I would recommend shadowing both specialities and asking those physicians what they like and dislike about their specialities. Ask why they decided to pursue their path. Advice I received as a med student when choosing a speciality was: "look at the day to day life, every specialty has exciting cases once in a while, but consider what your every day life would look like". There is always the option to do both - cardiac intensivist. 3 years cardiology fellowship followed by 1 year CCM fellowship. Everyone's path is unique so you have to make the best decision for you.
