It doesn't smell, on rare occasions you get an odor but it's rare. The township community of 50,000 people is about a mile away and 97% of the time there is no odor at all. When there is an odor it's hard to tell if it's from the landfill because there is so much other waste in the form of just general pollution that it doesn't smell any worse than anywhere else in South Florida (Parts of Miami actually smell like hot, rotting garbage). We also have the nature preserves here so the trees make the air smell cleaner either way, cleaner than most areas in SFL to be honest.
Ok. This is quite overly dramatic and not correct. First the highest point is 220ft. The smell is quite localized to the area they are dumping and Waste Management does an excellent job of covering it over as they dump. Your video even shows this. Clearly you see piles and piles of dirt they use to cover the garbage and eliminate the smell. At about 5:35 you see the bulldozers actually covering some of the freshly dumped gargage. I know, I'm a member of the Pompano Hill Flyers. An AMA charted RC Glider flying club that have access to and been flying off this landfill for 25+ years. It's not hidden. Anyone who is an AMA member and is interested in joining up to learn tp fly gliders on the slopes is welcome. www.phflyers.com. My Channel has several videos of people greatly enjoying the RC flying possible on this hill.

nice footage , I wonder how it is possible to happen in the middle of pompano beach/coconut creek
When the landfill was started... There was basically nothing around it. All the cities built up around it over the years as it grew bigger.
They are just adding more hills for mountain bikes!!!
lol It's a little like SimCity with the music and camera view.
You do know they give free tours of the landfill all of the time right?
