I wanted to to stay home with my kids when they were little and my husband had a window washing business amd supported me and kids.
After my kids were in school, my husband encouraged me to go to college. My husband is 10 years older than me and after he retired I was working full time supporting him. He did housework and cooked for me. He does all the yard work. So we took turns supported each other. We have been married 43 years happily.

Seeing you sitting down with your family, at peace warms my heart. I envy you. I have a strong relationship with my Dad. I’m his only son and the youngest and my old man always taught me to be strong. No pain, no gain. Men shouldn’t be spoiled. If it hurts, get used to it. If you’re tired then get over it. I think some of his “men must provide theory “ came about because he was away all those years and he couldn’t provide, and now is overprotective of his daughters, and they brought it up a number of times. You work as a team in marriage, not one provider and one is looked after. I supported my wife fully when she went to med school, and she supported me fully when I was temporarily incapacitated from a motor vehicle accident. I like the old school ways ,my father never showed weakness so we looked at him and new we were safe at all times, he was our rock and I believe that’s what Michael means and that character takes time to mold. So you see these days how some of these “old school ways” are looked at but where are we as a society, I don’t know it seems I call it the “ participation award syndrome” seems discipline , respect, honor, learning loss, learning work ethic to win and win is different for everyone. I have my first child 4 months away and yes little girl, it’s amazing the changes in me and I want her to look at me like the strongest man ever I guess, I want her to look at me like I did my father perfectly said should be in position haha anyway I hope you realize that you guys taking the time to put all these messages out you never no when they change someone’s life so I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart you guys god bless 🙏

@@michaelfranzese Michael, I offer this to your daughters: I know I'm only an outsider looking in, but your father turned his world upside down to be with your mother. Your Dad wants each of you to have that kind of man in your life. You're father isn't talking smack, it's the example he lives. Each of you deserves a man who will adore and provide for you because he wants to. Please don't settle. Trust that the best is truly yet to come.

No big deal, but I'm pretty sure it's "A man who doesn't SPEND TIME with his family can never be a real man."
I've always loved that line, perhaps my favorite from GF Part 1. I don't know whether it makes you a "real man" or not, but I've always been of the belief that staying close with your family and spending time with your loved ones is incredibly important in life. Then again, I happen to have 2 great and loving parents, I get along with both my older brothers who are 7 and 9 years older than me respectively, and I love my niece and nephew and see them as often as I can, although my nephew is now a man himself and lives on his own so I don't see him quite as much (both are children to my brother who's 7-years older), and while all my grandparents passed away long ago, I really enjoy seeing the rest of my extended family and try to as often as I can. Unfortunately due to bastard ass Covid I haven't seen most of my aunts, uncles, or cousins in over a year. Not since Christmas 2019. Ordinarily I see all or most of them all the major holidays--Easter, then we get together for the 4th of July at my aunt and uncles lake house, then we have a couple joint birthday celebrations on each side of the family, then of course I see everyone for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not 2020. But my immediate family--my parents and brothers and niece, I see them at least once every couple weeks, usually more more that.

Tom , a man who doesn't care for his family is worse than any & all animals and should not even be called a man !! I'm not old but I'm an old school guy, who is also a PROUD Irishman living in Britain, which can be almost as hard as being Black in America!!! I can't be good at my job, I have to be one of the BEST in my City, and I know it's still a 70% chance that I won't get the job BUT I will never stop being Proud & open to myself and my country 🇮🇪💚🇮🇪

When Miquelle (I think I got the name right) was talking about how it might have been detrimental to her to know Dad was always there if she took a risk and failed, or something went wrong in life etc, I could see immense pride on Michael's face. In his mind he's giving himself a pat on the back - job well done. Because REAL men have an innate sense of provision and protection, and nothing could make a man prouder than to be known to his children as a fortress and place of safety, and the fixer of all things broken.
