just saw your question, the stone I used is a Blue Crazy Lace Agate. Again I am sorry for the late reply. :)

    No sorry I don't have any video about how I added the edging enfringement. These things just happen, I try out new things all the time, I just stitched through a middle bead of the bezel on the out side took up some beads a crystal and more beads and and then i went with my needle and the beads through the next bead on the outside of the bezel. You just have to use you imagination and try out different things. Good Luck!!! And have fun!

    I use to has the same issue.........they are really thin and they are easely to break.....they are not cheap either. my advise and what helps me is keep in mind you have to go though these tiny beads at least twice if not three times....so I use max 10 lb strength thread. Just go easy with it and most of all have fun. if you get frustrated put it down for a while and come back to it later.

    Thank you very much.. The earrings I made using the reversible bezel turned out beautiful. I am going to do a lot of this. I have attached a felt backing to my penchants and peyote stitched a bezel and I would love to view the video that show how to add edging or enfringement. Do you have any?

    Very important, I know most of us do not read the description unless were looking for something specific, so I am posting my new website here www.lexibutlerdesigns.com ( beadedjewels.biz does not exist anymore).

    Oops... If I could figure out how! My biggest problem is needles. I seem to destroy the eyes of every needle I use. Some projects go through several needles. Do you have this issue?

  • @alexamarthadesigns
    @alexamarthadesigns  12 років тому

    I hate that when beads break especially in the endstate. of a time consuming projectI found out that when you have your thread waxed good and you take a flat nose pliers and gently with a tiny bit of pressure pull the thread end through the pliers to flatten it. Then you can even get the thread through a size 13 needle which lets you go through the tiny sz 15 and even charlottes. Hope that helps! I really admire you on the amount of patience you have I have three teens and next to none......:)

    I had this problem in the beginning as well. I noticed that especially when I used long needled. They bend easy, but you can bend them back straight with two flatnose pliers. I have a little trick that helps me to get the fireline thread through the eye of the needle withought to destroy the needle. You first wax your whole threat then you take your flat nose pliers and pinch first 1/2 in and pull it through the pliers. Once you have to figure it out how much pressure you need it will go easy.

    I use 10 lb fire line. Makes threading tiny needles even harder. Frustration is not my problem; the beads breaking and the needle eye flattening is. I have far too much patience for any one person lol but that does not stop the beads from braking and eyes flattening after multiple passes.

    Lol thanks for your advice. I have utilized all your tricks for years but no matter what I still destroy my needles. Threading is a skill that takes practice and one I have mastered but I still favor fire line over waxed threads. I like the synthetic wax Thread Heaven. Have you tried any of the newer braided waxed line like Spiderline? Zebco even put out a braided line. They have excellent strength but do have their cons. Also, less costly.

    I know what you mean I am a beading addict as well! I am glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for the compliment on my designs. I found out with this technique as with all things ....Practice makes perfect. If you have poblems putting colours together, try a colour wheel and you will be amaised. That was my my problem at first....the mixing of colours. let me know if I can help in any way...happy beading!

    You know I thought the same thing, just try it and if you don't succeed at first try again. Start with something small. Make sure you have an even count of beads on you first row around the stone or crystal your going to bezzel.

    Hi Debra, yes you can! You just need to measure around the button with sz 11 peyote Delicas or Toho Tube Beads in an even count. Then you continue as in the tutorial. :)

    I was wondering if you can do this around a old shell button ? Then I don't need to use a backing for a pendant ?

      Hi Kathleen, Thank you for your comment. This video was made almost 8 years ago. It was made for the desktop. I did not even think about compatibility for smartphones. Also, this was one of the first videos I made. This is not really a video you should watch from on your phone anyway, because of it complexity. Hope that helps!
