383 will be my future build on my 95 gmc 2500 8ft box. 6 inch lift. I use my truck more for the street and and highway travel. some off roading when I go fishing but a new paint job keeps me out of the sticks and branches. So stoked to see this video. Such a solid truck dude. Great build and great video. I replayed it like 7 times 👌👌👌😍
If you're going to spend at least $10K of a small-block you should build an LS style engine they make a lot more power. A LS3 7-liter will make 580 horse and at least 500 torque. A traditional 383 will never see that unless you put a blower on it. Just a stock 6.2 liter 376 inch makes more power than a 383. If you love the traditional style small blocks start with a quality block like a Dart, or Donovan w/ 4 bolt mains and when you do the machine work make sure it's a performance machine work, not the regular machine. With those aftermarket performance blocks you can easily clear a 4.000 stroke and create large bores such as 434 or 454.But again the LS engines really seem to be the choice, they are strong, light weight and make big power and have a solid market for after-market performance. Not so much LS1, LS2, LS6, but when you start getting into the specs on LS3, LS7 and LS9, um.... 600 horsepower is common.
andrew milks CornWallace is correct. That's how they used to do it back in the day. 350 block with the crankshaft out of a 400. Nowadays, guys just buy the kit that comes with the stroker crank in it. You are correct in going the other way. 400 block, 350 crank is a destroker.
riddler983 he is an isn't. His ways is more work. .. Using a 400block and 350 crank Standard bore 4.000 - 377 Thirty over 4.030 - 383 Sixty over 4.060 - 388 Can't just toss the crank in and you're good to go... Gotta clearance the block, and have the proper piston and rod setup...
Absolutely, I agree that it's way more work. My point was that back in the day guys didn't have the luxury of buying a stroker kit. They had to figure out how to make it work. There is still modifications you have to do even when buying a stroker crank, but I leave that part for my engine builder.
I know this is an old post but just curious what size tires/rims and lift was that? Sits perfect I think. Building an 86 k20 now and will be ready for lift and tires soon.
Hahaha really no way to tell if a 350 is a 383 stroker. A 383 stroker is created by swapping the 350 crankshaft for a 400 small block crankshaft that is ground down to fit into 350 journals. Unless you got x ray vision that can measure size you can find out by a glance lol.
The material from he head is cast from does not determine the power potential. Plenty of cast iron aftermarket heads that will flow with any aluminium head. Alot of aftermarket heads can be bought in aluminum or steel. I have a pair of CNCd 220cc Pro Action heads that flow 308cfm @.650 lift. They are steel. Engine makes just over 600hp.
You can make 400 to 420 HP with a set of modified cast iron Chevy Vortech heads. Modified as in being machined for better springs, oversized valves, port matching, and some porting for better flow.
Not all 383's are monsters. It's an engine. Was it built for craziness - aka very costly and not running 85 octane, or what it seems this guy got - run of the mill 383 with good hp and solid acceleration. And, I bet he can run 85 ethanol. peace

A 383 stroker is a 350 block with a 400 crank in it. It's the same block guys. longer stroke from the crank = STROKERRR
Nope a 383 is a 350 bored 30 making it a 355 with stroker rotating assembly making it a 383. A 400 with a 350 crank is a DESTROKED 377 :)

He didn't say a 400 with a 350 crank - he said a 350 with a 400 crank.
383 stroker is a great engine
Are you having breathing issues camera guy?
...love the Guacamole color scheme...and the missing front drive shaft...
The lady in the background is louder than the truck.
I know this is an old post but just curious what size tires/rims and lift was that? Sits perfect I think. Building an 86 k20 now and will be ready for lift and tires soon.
fuck I love these kind of trucks my dad had one when I was a kid but he sold it I wanted that truck so bad
does go off-road or just on roads like we seen let's see it on the mud
That's a beautiful truck
Sweet Truck! Sounds good for those highway gears :)
Sweet Truck man! What lift kit and tire set you got there?
Nice truck bro
Nice truck very nice the engine it's okay
that 383 is cammed right and how much hp and torque you throwing around in that
How much lift and what kind of tires?
are you in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area, I really like your videos!
Would you ever plan on selling it
how mutch hp and and big of a lift
Is it California legal for smog?
What kind of tires
daily driver, as he slams her shut lol
This Florida?
What are the rims on this called
jesus. great filming..
No front drive shaft
Hows it on gas
thomasmovesinc Bro if you build something like this, gas mileage is the last thing on your mind lol
any 1 hear the lady in the back
kurtis Louth yes lol
Nice shackle angle...
what kinda rims are those And how wide are they
Arthur Shortlidge Weld Scorpios. probably 12 inches wide. I have a set just like them
...front driveshaft fell out somewhere...
sick truck
is it for sale
Jeff Jones I was going to ask the same thing . Is it for sale ??
Damn dat bih pulling...
great truck!!
beautiful!
Super Fast RPM Rise Yes / Green Block No
Ground hawgs! Baby
My Headers rotted out with wrapp on em ;-(
Haha no front drive shaft and that's a regular 350 small block not a 383 stoker

That is a 383
that's a bad bitch
So badasss :D
Daily driver lol 😆 my what a bute!!
OK the trucks alright . But it's not that badass it still has cast heads. If it had aluminum it might have some reall power.

Idling way too high
Lovei to
that ain't no 383 bud... if it is it's the biggest turd 383 I've ever heard or seen run..
Not all 383's are monsters. It's an engine. Was it built for craziness - aka very costly and not running 85 octane, or what it seems this guy got - run of the mill 383 with good hp and solid acceleration. And, I bet he can run 85 ethanol. peace
WTF was ,....Uhmmm, did I miss a few-seconds? WTF did it do? go Home.
I don't like when people puts a lift kit on these trucks . and the front of the truck is higher than the back
Quentin Jones that's the way lifted trucks should be,about an inch or so higher in the front.
Not impressed, my 99 f350 7.3 crew cab longbed 4x4 will easily beat that truck.
Shut the fuck up Ford boy. 😡
@@leoygeal6175 eat 💩 princess
WEEEEAAAAKKKKK!!! Not impressed!
