It was the right aproach. Easy on the car and no crashes ! Good video as usual.
Love the vid diary and the honesty of the experience. I am also a young racer trying to break into the sport so seeing behind the scenes of a startup is as good as it gets. Thanks and best of luck Henry
Thank you. Best of luck to you too.
Great vid Henry, keep it up. Nice to see an Evo project car actually getting used!
rally is the greatest form of racing!!!
Hillman Avenger at 4.17 awesome!
Well done Henry. Makes all seem quite doable. One day...
Do a shootout vs Chris Harris' M3E30!
give this man a go pro. I want to hear the actual sounds of the car not just the radio and some quiet sounds of what in this video sounds like a remote R/C car. nice video though.
yea, what the hell was that? i got better footage of my commute to work this morning.
vassili1234 same here my Iphone 3gs delivers better sound quality of my bmw. they either lowered the mic volume that recorded the engine sound or it was a bug.
I'd be put off with a car with reg saying DNF
I like a challenge! For a while when the alternator was broken I did think that DNF might be a DNS.
" a lot of times it's pretty mundane" while filming inside a RR Wraith :)
Good vid as always mr catchpole!
Epic! Congrats Henry on getting it through the woods unscathed! You'll be as quick as Jari in his Mk2 before you know it... Keep the rally content coming, its why I subscribe to EVO.
Could anyone please tell me when the koenigsegg one:1 review is coming out?Great video by the way.I love everything you guys do.Cheers.
Love this style of video, little snippets and insights. The lack of editorial planning is actually quite nice sometimes because it feels more real and involving than just a journalist trying to justify their opinion of a new car with "tests" and comparisons. Hope to see more of this stuff! I care way more about real petrol heads like Henry's experience in the real world than I care how the new triple clutch sequential gearbox in a car I'm never going to drive compared to other cars I'm never going to drive. "Grass roots" and all that. Or gravel roots in this case!
I agree, like to see more diaries with Henry! :-)
DNF as the reggie plate - that has to have been deliberate!
Well done Henry. Been there too. Took me 3 years to build my McRae replica Nova. The wait was soo worth it when I lined up for the start of last year's Mull rally.
More information on the car would be great and looking forward to your further rallying exploites. Good to see that not all the EVO team are all roundy roundy players.
Oh and Mull is a must for the future.
Kind of remarkable that you share all this with us. Thanks for that I suppose. And good luck with next races. First in the class is a target to beat ;).
Excellent video Henry from a 1st issue magazine buyer from Windermere Cumbria stuck in the frozen Canadian north who dreams of the days I used to watch WRC group B cars Blat through Grizedale forest many years ago.
You`re forgiven. Properly cool stuff. Congrats Henry you always make the most smile inducing videos. Also I have the feeling that the number plate is an elaborate pun!
Cracking vid. Shame about the number plate. Only notice dnf. Did not finish. That's hope u have more luck with it than the top gear guys did. Keep up the good work ;-)
Good on you Henry, money where mouth is etc! Good insight into a weekend warrior. Speaking of warriors have you thought of using one of the mission motorsport guys as a co-driver? I'm sure a wounded veteran would jump at the chance. I'd barf my self to pieces if I had to read pace notes in a rally car!
DNF, not the best rego number for a race car!
The engine is natural aspirated, right? If it is, the Mk2 still have some juice.
Btw it would be so cool a side photo of the jump XD
well done !! alway want to do rally but it´s very expensive
try to test the camera first so it can focus and dont reflex the sun :)
good luck on the next one
Brilliant Co driving!!!!! What an excellent Co driver to have whilst Henry is learning! Good team!
I saw no lack of hair... ? :-D
Henry Catchpole > Chris Harris
Ooh, not sure I can agree. Both are excellent.
I don't believe it either that, apart from one eejit, the posts are being nice! Who knew the internet could be nice!
very cool to see another part of the automotive world, and the people that do it. very cool, good luck on your nest race.
Well done! Looking forward to future installments. My first car long ago and far away was a 1967 Cortia GT/1600. You have inspired me to take a look into the way-back machine and see whats for sale.
Awesome. Loved it. What camera was it which you were using?
Great video! You need to have that pinto rebuilt as it sounds far too tame.
Any chance you could do Topgear instead of them 3 muppets?
Nice one Henry, great to see you chase and realise your dream. Always a pleasure.
Unfortunate registration for a race car!
was just thinking the same thing!
"lack of hair and makeup" plenty of hair there sir!
Evo diary on the ST would be fantastic
Might do a more lavish production job on the ST, but if we don't get time then I'll definitely do a diary video.
That sounds even better :) I can't wait! Would also love to hear how those Conti Sport 5 are doing on the ST. Thinking about putting them on mine as well.
More diaries!
This is my friends old car from leeds he sold to a lad in Morecambe i think
Glad to see that your showing some proper old school cars some love
Wow I'm really struck by how weak the cage looks compared to the FIA spec that Rally America requires for this level of rallying. Wouldn't want to get in a side impact in that one. Anyways really love the video and hope to see more of the car.
I try not to think about it! Will do a fuller more in-depth video on the car in the future.
Thought it was a great video Henry, but seeing as you did ask for comments - maybe for the next one you could manually set the EV and focus of the interior camera (forwards looking) so we can see a bit more of the road ahead? Otherwise great job
Certainly will. Glyn set the cameras up (note the expert buck passing there!) and hadn't realised that someone had fiddled with all the exposure and white balance settings since the last time he'd used them. Glad you enjoyed the video, though.
Just noticed your in the Rolls Royce Wraith :)
Would have been nice to have been shown the car in more detail. The walk around holding a camera method that Harry M used to do would have been great. Still good though :-)
Don't worry, the plan is to do a proper more in-depth video with it and explain a bit more of the detail in the future. Will definitely be trying the walk around method with some other cars though.
I really like your "diaries" a lot!
And it is nice to see that you finally started your own facebook page, i hope this makes it easier for you to get involved in some serious sponsorship!
Keep up the good work!!
Greetings from Bavaria!
still the best UA-cam channel in the world.
I love rally so this was one of my favorite episodes and I really would like to see more. Great job Henry and keep them episodes coming.
Zats an dezent effort Monsieur 'Enry
Mr. Catchpole, I love your car.
Man this guy is living my dream.
Great Henry! Good to see you back in a rally car and good going for 2nd place. Looking forward to the diaries.
Great video! I really love hearing what it's like to race cars first hand from the driver!
Great video keep up great work.
Awesome hair for an awesome car.
Bobolimasterflex....
Awesome video mate :)
Thanks Henry!
Nice Reg! DNF
Lucky you!!

Love the plate!!! :)
