- Hammy and Olivia, social media's "talking" corgis, are itchy! They're experiencing hot spots, paw licking, biting and redness. Is it allergies? We ordered food and environmental intolerance tests from 5Strands to get to the bottom of this.

My first dog had so many allergies/intolerances we had to get him the most expensive dog food because he couldn’t have dairy certain fruits and veggies nuts and a lot more
Dogs don't need any fruit or veggies. They are no different to wolves and all they need are meat, bone and organ. And not cooked.
That is a Lot of allergies for a dog
A dietary change can make all the difference!

I hope Hammy and Olivia can stop with the itchies! When my Cindy was alive she could only eat lamb and white fish. She was a registered Pekingese and her vet said more of her purebreds had allergies..especially the “littles.”

Have you guys moved to DC yet? I grew up in this area and watching friends move here and what doctors have said, if you have never had allergies before, the dc area will awaken them! Idk what it is about this area, but many of my friends have developed allergies when they moved here.
Edit: i know this is all on intolerances, but just an FYI if yall start feeling miserable here 😅

I shared to my FB and send this to my daughter, who has a lil shitzu super scratchy and itchy all the time. she is constantly on medication and they just said at the veterinarians it was chicken.??? she’s going to try it. I guess it's good that you know what bug them makes them itchy, my one dog when I was a kid had intolerant to people food she can have a little bit but if she had too much she was very sick.

Our vet provides a shot in two parts over a six week period.
In our case its fungus in the grass. That white on grass where water doesnt drain is the fungas.
Chicken and levels of crude fat is another issue, but the pancrease reaction can cause itching.

This is NOT a commercial for Pet Lab Co. However I have given Jet,Gigi and their daughter Amber the chews 4-5 times a week and red tear streaks are eliminated.

My dog had Red tear streaks too. We went to the vet and they went with a needle trough the eye into the nose channel. It was locked on both sides so the tears couldnt flow trough it to the nose. Now its all fine

Chris, thank you for this information. The vet wanted to just give her pills, but I just couldn’t do it. I started giving her supplements for dry skin and they helped, but she still has her spots where she chews on. Now I will try this test. She eats a pretty bland diet, but you never know. Thanks, I’m anxious to find out.
My dog is allergic to chicken his eyes get watery and red River:but I like the taste!
My corgi only gets itchy certain months of the year. When winter freeze happens the itch goes away.

There are a few things that we’ve given hammy regularly that he has level 3 intolerances to. We’re going to start cutting back on them and see if we notice a difference.

Gilbert itches like mad sometimes due to his flea and tick meds as well as his heartworm meds we put hydrocortisone cream on him and it helps

Allergies can also be environmental. People who move to Florida with their dogs often complain that their dogs never had allergies until they got here.

They aren’t allergy tests. That’s something I learned quickly. These are “intolerances” we all have intolerances to varying degrees which is what fascinates me about this. I’m still learning!

@@HammyandOliviaahhhhh. I just totally got it about the intolerances vs allergies. So, this isn't just a testing for furbabies, right?
@@teresahixson8716 we test for adults and children as well! We actually started in the gluten free industry a few years back when that was trending. We went to trade shows all around the US to help educate people that a gluten intolerance wasn't the issue for most people. We would help distinguish which grain was causing the microbiome disturbance. Sometimes though it was gluten or even the chemicals and preservatives used during the cultivation process of grains.

Most of the time it is the dander of the cat... but sometimes dogs can be intolerant to other dogs... makes for a weird family dinner when those results come back haha!
My girl has bad allergies. She gets an allergy shot evey month & it helps her.
More than likely this is an environmental exposure causing the reactions. It could be food based, but more than likely a traditional blood test would have isolated the protein issue. Our environmental intolerance test could help give you some direction on the fabric or type of grass causing the imbalance.

So level 3 to pork for Hammy..the farmer dog, my dog could not eat the pork blend either (I have an auggie)...maybe read the pork one because noticed level 3 on the some of the grains. Maybe skip the pork blend??
Yes! We only get turkey, beef and chicken from Farmers Dog

Not sure I want to know what *my* intolerances are. Everything your wife is intolerant to - the cheeses - are my favorite foods! Especially havarti.
