Though I don't mind Yasuke being a full-on Samurai in this game, albeit, I do prefer to only have assassin leads in Assassin's Creed, I realize that we are in a loop. Making it impossible to have a non-Euro-descent/non-male lead in a video game WITHOUT the studios handling them with little to no care, discombobulation, confusion, promoting stereotypes, relying on European and East Asian cultures as if they are the only cultures with story potential. We need a major, caring shift, even in indie games.
Hearing this, shows the reason whenever a story like this arises, I make sure I read a number of sources to get all the facts, not a defined narrative skewing the story!
Even as an Afro-descent guy who's grown up on video games since the early-2000s (technically, late-1990s playing Mortal Kombat 4 with cousins, barely knew what to do 😆), all this diversity and inclusion and representation talk for non-Euro-descent, let alone non-EAST Asian is understandable as making human leads for American video games as the first you play in that universe should be almost like raffle ticket picks, I realize that we should include anthropomorphic animal diversity. Grew up on Sly Cooper, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Sonic, Blinx in a demo, Rayman (if he counts?). I know others enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie, Star Fox, Croc and the Legend of Gobbos. I almost played Biomutant, but nobody talks in that game, environment looked bland. Why stop making new anthropomorphic animal leads in video games? Preferably, 3rd-person, and non-Shooter, I know 'Mouse' is new but does exactly what keeps me away. I want new guys and gals for us and younger generations to enjoy in such a different way than playing some human. 'Black Myth: Wukong' comes close, looking to play. But it shouldn't be alone. The thing with their claims of death threats, they could easily fake them if they wanted to. The real test is, where are all the arrests? Y'know, nobody had a problem with Sam Jackson as Afro Samurai because it was cool, over the top and didn't bother be realistic.
AC always tried to have a foothold in real history with figures like Ben Franklin and George Washington...but now they're inflating a retainer into a samurai, and making the huge point he was black.
We can see ALL the Current Year reasons why...that's why they hate us!

Almost every single woke game like Concord, Dustborn, Flintlock, SSKTJL, Saints Woke reboot, and many others were financial disasters and commercial FLOPS. Hell, Saints Row reboot was such a flop, that it caused its studio Volition to go bankrupt and shut down back in Sept of 2023 (exactly a year ago). And if thats not enough, the devs of Concord literally took Concord offline a few days ago on Sept 6th due to abysmal player numbers. Same with Dustborn, its all time player peak numbers was literally 83 people, not 8300, not 83,000 not 830,000, but literally 83 people.
Dont believe me? Then google it yourself. Numbers dont lie. Sales numbers dont lie. And studio closures (like Volition) dont lie. Wokeness simply doesn't sell, because if it did then all those games I mentioned above would've been a runaway success, but they're NOT.
As I said, facts dont care about your feelings. Dont like it? Then cry about it........
What is even more concerning is that, this gaming crusade of their own is a consequence of that disease that so many ppl ingurgitated without even questionning it, knowing the roots of it, what it is about, what it is leading to, etc..

Though I don't mind Yasuke being a full-on Samurai in this game, albeit, I do prefer to only have assassin leads in Assassin's Creed, I realize that we are in a loop. Making it impossible to have a non-Euro-descent/non-male lead in a video game WITHOUT the studios handling them with little to no care, discombobulation, confusion, promoting stereotypes, relying on European and East Asian cultures as if they are the only cultures with story potential. We need a major, caring shift, even in indie games.
Hearing this, shows the reason whenever a story like this arises, I make sure I read a number of sources to get all the facts, not a defined narrative skewing the story!

Even as an Afro-descent guy who's grown up on video games since the early-2000s (technically, late-1990s playing Mortal Kombat 4 with cousins, barely knew what to do 😆), all this diversity and inclusion and representation talk for non-Euro-descent, let alone non-EAST Asian is understandable as making human leads for American video games as the first you play in that universe should be almost like raffle ticket picks, I realize that we should include anthropomorphic animal diversity.
Grew up on Sly Cooper, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Sonic, Blinx in a demo, Rayman (if he counts?). I know others enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie, Star Fox, Croc and the Legend of Gobbos. I almost played Biomutant, but nobody talks in that game, environment looked bland.
Why stop making new anthropomorphic animal leads in video games? Preferably, 3rd-person, and non-Shooter, I know 'Mouse' is new but does exactly what keeps me away. I want new guys and gals for us and younger generations to enjoy in such a different way than playing some human. 'Black Myth: Wukong' comes close, looking to play. But it shouldn't be alone. Even if we gotta have unique or realistic graphics, humanoid modern animal warriors vs humanoid prehistoric animal warriors wanting to take the Earth back. Gimme some mo'!

The thing with their claims of death threats, they could easily fake them if they wanted to. The real test is, where are all the arrests? It would be extremely easy for the police to track down and arrest people for making death threats, but we never see or hear anything like that. If we asked, they would claim they were taking the higher ground by not reporting them, but we all know they are lying so they can play the victim. It is so predictable it is almost like they have a playbook and they follow it line by line.

They should live stream the shareholders meeting and monetize it with ads when they explain the rationale to the shareholders of how attacking your perspective customer has ever worked to make another company more successful. For those wondering how these companies can be so stupid, think on this. I am a retired contract project/business manager who carried out work for many blue chip companies at the highest levels and I was amazed at just how stupid many of their directors and senior managers were. Many just could not see the problem or even the huge light that showed the way out of the tunnel.
