My grandfather introduced me to this. I remember watching it with him for the first time on VCR. He's getting older now and I dread the day he will pass. For now though, we try to share our love for LOTR and Tolkien. Most recently, we went to comic con and got to take a picture with Elijah Wood together.

Funny thing aswell, the series was made to look good, hence the huge amount of money put in it. This movie was made with the best book ever written to feel good.

Older movie they did not have bluray or Ultra High Definition back then. it still is verry good, maybe you see the small difference on a disc instead of an online purchase.
Late response, but if you haven't figured it out yet, go to adjustments, then quality. Then go to adjustable/personal quality, there you can click on 1080p. And if you did know, now you have another excuse to watch this masterpiece again:)

Ultra HD is 4k not 1080p or 480p...
I've actually looked into this because I have the same problem, this has been going on since 2019 and they still haven't fixed it yet.
